Our VP emerged from his undisclosed location long enough to visit some of the destruction caused by Katrina and BushCo et al in the New Orleans area. A local yelled out "Hey Cheney, go cheney yourself" (or something very similar, but no 'F' word). He then continuted walking home. The SS went through his neighborhood until they found him. When he confirmed that he was the person that spoke, they handcuffed and detained him IN HIS HOME until the VP left the area.
Good thing our SS isn't like that other SS.
Two things:
1) he might have actually used the "F" word, I might be confusing the G-rated version presented on the idiot box for reality.
2) if memory serves, they actually used zip ties not handcuffs, which in my opinion is even more heinous.
I don't have the capacity to keep detailed accounts of every evil act committed by BushCo. One of these days, maybe, some reich wing troll is going to correctly call "bullshit" on me because it's so much easier on my beautiful mind to immediately call them liars and fascists instead of trying to grok their vast truckloads of bullshit, before then calling them liars and fascists.
And to all you trolls out there - this is our country, if you don't like it, YOU CAN LEAVE. Traitors.
If you don't like the "troll" label, better check your talking points at door.
1) It's dangerous, in my opinion, to have poor people support rich people. Starting with St Ronnie of the Raygun, the tax burden was shifted dramatically from big business to poor people.
2) Why is it the goverment's business what someone does to/with their own body? It is overtly attacking privacy; covertly inserting superstition into public policy (yea! another holy war!); and as always with the GOP, making life miserable for those with limited resources.
3) Lincoln, T Roosevelt, and Eisenhower would be Democrats if they were politicians now. Nixon is responsible for many more deaths than Kennedy by needlessly prolonging a bad war. Reagan negotiated with terrorists to keep Americans hostage in order to throw the election his way and buggered the economy. Pappa Bush was just plain incompetent. Shrub - an unmitigated disaster that failed to keep this country safe from terrorists but still managed to shred the Constitution. McCain, crashed 5 planes, can't keep warring tribes names straight without Lieberman's nose wedged firmly between his butt cheeks, and wants to expand American's regrettable imperialist behavior. Furthermore, I haven't heard word one about how McCain is going to protect us, the average American citizen from the police state Shrub has been nurturing the last 8 years.
Thanks, but no thanks. I'll take a Dem over any Republican when it comes to policy, foreign or domestic. Peace through strength comes from a strong populist domestic policy and by realizing we lead the world by example, not the barrel of a gun.
George Bush = the true face of "Conservatism". McCain = Shrub's lame third act.
money - non-countable noun
moneys - more than one kind of money
monies - violates a spelling rule
"federal matching monies, when combined with RNC monies"
Are you saying the Fed and the GOP have multiple currencies?
The GOP would have gutted Lieberman and hung his stinking corpse on a fencepost.
The Democratic Party really is the party of Christ. They forgive, they give the shirt of their backs, and they turn the other cheek. And then to go one step further, they bend over and spread those cheeks wiiiiiiide open.
The low approval rating for Congress reflects that the Republican congresscritters are voting to enable Dear Leader, while the Democratic congresscritters are .. voting to enable Dear Leader.
Maybe, just maybe, after this November the Dems will get some therapy and overcome their spineless, battered-wife syndrome behaviors. Yah right.
She's angling for a spot on Faux News, 'cause that's how you launch careers these days (if you're denied the chance to burn down the world).
Because of that, we now must confront the resulting consquences. If tools like Rove had gotten a dose of reality early enough, maybe we wouldn't be paying the price now.
Every member of BushCo should get a taste of renditition before appearing in The Hague.
The bifurcation of the GOP means Mitt "magic underpants" Romney wouldn't have helped McCain at all. He scares the bejeezzus out of the superstitious branch of the GOP, and you ain't Amurikan if you ain't got jeezus.
It's so great and not annoying at all. Maybe you could also enhance our visit by having this little windows open with all kinds of purchasing information, they could 'pop up' and surprise us with wonderful temptations.
To truly enhance the Salon experience, perhaps you could discover some way for my computer to send an electric impulse through the keyboard? A few thousand volts ought to be about right.
Wilbur's particular flavor of superstition bothers me much less than the Evangelicals. To them Mormonism is just a few ticks shy of Satanism. In case you couldn't see it, I was mocking one segment of the GOP.
That said, I'm proud of my religious bigotry. Superstition has no place in a secular government.
'waaaaaaaaaaaaa', he called me a name.
While normally it would be the asserter's responsiblity to provide foundation, one thing the country has learned from the past eight years is that the GOP relies on non-stop prevarication.
So, in this case, why don't you prove Schaller is wrong instead of insinuating it?
What we needed was for him to be shown the door years ago. Greenspan is a tool, a water-carrier for the landed gentry and nothing more. This has been documented repeatedly, even here on the pages of Salon. He receives such wondrous praise from the masters he served.
@ al loomis, spot on and succinct. I'll be quoting you for the benefit of others.
What if the final tally is a 'surprising' 50.1% for McCain, with a final surge pushing him over the top in heavily Democratic areas with Diebold*, I mean Premier Election Systems, e-voting?
