Original article: Scott McClellan comes clean

Pretend it's 1946...

And Joe Goebbles has penned a confession saying he didn't think Hitler really meant to kill as many Jews as he did, and anyway most of those bad ideas were from Goering. And gosh, Adolf was an artist at heart, and he had a good heart, God bless him.

Maybe it's true that Joe really believed in Adolph, really thought the Germans got a raw deal out of WWI and needed some relief. Joe really believed that Adolph wanted his native country to help his neighbors to the north. Joe feels bad about what happened. Joe didn't really want to mislead his fellow countrymen, but there was hard work ahead, and maybe his fellow countrymen wouldn't have the benefit of Adolph's foresight.

So maybe the Germans actually got shafted by Versailles. Maybe some of the Germans really knew what was going on with the concetration camps, but most made the tragic mistake of trusting their government. So maybe Joe doesn't have a completely clear conscience and writes a book. Telling the truth makes the hurt go away.

Should I just buy his book and let it go?

Words, grammar, language - all are important choices; all are deliberate choices.

Please explain to me how you can "mock" drowning someone that isn't actually drowning.

Your use of BushCo word tracks betrays a sublimated allegiance, ignorance, or negligence. Which is it?

Incompetence only extends so far

@ Mysticmom

You're misunderestimating him. Shrub isn't clueless or manipulated about what he wants. Shrub has successfully executed every one of his constituents' objectives, disguising his malice with a smokescreen of incompetence and deception.

Things might have been different if Poppy and Babs had been responsible parents, but that is neither here nor there. What we have is a dry-drunk coke-head egomaniac that's finally gotten himself into so much trouble, even daddy's fixer can't bail him out.

Shrub's only chance of redemption is to undergo reeducation at the hands of some Commie Chinese a la The Last Emperor.

If it were only that easy for the rest of us.

Holy Message Control, Batman!

I'm not sure I believe this - can it be elected Democrats are demonstrating EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION?

Original article: Fox News responds

I have a dream...

that everyone, regardless of race,

- walks out of the Fox studios,

- stops giving money to Murdoch's class warfare propaganda machine.

Oh yeah, and Shrub perpwalking to The Hague!

Isn't it sad

Hagel's name is floated as a potential VP simply because he says the dauphin's new threads don't cut it?

People get mad at Jon Stewart for not asking the hard questions .. on a comedy show? But "news" organizations get a pass, I guess. Not because they should, but because we've (rightly) given up on them to do their job properly.

Looking for a good candidate in the opposition's ranks, griping because comics aren't good journalists. Tsk Tsk.

Things are looking seriously fubar'd. I blame the Republicans. And the DLC Republican-wanna-be's. And the stealth Republicans (eg Feinstein). And the enabling spineless sycophants (Reid, Pelosi etc). And the corporate-owned press. And everyone that couldn't see through Shrub's pack of lies.

The last thing this country needs is "compromise" with the "right". The "right"wing nutjobs have driven us into a ditch. The car's stuck, the tires spinning, and still they scream "turn right! more! more!"

A Republican for VP? Fuck that. I want a foreign-aid-giving pot-smoking UFO-watching make-love-not-war tree-hugging green elitist west-coast-latte-sipping A+ student pro-choice impeach-their-asses peacenik for president AND vice-president. Anything less than a 100% refuation of the last 8-years' nightmare puts spilled blood on all our hands.

love the snark but...

First, don't start counting those chickens.

Second, IF we win, we need to win publicly for the world to see. "Conservative" policies must be publicly decisively resoundingly reputiated. No mercy for the "compassionate conservatives". Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.

Monday, June 23, 2008 06:29 PM

@Event Horizon, didn't you get the memo?

Obama is a *Marxist*, not a (capital C) "Communist"!

Tuesday, June 24, 2008 02:05 AM

@prabhata

Does that mean you're voting for Bob Barr, like all true conservatives will be this fall?

Thursday, July 10, 2008 05:37 PM

@ Elephantman, haha you so fonny

That's great! I like oxymorons. Here's some more oxymoronic fun.

Just combine any of the following words with GOP or Republican

patriotic

honest

intelligent

forthright

noble

wise

considerate

pious

compassionate

Man that's fun, good times, good times.

Now back to reality. I was skeptically hopeful Obama would be more liberal than I expected. Sadly, after the FISA fiasco, I am even more disappointed than I expected. The Dems that allowed this to happen must be removed from office. (Why the Dems? Well, I expect Rethuglicans to be craven bottom feeders, so getting them out of office is assumed.)

Business as usual

Shrub has consistently used business-speak throughout his reign. Implicit in his use of the term "customer" instead of citizen is the concept of unequal representation or standing. Like the rest of his life, he and his peers have been more equal than the little people.

Saturday, July 19, 2008 09:15 AM

Capitalism trumps Democracy

Shrub disingenuously conflates the two, but one could argue since this country's inception, Capitalism has allowed Democracy to survive solely to provide moral cover. (And it makes a nice fairytale for the children.)

DC lawlessness isn't new. The Congress has regularly exempted itself from the laws it enacts.

We need to take the bribery out of politics and put the truth back into the national discourse. If someone can see that path without bloodshed please say something.

The Onion got it right.

"Mommy has ugly chest bumps. I hate Mommy!"

Thursday, July 24, 2008 11:27 AM

blow-back from his FISA flip-flop

Maybe just maybe people are expressing their dislike (disgust?) with his recent move to "the center"?

Original article: Novak has tumor

"Have the last 7 years robbed us of all compassion, too?"

Uh, yes.

More precisely - BushCo, over the last seven years, has robbed us of many things including compassion, especially for Shrub's cavalierly creepy cadre.

Original article: Turn around, Obama

polling potpourri porridge

There are plenty of reason the numbers may look bad for Obama besides his European Vacation.

Maybe the M$M need a horserace worse than a heroin addict needs a fix.

Maybe Dems as a whole still can't figure out how to deal with scumbag mudslingers (ie GOP).

Maybe people are losing "Hope"(tm) because he's moving towards the mythical "middle", alienating the people that got him this far, and others that might have considered voting for him until he revealed himself to be just another pol.

Maybe people are still pissed about FISA.
