I'm rooting for success in returning transparency and honesty to government, success in protecting the citizen from financial services firms that feel entitled to taxpayer money to cover up their mistakes, and success in creating a foreign policy that is more sensible and less bellicose.
The financial service issue is unfortunate, but letting them fail was not an option ... unless you are willing to sacrifice everything you have to uphold that principle. As for the foreign policy, surely you see a difference in the past year.
I could not conveivably care less about Obama's personal success or failure.
Personal success? Where did this come from. I want him to succeed at governing. Big difference, dude.
I thought that he'd take important steps on several issues that I care about.
I wanted a President who is serious about governing. So I guess I am happy on that front. Sucks to be you that you aren't getting your way.
but has actively done things that I think are harmful."
And I think he has done bold things that have prevented our country from experiencing greater harm.
Regardless of what you think about the importance of it, I thought his promise to never hire a lobbyist was an important reason that a lot of people became interested in him. Him promptly broke the promise.
Sorry dude, but this sounds like PUMA whining to me. It just sounds like the typical whining from the folks who didn't get their candidate during the primaries.
If he can't do better than he's done so far, then I can't say I approve of his performance. Which is what the article is all about.
Actually, it isn't about performance. It's about a single poll. Maybe you didn't read the article.
Your multiple question marks change nothing.
The multiple question marks is about a topic that you brought up regarding "numbers" ... a word you chose incorrectly for the substance of the article.
The article mentions - quite convincingly - that Obama's numbers are below 50%.
Numbers??? That suggests there is more than one poll with "numbers" below 50%. The article talks about ONE poll and then goes on to mention that there are other polls that have him with higher numbers.
How serious do you want to be taken in this discussion if you are going to just make shit up? You almost seem pleased that Obama is having bad news. What the fuck is that all about? Are you rooting for failure too???
You are nitpicking. McCain never made that promise and he would have brought in lobbyists. You should have voted for McCain so that your feelings wouldn't have been hurt so bad over such an important issue.
What, the guy can't walk and chew gum at the same time? How, pray tell, is allowing the AG to do his sworn duty to uphold the rule of law going to interfere with health care reform or tackling unemployment?
Ah, you must be one of the Greenwalders. A single-issue guy. Your issue is THE issue that must be addressed or Obama will just merely be another Bush. Our gay friends are also upset that Obama isn't giving them more than lip-service. Everyone with their favorite issue isn't getting what they want right away.
The immediate focus is on healthcare reform and the effects of a shitty economy. These are the priorities of this president. Your favorite issue is not the priority, as it would be a distraction. The wingnuts would love to have the healthcare debate derided by these other important issues. They would love to play the fear card as well as the culture card.
I do think it is important that Obama be pressured to take on these other important issues, but it is unreasonable for you to dismiss him as a failure for not pleasing you or Glenn.
The courts ordered abuse pictures released. He found time to oppose it. The courts ordered it again. He found time to oppose it again.
Time? Are you kidding me? This isn't about fitting something into his Franklin Planner. It's about picking your battles. How many battles do you want this President to wage? How much political capital do you think he possesses?
The man is trying to accomplish political objectives in a political environment where one side is only focused on tactics to make him unable to govern, and another side that is demanding that he govern too much.
Obama is and always has been a reasonable moderate who wants to govern in a serious way for all Americans; and not just his base. THAT is why I am one of his strongest supporters.
Obama said he would restore the rule of law, but refuses to prosecute war criminals from our own government that are now widely known to have implemented a torture program.
Yeah, I would like that too. You must think that is more important than health care reform or tackling unemployment.
You want all of these big-ticket items taken care of NOW. Right fucking NOW!!! Every political hurdle must be tackled all at once. Not addressing everything at once is a BIG FAILURE in your eyes. In your opinon, it must be easy to pull these things off, isn't it? Look how much fun Obama is having with the Blue Dogs. According to you, Obama just needs to wave a magic wand and he will be able to satisfy your excessively high-expectations in a short period of time.
And, according to you, he should be able to reverse 8 years of Bush failures in 8 months.
I sometimes think that my leftwing brethren are as unreasonable as the wingnuts.
