A response I wrote for an Obama article...
[Read the article: Hillary Studies]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Let me preface this by saying that I am a 30 year old black American female, who is socially liberal and politically in the middle with left leanings.
I don't feel Obama. I don't trust his meteoric rise or the warm fuzzies he offers in the face of the very real problems that I feel biting against our collective sides. I learned a long time ago not to seriously date men who offer lush promises and have all the potential in the world, but no action and experience to back it up. Obama is the guy I'd got out for drinks with, but never trust him with my heart.
Within these Republican years, I've grown a thicker skin, bolder heart, and sharper sense of paranoia. I now tend to respect steadfast strength over the shinny flashing bulbs that come with political celebrities, salesmen, and the spin doctors who handle them. I feel awful for feeling this way, but I worry that folks are so "Obama" that they are blinded by the promise that they aren't looking at the man, and so scared of Hillary that they are letting the Republicans snow job them into discounting her (I mean, call her the cold bitch that Republicans would rather run against and see how far the Democrat sheep run in the opposite direction).
Cutting to the chase, I don't think Obama is tough enough. He and Hillary are in some ways polar opposites; Hillary has the experience and hard nosed attitude, but her facade is paper thin (haven't the Clintons always been this way?) so we see the smooze and smarm and bi-partisianship floating underneath. Obama is all shiny and new like his promises, all earnest and anti-politician, but he has little experience and isn't tough enough to deliver on what he's selling.
At the end of the day, I gotta go with my guts, and they say "Hillary". I don't have to like her. I just need to trust that she'll be politically savvy enough to run this country anywhere but further into the ground.

So this dude...
[Read the article: Why won't my boyfriend introduce me to his daughters?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So this dude was like "Dinner and a movie?"
And I heard "I want you."
Dude was like "Can I spend the night?"
And I heard "I love you."
Dude later said "I want you to meet my friends and family one day."
And I heard "Will you marry me?"
So I dumped his @ss 'cause I didn't want to get married, I didn't love him, and all that was too high a price to pay just so that I wasn't alone. And really I never listened to him anyway.
LW, you seem to be too busy hearing to listen.

I agree with LW...
[Read the article: Her sexy T-shirt says "Kitty Not Happy" -- is that OK at work?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]While I'll never agree that a woman deserves a "good slapping" for what she wears to work, I think that much of what the LW is responding to isn't the t-shirt, but the over familiarity that now exists in the workplace.
Once upon a time everyone learned about everyone else's dirty laundry through whispered gossip and pointed looks. Now folks practically take out billboards to advertise the inner workings of their personal drama.
If sitcom workplaces have taught us anything, its how to turn a cube farm into our very own stage. We display everything, from our verbose angst over this or that coworker to personal tidbits about our marriages and spouses.
"Kitty Not Happy" is another way for the coworker to bitch, to get attention, to star in her very own drama. Maybe LW is just tired of being an extra who can't find a way off the stage.

This is why I'm voting for Hillary and not Obama...
[Read the article: Hillary Clinton always comes prepared]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hillary brings preparation, experience, and a level of thoughfulness about the running of the country that goes beyond just owning the title.
Obama brings what amounts to warm fuzzies and bling.
As a black, female, liberal American, I do feel pressure to support Obama because he's the Great Black Hope. But here are my points about him:
1. I don't trust his hubris. Falling for ego strokes isn't what I want in a president. He should have been Hillary's VP, but he fell for the political okey doke, and I'll always resent that character flaw in him.
2. Even his handlers don't trust his staying power. Most jr. politicians would get tapped for greatness then seasoned. No one trusts that Obama will be just as strong, if not stronger, after getting some experience under his belt. That says to me "con job". "Hit us quickly, get him in" is what they are saying. We've already been f*cked. I'm looking for someone to clean up the mess...thoroughly.
As for calling Hillary by her first name? We know her. She's our Hillary. The rest of the candidates are rich men who came out of the woodwork to run. Your average American didn't know them 2 years ago. Hillary (not just Senator Clinton or even Mrs. Clinton) has become part of the fabric that covers the American landscape.

Inspiration...
[Read the article: Hillary Clinton always comes prepared]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I don't understand why people are looking to be inspired by a presidential candidate. Inspiration doesn't equal resolution.
Obama's inspiration makes us feel good, but does nothing to fix the problems that exist in America. He has good lines, but can he deliver?
At most he should have been VP, but now all we've got is a dude who can get us to take off our underwear, but who knows if he'll know what he's doing if he goes down there. LOL
