Tim Russert and Cheney

When I saw the Cheney interview on MEET THE PRESS, I wondered why Russert never followed up on Cheney's phrase, "the dark side."

I sent Russert 3 emails, very respectful ones, mind you, asking him why he didn't follow up on that phrase that would define the Bush presidency.

After the 3rd email, he blocked my email. I think he agreed with Cheney, knew that meant torture, and didn't want to antagonize his favorite guest.

Anyway, back to the fake photo

Before the trolls showed up here, we were talking about the Saturday crowd.

According to Politifact, the crowd photo is a confirmed fake.

Original article: Tortured logic

Separate investigation of OLC

Now, Digby, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Holder also conducting an investigation of the Bush OLC as well?

Palin's PR blitzkrieg to '12

Cheney and Newt have been getting all the attention lately, so what to do? Create an artificial controversy, make sure the media covers it, and come across as a victim.

where is the MN outrage?

Are there any organized groups in Minnesota that are trying to push the Governor to certify the election?

Original article: Quote of the day

it's about the money.

I think this is all fundraising. As soon as these guys criticize Rush, someone on the extreme right shows them the stats on how much money they make from Rush, they immediately recant.

Wonder if this could be absolutely proven?

question for Gabriel

Gabriel:

Do you or anyone happen to know what Duncan thinks about the coal sludge disaster in TN? It's TVA's responsibility.

Original article: Calm down, Keith

You have a personal grudge, Alex

Alex:

It's the first time that you went after someone on the left with such sarcasm. Keith is articulate and

passionate. Guys that are supposed to represent the left (Paul Begala, Geraldo(?) are weak with their arguments, and the bookers know it.

You must have had a personal confrontation with Keith, and we don't know it.

It sounds like in-the-Beltway crap that weakens any

criticism of the Repub minority.

the spin machine is on overload

Good for Obama! When the labor community is demonstrating today for EFCA, he defends the best advocate for it.

It's not her tax problem; it's her husband's, for God's sake. He paid it, and that's it.

This ISN'T the same as Daschle. Solis has no tax problems. Period.

Now, if the press wants to investigate every spouse of every politician out there for tax liens, it will be a long list.

But the real point is that the Repub PR machine will feed the media with Dems' spouses' tax problems. If that's the case, publish every politician's spouses' tax returns, and we'll never get out of this economic mess.

Thanks, George

I stand corrected and it should be an article posted in Salon, as in, who is Jan Brewer? Sounds scary.

Napolitano's replacement?

won't Napolitano be replaced by the Lt. Governor, who is a Republican?

Chalabi was the fuel for the networks, etc.

Ahmed Chalabi supplied all the networks those defectors that we saw every day on the evening news during the run-up to the Iraq war, and the nets NEVER vetted them.

Only McClatchy Newspapers (Knight-Ridder,then) and the Guardian questioned the defectors' reliability.

Bill Moyers covered this story in detail, the ONLY major TV news org to do so.

Ego won't let them admit the truth, something they have in common with Bush.

Clarke for DNI

I think Richard C. Clarke would make an honest DNI, but I'm not sure that he would want the job.

He'd have to fight off the bureacracy within CIA, not an easy job.

she knew it was happening behind her

When one of the photogs asked her if she wanted to do the interview somewhere else, she said, "No worries."

Look, for all you people tired of Palin, think about this: the more we see her, the more people will realize that her stump speechifying is just rambling monologues. Notice that at the Governors' Convention that her appearance didn't make a favorable impression at all.

The more you see her, the less her stature will be, and the funnier she'll be.

You depressed Repubs out there, find another charming conservative to follow.

THEY CAN BE REASSIGNED

Hopefully, the Obama admin can reassign these guys. According to the Post article:

As a general rule, career SES employees may be reassigned involuntarily within their current commuting area within 15 days, and beyond their commuting area within 60 days, but they retain their lucrative and permanent government posts. When a new agency head is appointed, he or she must wait 120 days before reassigning career SES officials.

It's identifying these guys that will be the real chore.

same old GOP

After all their strategy meetings, if the GOP can't figure out that they have to reach out to minorities on immigration and health care, they will continue to lose, at least, nationally, for years to come.

If they listen to Palin, and embrace her meandering types of answers at that press conference, they will be leaderless.

"Seated Without Prejudice?"

If Stevens goes back to the Senate, this is what may await him; from NPR:

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=96189996

A member such as Stevens would most likely be "seated without prejudice" — that is, allowed to be sworn in once again, but subject to further action by the Senate if an appeal of his case is turned down.

In such a case, the matter would most likely be dealt with by either the rules or ethics committees before being taken up by the full Senate.

the story is who illegally leaked it

what an ugly story; I know some guys at DHS don't want to lose their jobs, so they leaked this crap?

Now, the DHS is investigating the leak. This case, as all asylum cases, are supposed to be confidential.

And this won't affect anything.

it happened at LA Times on Oct. 10

It's a way to intimidate the press, the worst kind of terrorism; whether it's anthrax or not, it doesn't matter.

The idea is to strike fear in people.

And that's what the FBI should be thoroughly investigating, not ACORN.

Original article: "Kill him!" again

Palin's response to this? Nothing?

Could one, just one reporter out there get a response from Sarah Palin on these death threats? I know McCain's response. But she's running a different campaign.
