[Read the article: Does Obama have a lobbyist problem too?]

I thought about Axelrod, and realized this must be a smear from the right and War Room’s youthful posters are regurgitating.

Any appearance, and this truly does seem like just an appearance of impropriety, and the fear of a sea change of voter opinion is facilitated. Perhaps the info was released from the not so far right, who would also benefit.

Regardless, if a dodgy political ad touting an energy rate increase is the worst they can come up with, then let's compare it to being associated with a military junta responsible for humanitarian atrocities. That, I care about. (Did Axelrod write, direct and promote or was he just connected via the firm he worked for? I don't know and I don't think it's great but I'm not going to waste time finding out-there are definitely more important things to consider these days. It doesn't violate the spirit of Obama's message.)

The Puerto Rico guy? Mistake, but let him go, say it was a mistake and tell Puerto Rico their needs will be met by removing lobbyist influence in Washington. My guess is he's not all that evil anyway.

    I'm going to move on.

[Read the article: Hoyer hails FISA bill as "a significant victory for the Democratic Party"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Perhaps viewing our leadership as capable, powerful leaders comes from, for the most part, Republican domination of the federal government over the last two and a half decades. A "don't question authority" mindset has become pervasive.

Glenn's comment about holding Barack Obama's feet to the fire has been coming back to me for several days now and I can't help wonder if what seems revolutionary should be the norm. We can respect and disagree with our political leaders without "denouncing" them, recalling them, or even reviling them. It doesn't have to be "with us or against us", and actually it can't be if we want to move forward.

Those points aside, constitutional debasement is not ok. Let's continue to push back without resentment and not let the issue go if our efforts fail. Rarely, if ever, are forces in balance. There isn't a big list of problems with Barack Obama's platforms, (for me, anyway) so it shouldn't be too difficult to keep this one on the front burner. Let's balance that with movements against Barrow, Carney and Hoyer and swing the pendulum back in a progressive direction.

I'm not second guessing constitutionality or KO or Glenn.

If we look at the fisa bill and have a problem with who's happy with it, we should also look at this issue and see who's happy that democrats are divided by it.

Here's a link to the Barack Obama FISA Opposition group-Grassroots are the only thing that can prevent this bill from passing. Check it out. It's on his website and they are very aware of it. Help it grow. There's time to communicate the need for a Democratic stand on this issue.

Where's the compromise if Republicans have no complaints? Soft on terror = soft on Republican foreign policy.

First-I'd like to leave record that I think my donation and those of everyone else that enabled the ad Glenn has generated was one of the greatest achievements of democracy this decade.

Second-I’m listening to Arlen freakin' Spector talking about this and unbelievably, I like what I'm hearing. That's a result of Glenn Greenwald's efforts (along with many others, but mainly Glenn)

Third-I think Glenn has now surpassed Woodward and Bernstein’s efforts with deep throat all by himself and is deserving of whatever accolades could be the result of those actions. Pulitzer-Whatever. Regardless of the outcome. I doubt that I'm the first to mention it, but I can't read all the posts here before the next column!

Arlen Spector. Unbelievable. It feels like the tide is turning. Go Glenn.

  • I may be stupid, but I still have hope

[Read the article: Today's coverup of surveillance crimes and Barack Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

That this is not the end and a compromise bill that is actually a compromise and not a capitulation can be passed. What about the Bingaman amendment? What about the logic of voting on immunity to which you don't know the crime? If you did commit a crime, you're immune? If you didn't, you're immune anyway? It’s all unbelievably frustrating.

I don't want to be an old man and finally hear about the release of documents finally proving the desecration of the constitution by the worst president in history and that my generation let him do it. I can't imagine explaining that to grandchildren.

"Wow, you gave money for an ad. Big deal Pops. I can't send an email to my friends without editing against surveillance because the government now gets to read anything I write. Thanks old man."

"It's not my fault! I didn't vote Republican. It was the Evangelists and other guys who wanted to drink beer with a guy who quit drinking after a dwi!"

"Well, I'd write more specifically what I think of your generation, but you're in power now and I'll probably get put on one of the Terrorist watch lists."

Stupid post's like Kopplemans and comments like that knucklehead a few posts ago. McCain can't speak a single sentence without lying, mischaracterizing, flip-flopping or just stumbling like a doddering old fool and this gets a mention. The media is working this nonsense harder than they did for Obama / Clinton. They're making money off the contrived controversies and don't care.

So go ahead Koppleman. Keep a war-hawking, pandering old radical and the rest of the right in power with your dumbass debasements that you know will get you the all-important pageviews. You'll vote Obama-Biden and say you supported them, but you're full of it. I stopped reading War Room regularly but every now and then I blow it and take a look. Each time I'm rewarded with entries that astound me with their lack of substance. Thanks for nothing.
