  • Serai, that was classic

[Read the article: A bizarre, unsolicited e-mail from Gen. Petraeus' spokesman ]

I laughed at this more than I do some cable based comedians.

    Great sendup.

    Hhhhokay. So.

Glenn emails Steve to ask if he can interview Dave.

    Steve: WTF, moonbat? No way.

Glenn: So you only talk to wingnuts?

Steve: We talk to OMG REEL reporters, not n00bs like you.

    Glenn: Whatever, dude. FAIL.

    ---

Six months later, Steve emails Glenn.

    Glenn:

OMG YOU SUXXOR! You're SO not a lawyer or you'd know WE DON'T GOTTA TALK TO YOU. Know why? Cuz you're a PUSSY. You don't know shit and your journalism sucks and you ain't got the BALLS to come over here cuz we'll KICK YOUR ASS. Whiny librul!!

    No love,

    Steve

Glenn: Uh, whatever. What do you guys think?

Forum: AHHAHAHA FAIL!!! Dude's drunk. Dude's stupid. Dude's a typical wingnut!

Forum: Check it out. Maybe it's fake.

    Glenn: OK.

    ---

Glenn: Hey, Steve, did you send this? *copies*

    Steve: No.

Glenn: Well, someone did. Aren't you worried?

    Steve: It wasn't me.

Steve: And I know it wasn't me because somebody already OMG HACKED into my identity and, like, tried to rent under my name and stuff.

Steve: But they totally don't know who they're dealing with, so yeah, whatever. I'll deal with it. And it's none of your business how, kthx.

Steve: And I'm not talking to you anymore. *flounces out*

    Glenn: Okkkay...

    Wow. I mean, WOW.

To see the kind of grade-school shenanigans that are common coin on Harry Potter boards employed by a Colonel of the U.S. Army is just...*sigh* Well, it's just too beautiful to behold. Methinks I may go blind from the glory.

I mean, it's been fun in a bitter, Carlinesque to watch the Bush administration slowly eviscerating itself, and I'd laugh a hell of a lot more if we weren't all caught in their backwash. But this...this is a little bit of heaven.

    Such charming comments you make.

By the way, I thought all Glenn's readers were here voluntarily, reading his posts of their own free will. I sincerely doubt anybody is MAKING you read something you find "hyperbolic" regarding middle management of the US Army.

    Here, give this a try:

See if that suits you better.

I enjoyed reading them. Glenn, go after these neo-cons, please. Their bluster doesn't hide the fect that they are fact-challenged, and sometimes downright risible in their prevaricating.

I confess, I don't get bebop-O. I am not a poetry aficionado. When I picture a progressive blogger taking on neo-cons like Sean Hannity, BillO, Monica Goodling, Kyle Sampson and MC Rove, I don't recall readings from Lord Byron or Tennyson.

With apologies to those without 'Gibson SG at 10' musical taste, I would more likely hear (in my mind's jukebox) Brian Johnson screaming

Don't try to push your luck

Just get out my way! Cuz I'm back!

    ;-)

  • I cannot believe he said that

    Scratch that. I can.

This is the same guy who told Stephanopoulos two years ago, "We've never been stay the course, George." After years of telling the country that Democrats were "cut and runners" who did not have the intestinal fortitude to see that the "job got done".

I am not surprised. I shouldn't even be disappointed. I still live in the reality based community. Unlike Dubya.

  • The GO matter

[Read the article: Only America-hating traitors believe in due process for journalists]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

First and foremost, just to say it, this isn't my blog. It's Glenn's, and he will do with it whatever he sees fit.

I am anti-Garry. Bear with me.

At The Nation's site, there are several people who post early and often on that site's blogs. These neo-cons/Bushies use shopworn talking points like "You hate Bush!" and "Clinton did it too!", and even such bits of erudition as "LIBS SUCK!!".

There are flame wars with language worthy of Tip O'Neill in the House cloakroom in the 1970s. The subject of the post is often forgotten quickly, as the progressive/liberal folk who comment go after the neo-cons for their Michelle Malkin, Darth Cheney and Glenn Beck worship.

What I see occurring at The Nation that makes me anti-Garry is this: there are some thoughtful commenters (liberal and conservative alike) that used to contribute regularly to the blogs, but have slowed their input, and in some cases stopped entirely. It's certainly possible they've found something more interesting to do, and moved on. But it may be that the neo-cons at the site have made them throw up their hands (like a previous poster's daughter did after the '04 election) and say to themselves, "why do I even bother?".

    My two cents on this.

FWIW, there isn't a troll problem on Glenn's posts, in my opinion. You want to see trolls, try www.thenation.com

  • Pervez the president (and Salon's dissidents)

[Read the article: Bush and Musharraf's grand illusion]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Pervez the prez has no use for democracy at this point. No suprise there, considering his statements and his past actions. As Cole states, Bush's behavior is also nothing if not consistent.

I only hope that if things come undone in Pakistan, the regime keeps track of their nuclear weapons. What with AQ in the country and all.

What does adultery (whether in front of the cuckold or no) have to do with Chavez, or Musharraf? That some sort of neo-con non sequitur?

More to the point, is it possible for some commenters to stay on topic for more than ten minutes?

    And, oh yeah, conformity.

Great post. Thanks for that. Neocons would incur serious injury if they had to think for themselves. They might pull a muscle or something!

Ellison and Olbermann are two of a very small number of people willing to speak out in a blunt and forceful manner against the administration and its policies. Guess we need more guys named Keith to step up in this country.

And GG, and Dan Froomkin. Keep up the good work, all of you.
