[Read the article: Time magazine uncritically prints Nancy Pelosi's "justifications" for the FISA "compromise"]

I have often said of late that I suspect that Carter's Malaise speech may have been the single most important speech by a president in the latter half of the 20th century. It drew a line in the sand and defined the battleground, a declaration of war against the oil industry. Unfortunately, it mostly energized the opposition, rather than the forces of Good. The 444 days of hostage crisis which involved unending Carter bashing on network television (led by a highly partisan ABC), giving power back to the Republicans and forging the strong bonds between right wing nutcases and the MSM I now suspect was a direct result of this speech.

Laurence, it is simple how to help get Nancy Pelosi out of the position of speaker. Give money and/or volunteer for her opponent in the upcoming election, and contact your congresscritter and tell them you want them to kick Pelosi out of the Speaker's chair (presuming you are notin her district).

points to remember... Pelosi wins 80% of the vote in SF not because of her, but because she is the incumbent Democrat, and the Democratic leaders in San Francisco aren't about to let anybody significantly challenge her in a primary. But, it also shows how liberal her constituency is, and you can bet that most of them were expecting impeachment hearings once she got into office, leadership on getting us out of the war, protection of civil liberties. She exemplifies why Congress has such a low approval rating among Democrats.

second point, it is a lot easier to tear down than build up. L.W.M., how many Judge Rose Birds, Gray Davis, Max Clelands, etc do you need to see happen not to understand that NOBODY is safe from negative attacks. The Republicans know it well, Democrats don't use ammunition even when it is gift wrapped and handed to them by their opponents.

third point. She is a coward. She is doing and saying these things out of fear of the Republicans taking away her precious gavel, and is more afraid of that than of losing her seat. So, it isn't necessary to remove her, just scare her show she knows that it isn't safe to make deals with the enemy to do things that your supporters sent you to capitol hill to fight against. If she won this next election by only 55% rather than 80%, that might help her remember that she is a representative of the people of San Francisco.

Unless, of course she really is a Lieberman clone.. but then let's expose her as such.

The difference between Rethugs and Democraps is the difference between the bully kicking you in the balls and all his cowardly cohorts standing around laughing.

Without the bully in charge, they probably would just sneer at you and try to ignore you instead of beating the crap out of you.

  • Oh, that was modeled after the presidential seal?

I was just about to do my first shooter slap down, and you beat me to it!

In regards to the subject he was obsfucating, what amazes me is how everything we know about the only, significant successful terrorist attack on American soil in the last... oh, well (tries to think of ANY other example, the World Trade Center bombing? not really successful... Pearl Harbor... not really terrorists... everything else I can think of didn't involve foreigners... there had been a few airplane hijacks back in the 70s that didn't amount to anything very big...help me here....(or is that why it is always 9/11 9/11 9/11... there ain't no other example!)) is that we had all the intelligence that was needed to do something to prevent it, but we didn't because of poor intelligence analysis, poor coordination, and lack of will on the part of the administration. Not to mention poor airline policy (eg. no locked cockpit doors). In other words, NONE of these laws would have done squat to stop 9/11 if we had the same poor ADMINISTRATION of the laws... I think sometimes we forget WHY it is called a presidential administration and NOT a royal court... that ole constitutionally mandated roles thing again....

Wow, actually looked at that article you quote... You are 100% misleading about it... ANY relatively well-off country with money and any sort of peacetime nuclear capability could have a bomb in 6 months to a year if they went full bore after it...the technology is, after all, more than 60 years old..

What the guy was saying in that article referred to by the new troll, so nobody else wastes their time, is that if Iran threw out all inspectors, blatantly ignored the non-proliferation treaty, and openly and full on tried to create a nuclear bomb, it would STILL take AT LEAST 6 months before they could build one... i.e. PLENTY of time for the international community to respond, and so all the alarmist crap by the neo-cons is TOTAL bullshit....
