Hey, if you want to oppose Romney for his policies (Lord knows I do), that's fine. More power to you.
But don't be prejudiced about the matter. Just because his personal beliefs might seem wacky to you, doesn't mean that the instant he gets into office there will be a pair of missionaries on every door. Cripes, of course he downplays his religion: look at the reaction to him here!
Myself, I got Dunked into the Mormon church about two years ago. Since then, well, I think I made the fastest transition from Mormon to Jack Mormon in Church history, but that's more to do with the structure of the Church than the actual Scripture/beliefs. And before you ask, I'm a card-carrying Democrat who wishes the Dems would show a bit of freakin' spine.
Oh, and if Cthulhu was a serious candidate, I'd vote for him. Can't be any worse than what's up there right now! :)
"So please, keep on backing Hillary! Go ahead and do everything you can to nominate someone who will fire up the Republican base like no Republican candidate in the field could. Please, they're struggling this year--give them a hand you charitable souls. Afterall, we might lose our underdog status if we won the White House and we wouldn't want that!"
News flash. Whoever the Democratic Party puts up there is going to be eviscerated by the Right Wing Media Echo Chamber. Isn't that why John Kerry was nominated in 2004? And look what happened to him!
I'm not a Hillary fan (I'd prefer Edwards), but whoever gets put into the spotlight out of the Big 3 is going to be crucified by the media and the right-wing the INSTANT they are nominated. If not sooner. So you might as well just vote for who you think will do the best job, because I'm sure you'll hear about all the flaws Obama, Clinton, or Edwards have in the coming months. And you'll hear about them ad nauseum while the media raves about how awesomely perfect "Bomb Iran" McCain is.
Honestly, every time Obama seems to "stumble" or "make a gaffe" that seems to be stretched and exaggerated by the media, his poll numbers appear to do one of two things:
1. Stay the same.
2. Increase.
I think a majority of people, real people, are tired of the baloney that is fed to us by the Mainstream Media. I think the majority want some sort of change.
Obama is not the best choice for this. But who is? Nader? It definitely isn't Hillary. And I was initially for Hillary, but as she went increasingly negative and divisive, I switched to Obama. Now, I don't mind a hard-fought campaign, but at this point... it really seems like she's treating the Democratic Party like Bush treated Iraq: We have to destroy the Party in order to save it!
A Pyrrhic victory isn't going to help anyone win against McCain in November. You know, McCain? The guy who is basically Bush 3.0?
I can guarantee one thing. No matter who wins, Clinton or Obama, I will vote for that winner over McCain. What strikes me as sad, and pathetic, is that quite a few people won't make this same promise. Maybe Obama or Clinton is only 50-60% of what you want. But that's a hell of a lot closer to what you want than McCain!
And between "Obamabots" and calling for firings, you all are acting with the maturity of the mainstream media! (I don't agree with the article, but it's her right to give a contrary view. Even if it is blatantly wrong.)
Now I need to get a squeegee to scrape all the sarcasm off the monitor of my laptop. Do you know how hard it is to avoid streaking?!?
Oh no, I said "streaking"! Clearly I have issues!
Reading the letters so far, I have to say I can see why 40% of Clinton's backers would be so bitter that they wouldn't consider voting for Obama.
Seriously, Carol? What's next? How many Obama supporters does it take to screw in a light bulb*? Can you be any more dismissive and trite?
You know what? I'm an Obama supporter, and I'm in the white working class. I got a BS in business from Utah State University, hardly an "elite" education. But hey, keep stereotyping, I'm sure McCain will thank you for it later...
* The answer is one, but the light bulb has to want to change. :)
They love him so much that they kept trying to thrust Reverend Wright, "bittergate", etc. into the spotlight for the previous two months as much as they could.
Yeah, they just LOVE him.
Sheesh, if you don't mind (and in fact gleefully point out) Obama's "bittergate", it seems a bit hypocritical that when Hillary makes an even bigger gaffe... THAT is Obama's fault, not hers!
But don't worry about Obama's media friendliness, once the primaries are over, all the dirt will come out. Because the corporate media doesn't want a Democrat in the presidency. And according to the increased frenzy of some of Hillary's supporters, that might become a legitimate possibility.
Which is not an attack on Hillary's supporters per se, just the alarming percentage that claim they won't vote for anyone (or worse, vote for McCain) in November. Have you even READ McCain's policies when you say this?
