The New Salon Spin
[Read the article: The haunting of the Democrats]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I thought, what with Hillary all set to lose and everything, the Obama bashing would have to stop. Nope. Now the focus is on how we're going to lose the election no matter who the candidate is. Big horse laugh here. Because you can be sure if it looked like victory for Hillary, no way would Joan Walsh let this piece run. At least, not without three stories offering the opposite opinion. But Obama won, so let's trash the Democrats' hopes. At Salon, the Obama bashing never ends, even if it means another Republican president. Great.

madamfauntleroy,
[Read the article: The haunting of the Democrats]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I can't make up my mind if I'm leaving Salon or not. I still love the culture stuff. And I like Cary Tennis. But now that "sabatage Obama" seems to be morphing into "sabotage Democratic chances because Hillary didn't win the nomination," that's really what I call going too far. And yes, I have so little trust in this site that I could believe they'd help tank this election on the off-chance of it aiding Hillary next go-round. (I don't think it really will do her any good, by the way, I don't think she'll actually get another chance because I don't think people will support her as strongly the second time around after the lack of character she's displayed this time)

I mean, look at that photo!
[Read the article: The haunting of the Democrats]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It boils my blood everytime I see it. Theoretically, this is an article claiming that no matter who wins the nomination, the Democrats are in trouble. But what is the picture? Is it Hillary juxtaposed with two previous losers? Is it both Obama and Hillary juxtaposed with two previous losers? Of course not.
Salon has no integrity. It does have an obvious agenda: to sink Obama at all costs and destroy the party's chances if Hillary's not the nominee. Insidious.

Michael Moore endorses Obama, largely because of Hillary's mud-slinging campaign.
[Read the article: The haunting of the Democrats]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Here are the highlights:
...the actions and words of Hillary Clinton have gone from being merely disappointing to downright disgusting. I guess the debate last week was the final straw. I've watched Senator Clinton and her husband play this game of appealing to the worst side of white people, but last Wednesday, when she hurled the name "Farrakhan" out of nowhere, well that's when the silly season came to an early end for me. She said the "F" word to scare white people, pure and simple. Of course, Obama has no connection to Farrakhan. But, according to Senator Clinton, Obama's pastor does -- AND the "church bulletin" once included a Los Angeles Times op-ed from some guy with Hamas! No, not the church bulletin!
This sleazy attempt to smear Obama was brilliantly explained the following night by Stephen Colbert. He pointed out that if Obama is supported by Ted Kennedy, who is Catholic, and the Catholic Church is led by a Pope who was in the Hitler Youth, that can mean only one thing: OBAMA LOVES HITLER!
Yes, Senator Clinton, that's how you sounded. Like you were nuts. Like you were a bigot stoking the fires of stupidity. How sad that I would ever have to write those words about you. You have devoted your life to good causes and good deeds. And now to throw it all away for an office you can't win unless you smear the black man so much that the superdelegates cry "Uncle (Tom)" and give it all to you.
But that can't happen. You cast your die when you voted to start this bloody war. When you did that you were like Moses who lost it for a moment and, because of that, was prohibited from entering the Promised Land.
How sad for a country that wanted to see the first woman elected to the White House. That day will come -- but it won't be you...
Finally, I want to say a word about the basic decency I have seen in Mr. Obama. Mrs. Clinton continues to throw the Rev. Wright up in his face as part of her mission to keep stoking the fears of White America. Every time she does this I shout at the TV, "Say it, Obama! Say that when she and her husband were having marital difficulties regarding Monica Lewinsky, who did she and Bill bring to the White House for 'spiritual counseling?' THE REVEREND JEREMIAH WRIGHT!"
But no, Obama won't throw that at her. It wouldn't be right. It wouldn't be decent. She's been through enough hurt. And so he remains silent and takes the mud she throws in his face.
That's why the crowds who come to see him are so large. That's why he'll take us down a more decent path. That's why I would vote for him if Michigan were allowed to have an election.
But you can read the whole thing at his website:

I guess I don't get it
[Read the article: I Like to Watch]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Maybe there's something wrong with me, but I don't see any great satire in South Park. It seems obvious and simpleminded to me. In the early days it was really funny, even if it was obvious and simpleminded. But now the jokes are tired, and the ideas are obvious. Yes, I caught the last episode, or some of it (I really can't watch for very long before I get fed up). I think back on it, I look at the quotes Harvilesky provides and I think: So? "Internet=porn." That's a great insight? :"People feel lost without the internet." That's another? Yes, they respond to the loss of the internet the way migrant workers responded to the loss of jobs in the Depression. Uh, okay. And?
Sometimes the show makes me laugh, though a lot less so than it used to. It's childish, but there's a place for that. And if I was 13 or 14, I'd probably think it was the greatest show ever. But I'm more than twice that age, and I don't understand the laurels Havrilesky lauds it with.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Generally, I wonder if anyone even sees my posts (even though I was the one who wrote a post about why people don't respond to them; say "Goodnight," Gracie).
