So in a sign of Party Solidarity Obama, Edwards, Biden, and Richardson all take their names off the ballot in Michigan - leaving only Clinton, Dodd (who had dropped out by the time the primary rolled around), Gravel, and Kucinich (the last two being the definition of fringe candidates) to compete in what everybody in the free world knew was a pointless exercise.

but yep, apparently Clinton was the only one who did the right thing...those other suckers should've known better. Party Loyalty be damned!

(actually, she's never ever showed even a shred of Party Loyalty...so I'm not sure why I'm surprised)

  • whatever

seat the whole bloody delegation she "won" in Michigan and Florida...go right ahead, it doesn't make a lick of difference...not a lick.

    She still loses.

can you please get that through your heads people? She. Still. Loses.*

(oops, I guess she *might* win the popular vote...but that's not the game here is it?)

*well actually, in all due fairness to our favourite poster karenn22 she doesn't *actually* lose, but she remains well behind in delegates, and superdelegates and would still have to pull of a putsch of epic proportions to get the nomination...and even if she did get the nomination in that manner the likelihood of her then winning the Presidency is so unbelievably remote that it really isn't worth mentioning.

  • of course...

So Obama gets 59 delegates? Why? Those "Uncommitted" voters weren't just for him. Biden, Edwards, Richardson also told their supporters to vote for "Uncommitted."

Biden had already dropped out and Richardson and Edwards have endorsed Obama so...

thanks for your reply! Like I said, I haven't really fleshed the idea out fully yet...but I think you're talking about something different than I am.

the simplest way I can put it (and again, I'm not sure if this is at all right...I'm just playing with ideas here :) is that Reagan, for example, was the Leader of a Movement. The Movement was Him. "L'Etat C'est Moi" in a way.

Obama is Leading a Movement. I strongly suspect that what he's tapped into (a strong desire for real, concrete action...and yes, bipartisanship instead of rancor) is not headed by him, but rather is a zeitgeist if you will..one that he represents but doesn't control.

    make ANY sense??

Jeez Walsh, are you gonna be getting it tonight!

time to break out the proverbial popcorn!

    cheers!

    Was this:

I couldn't believe Keith Olbermann did a special comment on it (which I really couldn't believe was also widely circulated via e-mail by the Obama campaign).

    in contrast with this:

"Did Sidney Blumenthal cross the line?"

(There's not a double standard at the editorial board here? Hmm?)

Hey, I noticed the same thing too! There certainly is ALOT of first time posters and they're all quite supportive of Walsh in relation to Matthews and they certainly sound VERY similar.

Hey, you're the first person to figure out what I wanna grow, grow up to be...

    two shiny quarters for you!

now back to our regularly scheduled shitstorm...

  • One thing about this Op Ed

[Read the article: A new low in Clinton bashing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

One thing about this Op-Ed REALLY irritates me. Walsh not so subtly derides the Obama campaign for circulating a clip of Olbermann's tirade (which I loved, I don't think he's a "journalist" in these screeds, he's giving an Op Ed...much like Walsh is here - on that level you have to take it for what it's worth...it doesn't pretend to be objective, so don't slam it for being unobjective) as proof that the Obama campaign is sneaky...or something.

Walsh decides to "let us behind the curtain" and gives us a peek at the world that journalists live in, where campaigns try to frame the message through the media. But it's not being fair - she's doing this to cast aspersions on the integrity of Obama's campaign.

Actually I wouldn't have a problem with this aspect at all...if not for the fact that Conason (who is a fairly senior writer here and as such can be said to have some bearing on the slant here) bent over backwards to convince us that there is nothing offside about Blumenthal (also a very senior writer here) circulating hateful Right Wing propaganda about Obama.

there's a double standard at play here that is pretty infuriating. It's like saying something is only a problem if my enemy engages in that behaviour (which, now that I think about it...is a classic neo-con trope.)

but I just spent some time over at Benen's new blog (the carpetbagger report), and I gotta tell ya...you really dropped the ball letting that one go (and criminally underusing him when he was here for that matter)...he's pretty great.

    cheers

thanks for the back-up...you're right, I am irritated. But screaming (at least typographically) that Clinton and Walsh are...well...we all know what epithet isn't helping (in the words of St Jon Stewart - who is Jewish I know, but still a saint in my books)

    cheers

  • Ya Know What?

[Read the article: Clinton makes appeal to superdelegates]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I'm getting to the point where I feel like saying "Ah Fuck It. You want this so bad then go ahead...be my guest, it's all yours you big crybaby. See you in 4 years."

I urge all superdelegates, and all pledged delegates, and all primary voters, and all caucus voters, and all pundits, and all family pets, and all carbon based lifeforms, to rally behind the cause of Hillary Rodham Clinton. Let's give her what she so richly deserves...the nomination to the Democratic Party.

Let her win...just so she'll STFU already.

(we'll be able to take out McCain in 2012 anyhow)

    ;)

    yep, I'm with you brotha/sista ;)

At this point I can't tell if her campaign and both their actions have slipped into farce or Sophiclean Tragedy.

(but part of me really does just want to give it the crybaby already ;)
