uh-oh
[Read the article: How Hillary Clinton botched the black vote]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I liked this article alot, it's an interesting counter-point to all the "why don't the Reagan Democrats like Obama" articles we've seen since Ohio. I found the part about how increasing her standing even 10% amongst African American voters would've drastically changed the game. Very informative stuff.
but man...is this letters section gonna get UGLY come tomorrow.
be prepared to see some rrreal ugly invective from our favourite trolls...

[Read the article: How Hillary Clinton botched the black vote]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Congratulations! You win the award for Most Batshit Crazy Post of the Day!
wow dude, just wow.
you quite literally compared Obama to the Communists AND the Fascists. Of course someone who has been around politics as long as you have doesn't need to be reminded that the Communists and the Fascists are on opposite ends of the spectrum so any comparisons between Obama and both those ideologies is absurd. Not to mention the fact that he's...ahem...running for president, not staging an October Revolution or a Beer Hall Putsch!
my word rphillips111, you really are the dumbest person I've ever read.

she botched not only the black vote..
[Read the article: How Hillary Clinton botched the black vote]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]but she also appears to be in the process of botching the educated vote beyond all repair. I imagine that every time she rails against the "elites", like...you know...economists and whatnot, she drives the wedge further and further between her and the educated set.
A demographic who, correct me if I'm wrong, broke in a big way for the Greens in 2000. It seems to me that alienating this group is arguably on par with alienated the African Americans. My gut instinct tells me that the latter will stay at home in November and sit out the elections, but the former will go out for 3rd parties in a big way. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see either Nader or the Greens get that magic 5% if Clinton pulls of the upset of the ages.
She sounds more and more like a Republican to these ears, and I'm thinking if she gets the nomination that Nader would be able to make his "both parties are the same" argument ALOT easier than if Obama gets it.

@gar
[Read the article: How Hillary Clinton botched the black vote]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]There's one other way she could get the nomination...and hoo boy does it stink!
You want to talk about destroying the Democratic Party for a generation, well here's one way to do it:

[Read the article: Stars, Sharks put the time in overtime]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]After watching last night's game, as well as many others from the Western Conference, I'm absolutely convinced that either Dallas or Detroit will cream Pittsburgh (I simply cannot abide by anyone picking Philly...RJ freakin'Umberger will have to cool down sometime).
I'm a Habs fan in Toronto so all I really watch is the Eastern Conference and the odd Edmonton or Calgary game before heading out on Saturdays so I didn't really get a chance to see what the West is all about. All I can say is wow. Just wow.
If last night was any indication, then Pittsburgh better be worried.
cheers!

two things
[Read the article: Obama is wrong about the gas tax]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]1) when did the L enter into "Obamatrons"? is there some new meaning behind "Oblamatrons" that I'm not aware of? Can anyone enlighten me?
2) odog, your comment about trucking? Well I used to work in the trucking industry (I know, how elitist of me!) and I gotta tell ya, a VERY large percentage of their fuel comes from the black market. Scrap yards and salvage yards sell their excess diesel for pennies rather than pay through to nose to get it removed from their premises. Just figgered you'd like to know.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]I was about to post one long refutation of your latest inane scribblings but instead i'll just let you be, knowing that, at best, you've come to resemble Alfred E. Neuman.
cheers!

[Read the article: Obama is wrong about the gas tax]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Europe is a bad example and does not have the sprawl phenomena or lack of public transportation services of the US."
Fair enough, but Canada is certainly a FANTASTIC comparison. And guess what? We pay 35% on the LITRE (and 1 gallon equals 3.89 litres). Gas right now is basically $1.20/l, which would work out to roughly $4.67/gallon. So not that far off your totals - except that $1.63 of that is taxes.
(taxes which, incidentally, help pay for things like healthcare)
So we pay WAY more for gas, and pay WAY more in taxes, and yet our working class hasn't been bankrupted yet...
jus' sayin'.

alright, I'll concede this
[Read the article: A pivotal day for the Democrats?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]IF Clinton sweeps the remaining contests by big margins (think over 10%), then yes, the Superdelegates would have a case to give her the nomination...but ONLY if Obama is the VP.
Any other what ifs are absurd.

meh
[Read the article: Chaos theory]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm also not convinced that this whole thing is having any bearing on the events whatsoever. And even if there were large numbers of Republicans turning out to vote they'd have to be in real big numbers to actually change anything.
I keep thinking of it like trying to rig an online popularity contest with a couple buddies...it's damn, damn hard to do, especially when at the end of the day you really don't care all that much about it anyways.
although the conspiracy theory enthusiast in me would posit that it certainly would explain Clinton's near universal appeal amongst rural voters....

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Actually, that certainly appears to be a gun. and it most definitely is smoking....
huh, that little nugget is certainly an eye opener. I can't think of any other explanation really.
