  • Jeebus Guys!

[Read the article: George Bush is John McCain's Rev. Wright]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Ease up on Walsh will ya? Gahd! It's painfully obvious that she was not making any moral equivalency between Wright and Bush...just that McCain's connection to Bush is an even bigger problem for him than Wright's connection to Obama is.

Let's all relax for a tick shall we?

I for one am pleased as fucking punch that this poll at least suggests that the American Electorate isn't as easily duped as we think when we're wringing our hands worried about electability and whatnot.

Cut Walsh some slack will ya??

I hear what you're saying my man, but I think this one is fairly tame...I'll let it slide.

btw - Luther wrote about the Babylonian Captivity of the Church, not it being The Whore of Babylon. The "captivities" included withholding the wine from the laity, and the notion that the mass was a genuine sacrifice of the Saviour and not a communal supper etc etc. Rome was keeping the people from God like Nebuchadnezzer was keeping the Jews from Babylon.

not that I'd expect no dirty Medievalist to care ;)

    ack!

I had a sneaking suspicion I mixed up the order or those two!

dang, guess I'll just go right ahead and take off these smarty pants now...

    cheers!

  • My list so far

[Read the article: George Bush is John McCain's Rev. Wright]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

of words or phrases that I NEVER want to hear again after this election season:

    1) "vetted"

    2) "parsed"

    3) "thrown under the bus"

    ack!

  • these viral emails?

[Read the article: Jewish supporters fundraising for pro-Obama ad]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I was wondering how these things, and the far rightwing conspiracy theories about Obama get out into the mainstream press. According to Huffington Post it's helped in no small part by our very own Sidney Blumenthal!

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/peter-dreier/sidney-blumenthal-uses-fo_b_99695.html

turns out he's been collecting all these stories and sending them off to his own private mailing list, who just happen to be in the opinion-makin' business. Odd behaviour for a dude that spent the 90s decrying the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy dontcha think?

anyways, check this excerpt out...there's some pret-ty familiar names here isn't there? Almost a who's who of Salon eh?

"Among those whose names show up as recipients of Blumenthal's emails are writers and journalists Craig Unger, Edward Jay Epstein, Thomas Edsall (Politics Editor of the Huffington Post), Joe Conason, Gene Lyons (Arkansas Democrat-Gazette columnist and author of The Hunting of the President: The Ten Year Campaign to Destroy Bill and Hillary Clinton), John Judis, Eric Alterman, Christine Ockrent, David Brock, Reza Aslan, Harold Evans, and Josh Marshall; academics and think tankers Todd Gitlin (Columbia U sociologist), Karen Greenberg (NYU law school), Sean Wilentz (Princeton historian), Michael Lind, William M. Drozdiak, and Richard Parker; and former Clinton administration officials John Ritch, James Rubin, Derek Shearer, and Joe Wilson."

just thought you'd be interested in this...I certainly found it illuminating.

    cheers

  • any difference?

Putting up flattering favorite book lists for the facebook generation sounds alot like keeping a dog eared copy of Le Petit Prince or On the Road in your back pocket in high school, in a vain attempt (stress on "vain") to impress the ladies.

    :)

(oh man, when I think back to those days....*cringe*)

  • I dunno

man, I listened to that thing about 5 times on bust with headphones and it certainly seems like he's saying those words. But you gotta rrreallly listen closely.

Which could explain why no one complained when the movie was released.

I think it's stupid though - who gives a shit what some dude with Bill's campaign said in 1992?? Immaterial.

(although the vengeful part of me does like the idea of watching someone else squirm for once ;)

    Hey,

I think it might be a good idea to tone down the "prostitution" talk. I know, I know, it's a rhetorical device for pointing out the shallowness of Clinton's policies and it wouldn't be sexist if she was a he. But the fact that she IS as she then we should prolly make more of an effort not to use such loaded language.

other than that, I totally agree with what you're saying

    cheers!

  • And this,

[Read the article: Voters freaked about economy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

is why the Democrats win in November.

    full stop.

    The Democrats win in November.

    period.

nice that you bring up the Great Depression.

I've been thinking for a while that we should try and get the meme out there that McCain is a second Hoover.

We could get people singing the All in the Family theme song, it'll be great!

(and it doesn't matter who is his running mate, Obama wins. Because he's a Democrat, and as I said earlier...the Democrats win in November. Period.)

  • don't be dumb wes

the Democrats will win in November.

I'll move to iceland if they don't...and you can join me when you finally make good on your Super Bowl prediction.

    The Dems will win.

but weren't we talking about a dumbass video here? How did we get onto ANOTHER debate about Michigan??

Oh right, it's another Republican Troll.

(doesn't anybody remember a few weeks ago he was outed by his co-worker? Ignore the braindead scumbucket...he's not worth the time or energy)

A few weeks ago on one of these threads (i can't remember which) someone who claimed to work with our favourite 'cat posted a message saying "don't believe lolcait, his name is Mike and he's voting for McCain, he's just trying to get you guys riled up" or something to that effect.

the message passed the sniff test, so I tend to believe it.

    cheers

  • let me get this straight

[Read the article: Did Sidney Blumenthal cross the line?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

When it's done to the Clinton's in the 90s it's vile, evil, odious, a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy and becomes the raison d'etre for Blumenthal's career.

When the very same Blumenthal uses the exact same techniques in favour of a Clinton and against a fellow democrat it's just a case of "all's fair in war and politics"?

and we don't see a problem here?

    really??
