    AHAHAHA!!

You just gave me my SECOND hearty laugh of the day...THANKS!!

No really, you guys remember that Seinfeld episode where George thinks the waitress is flipping him off b/c she points with her middle finger? You remind me of that. You remind me of George Costanza. Let that sink in for a minute...George. Costanza.

    whoa. just whoa.

    about this media bias.

So the media has a bias towards Obama right?

So when Stephanopoluous asks "Do you love America more the Reverend Wright?" or "Why don't you wear a flag pin?" or "Why are you friends with a terrorist?" He's actually showing the media bias FOR Obama?

Huh. They sure do have a funny way of showing it.

There is something quietly awesome about seeing the words "Canadiens beat Bruins" in the headline to my favourite sports column! I've been savouring it all day.

p.s. I really hope Montreal can avoid New York in round two - Lundqvist is the only goalie left in the East who can win a series all by himself. I don't see much else to that Rangers squad to be honest, but Lundqvist scare the bejeebus out of me.

    cheers

wow man, you need to chill out! You are honestly trying to equate Obama with Shrub??

    Really?!?!

Dude, why don't you go outside, take a walk, enjoy this glorious weather, just relax man...you're starting to veer into tinfoil hat territory my friend.

"Bill Clinton has spend the last few years struggling - successfully - to get low-cost AIDS drugs to the people of Africa - saving untold numbers of lives. Does Obama have anywhere near that kind of accomplishment?"

I had NO idea that philanthropy paid so well! $109 million for all that good work...why that's almost A-Rod money!

(in all honesty though, wouldn't it be nice if that were true :)

I like to think I've been following this dang primary pretty closely, but maybe I haven't.

Can anyone tell me if Jackson Jr. has been anywhere near the campaign since January?

I don't recall ever hearing his name since the katrina comment.

was garbage, and I say this as someone who kinda wanted Philly to win (would rather my Habs not play against that freak of nature Lundqvist just yet).

There's no way you can argue that Thorensen (sp?) didn't knock the D-man into Huet, who was still in the crease, sure it may not be regular old interference, but how could it not be goaltender (or as ol' Chretien used to say "goaler") interference? It's a shame that such a brilliant series gets marred by such a crappy call.

The penalty in OT? Not such a crappy call...it was tripping.

That it's becoming painfully clear that both Gore and Edwards need to man up and make their choices already.

At this point I don't care who they break for, just break already.

I suspect that this thing will be settled in 13 days...by the time we hit West Virginia the supers will make their choices known.

  • The draft

[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

When did we start seeing this whole "sign the first pick before the draft" thing? Was Williams the first? Alex Smith? It seems odd to me, that you can agree on a contract before you actually hire the guy...but then the draft always seemed a little weird to me anyways, in what other field can you say to someone "hey, you're working for us! And if you don't like it too bad, you can't work for anybody else unless we let you!"?

    it's kinda creepy.

    c'mon wes,

that's like saying the Colts started the season 10-2, stumbled down the stretch going 1-3, and because of that their division leading record of 11-5 means they shouldn't win the division, even though the 2nd place Jaguars finished up 9-7.

poppycock my friend, and you know it.

Yeah, I know...it's just always seemed weird to me (the draft, in any sport).

I hadn't thought about it until Eric Lindros refused to play for Quebec, and while that stoked my nationalist fires, I had to concede that his position made sense.

I do understand though that if you want into that exclusive job market then you gotta play by their rules...it's just that their rules are kind of weird.

I agree with your sentiment too...I tend to jump all over the place on this issue, my head says "this is absurd" my heart says "just play the stupid game for gobs of money"

Another thing though - I can see more of a point to NFL players not playing for teams that drafted 'em...the lack of guaranteed contracts coupled with the short average career gives a bit more credibility to a player wanted to play for a team that he wants to play for. I mean, if your career is potentially only 3 years long and you could get cut at any time, then why wouldn't you try to play for a team you want to?

    cheers

p.s. I've also been wasting numerous work hours, Super Bowl level wasteage, at the Sports Illustrated Vault. Did anyone happen to find the William Faulkner piece about hockey? It's one odd read. I guess it's cool to see my favoured sport get the literary treatment (why does baseball and boxing get all the love?), but jeebus, Faulkner's piece is so obscured that had he not said "Rocket Richard" I'd have no idea what he was talking about!

the article is linked in my signature (I hope)
