[Read more letters about this article: Here]I honestly and truly enjoyed reading your post. That was wonderful.
(I'm not being sarcastic for once, that truly was beautifully written.)

[Read the article: The rubes and the elites]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Here's a tip: if you want people to stop stereotyping you and your family, then it's probably not a good idea to go around stereotyping your stereotypers
jeebus, "McMansions"? "Ivory Towers"? Could you get anymore offensive? The point is that you have no idea the life stories of anyone on this site, not a one. You don't know how many of us also grew up in blue collar homes, went to school, EARNED our degree, and tried to make it in this world. Our left-leaning politics is not borne out of some sense of elitism but rather deep and genuine love for our brethren. We aren't trust fund babies around here...but you wouldn't know that because you didn't take the time to consider that possibility before you tarred all of us with the most preposterous brush imaginable.
My friend, you need to look long and hard into that metaphorical mirror before you start insulting those you don't know.
good day

[Read the article: Shocker: Angela Merkel has boobs!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Too...many....juvenile jokes...to...be made....must....resist!
(or in my best Bob Hope voice "I guess Angela Merkel has brought out the big guns. Big guns" *golf swing* "ahem.")
but seriously, every once in a while I'm confronted with something that reminds me just how very different Europe is from North America. This would be one of those times.

Are we in agreeance about that at least?

I heart Third Parties!
[Read the article: How about a five-way race in November?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This is just plum awesome news, awesome! And Wes, I'd LOVE to see Clinton run as an Independent! I'd even concede an Obama loss due to vote splitting if only to see a viable third party emerge.
Democracy needs Third Parties, most of the rest of the world already has 'em...what's the hold up America?

[Read the article: How about a five-way race in November?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]but why do they get shut out? There's nothing in the system that shuts them out, only voters.
What I mean is, there's no reason why the Senate Majority Leader must represent one of only two parties. If there were three parties, there'd still be a majority, you'd still need a majority to pass legislation...etc etc etc.
I just think that the electorate has to be willing to take their lumps and lose a few cycles before they see results. Incidentally it's not a coincidence that many third parties had their start during the Depression, when the electorate had absolutely nothing to lose.
p.s. to wysiwyg - in the UK they have Single Member Plurality, there's no coalitions unless the party that forms the government doesn't have a majority, then you get a minority government and the only way to pass legislation is to get other parties to agree with you. It's pretty great when it works (it's how Canada got Healthcare)...also non-confidence votes kick ass :)
cheers!

A point of order
[Read the article: Obama and Clinton fizzle in Philly]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]for all the Clinton fans here.
when a front runner doesn't lose a debate than yes, he wins. This is standard folks.

Interesting
[Read the article: Obama and Clinton fizzle in Philly]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]All the Clinton supporters here are the only ones who didn't have a problem with the tone of last night's debate (there are exceptions of course).
Interesting isn't it? It's almost like they mirror their favoured candidate's glee in wallowing in the muck and the filth of personal attack politics.
I for one am just happy as a clam that you guys and gals are so keen to elevate the discourse! You're a credit to your nation!

[Read more letters about this article: Here]well d'uh! No kidding he needs her "blessing" at the convention.
same thing would apply if the situation was reversed, she'd need HIS "blessing" or she'd be dead in the water.
are you channelling your inner Captain Obvious today?

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"We haven't decided what we are going to do yet"
AHAHAHAHAHA!! Wes my man you're a GENIUS! I love you think YOU have any bearing on Clinton's plans..
I can see it now, Clinton sitting in a dimly lit boardroom, surrounded by Bill, Penn, Wolfson, Ferarro and all her high ranking campaign managers as they are hashing out their strategy for the upcoming weeks. First Wolfson speaks, then Penn, the Bill and so on down the line...the conversation gets heated as opposing factions make their cases, the cacophony reaches a fever pitch until Clinton calls out "HEY! PEOPLE!!!" and she hammers her fist on the big oak table until a quiet spreads across the room. She clears her throat and says quietly "Thank you, but that's enough. Your opinions will be taken under advisement." she pauses for a second and says "There is one person I haven't heard from yet though, someone whose opinion is of utmost value, my reignmaker" and she peers down to the end of the big oak table looking into the darkened corner of the room, all the eyes at the meeting follow hers towards the same shadowy figure whom they had hitherto ignored. Clinton folds her hands together and says in hushed, almost reverent tones "Wes, what do YOU think I should do?"
(man, you made my week Wes! AWESOME!!!)

coddled? CODDLED?!?
would you please tell me either:
1) what wonderful bizzaro planet you've been living on these last few months
or
2) tell me what wonderful, delicious drugs you are on, and where I can get some.
