A few thoughts
[Read the article: The Obama difference]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]1) Clinton supporters - you guys have an article today fawning over her...howzabout you guys write glowing paeans to her over there and leave this one to us "Obamaniacs"? Deal?
2) For those who deride Obama as being personable and able to relate with Americans, and how that's exactly what Bush had...well jeebus, that's the ONLY positive Bush had! And remember, that guy won TWO elections! Obviously Obama isn't going to be the same President that Bush was (does anyone actually think that Obama is a secret neo-con?!)...but man, maybe the fact that he can relate to average americans is...i dunno...a good thing??
3) Along the same lines - I've been wondering lately what McLuhan would've thought about these two candidates. Obama (and Bush) seem to be "cool" media types while Clinton is "hot"...it seems that people respond better to "cool", I think McLuhan wouldn't be surprised at all at how things have shaken down thus far. Does anyone with a better understanding of McLuhan think the same?
4) One thing about Obama - the man looks comfortable in a suit. I see men (myself included) all day long in suits, and it's the (very) rare man that looks at ease in them. Most men look slightly hunched, slightly uncomfortable...but not Obama, he looks like he was born in a suit. It may not mean much of anything, but it's certainly rare.

@sajwan
[Read the article: Yet another "3 a.m." ad released]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I wholeheartedly agree with you on this one. Proof that maybe the whole Obama/Clinton slugfest going on here can be breeched?
I certainly hope so...the last thing this world needs is Bush the Third mucking things up for another 4 years.
cheers!
-
wes, you know I love ya man,
[Read the article: Yet another "3 a.m." ad released]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]but that last one there cuts pretty close to home for lots of people here (myself included).
poor form old chap, poor form.

yay!
[Read the article: Richardson said Obama can't beat McCain?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The Republican Trolls are out in full force today!
A very hearty "how ya doin'?" to lolcait and odog! Good to have you around for a larf...now could you do us all a kindness and ramp it up a few notches? This afternoon coffee isn't doing the trick and I needs me a pick-me-up
-
sure!
[Read the article: Hillary Clinton's petition ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Seat 'em all you want, but you better recalculate the nomination threshold as well (that threshold was set when both MI and FL counted as 0).
I'm actually surprised the Clinton camp is doing this...if it actually works it takes away a major argument (that she'd be winning if only they seated MI and FL).
cheers

@jebldmm
[Read the article: Hillary Clinton's petition ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"on the side of angels"?!?!
wow, NOW who's been drinking the kool-aid?
(and just so's you know...as soon as you say the word "disenfranchise" in relation to these two PRIMARIES you lose any credibility whatsoever...for the millionth time, not being privy to the nomination process bites, but disenfranchisement it ain't. Or am I wrong? Do only people who vote in primaries get to vote in elections?)
-
you're disappointing me lolcait
[Read the article: Richardson said Obama can't beat McCain?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I second dkmoorhead...there's something off with you today. I can usually expect a healthy dose of bile and hilarity spewing forth from your venomous fingertips...today? well you just don't seem to have your heart in it.
best call it a day, don't worry...you'll get 'em next time champ, next time.

not a negative for me..
[Read the article: Would you vote for a smoker?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The fact that he smokes is a huge positive! I was actually a little disappointed when he said he quit for the campaign.
then again the only parts of "Friends" that are funny are the parts where Chandler smokes.
then again I am French-Canadian, where the much beloved, and departed separatiste premier Rene Levesque was never seen without a smoke in hand (and to this day people put smokes between the fingers of his statue - yeah, the sculptor left space for a cigarette)
...man I want a smoke now.

lilybean
[Read the article: Hillary Clinton's petition ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]you have any proof of this? Anything even remotely credible? Or is that just a hunch of yours?

@MCM (why is charisma a 4 letter word?)
[Read the article: The Obama difference]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Remember, people voted for Dubbya because he made them comfortable, because they thought they would and could have a beer with the guy. Personal appeal does not translate to personal power or public service."
you're missing the point here, the point is...Bush won...TWICE! Remind me again why winning is a bad thing? What I mean is, if America voted for Bush because of personal appeal then what's wrong with having one of our guys have personal appeal?
What should we do? Have a candidate that no one finds warm or appealing, one that no one finds they relate to? We should only support a candidate based on his/her policy positions?
Oh wait, we did that already. His name was John Kerry.
how did that turn out again?

alright Xanthro
[Read the article: Richardson said Obama can't beat McCain?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]you win...Obama will get crushed in the general...worse than mondale...he won't win a single state...not a single american will cast a vote for him (well a few of the ex-pats living in Paris will)...it will be the single greatest electoral defeat in the history of electoral defeats.
you win.
now will you kindly shut the fck up about it already?

Isn't it amazing
[Read the article: Hillary Clinton's petition ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]at how quickly and deeply the Clinton Clan have drunk the koolaid about MI and FL?
Just like their fearless leader they all insist that Obama is the only one blocking a revote and "disenfranchising" the voters in both states? Not one of them will even broach the subject of Hillary's bait and switch in Michigan...they're so enthralled with their Holy Mother that they refuse to see the stains on her garb!
(see? those little epithets sting don't they?)

and in other news
[Read the article: Clinton denies she said Obama can't win]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Jimmy Carter has all but endorsed Obama, and two of Clinton's superdelegates (one of which is Murtha) has publicly stated that if she doesn't win the popular vote then they'll switch their loyalties.
know where I heard this? On network freaking news! Salon, this is not acceptable! I shouldn't be hearing this stuff from them before you...I depend on you guys!
