  • well colour me confused..

"ask anyone on the street who Norman Hsu and Peter Paul are, no one will know or care."

fair enough...the media doesn't cover these old stories.

    but then:

"the media bias for obama won't help him then because he won't have bill clinton to attack."

I don't get it...the media ignores the potentially damaging Clinton stories because they have a pro-obama bias??

    *scratches head*

  • if the media is so in love with Obama...

Then they've sure had a funny way of showing it these last three weeks...

(or maybe you mean "love" like an abusive spouse means it?)

then Richardson for sure - if only for that kickin' beard he's got!

So Obama faces the biggest shitstorm of his career and comes out virtually unscathed? I'm beginning to think he's got a bit of the ol' Billy Clinton teflon on him!

""[W]hite Democrats who hold unfavorable views of Obama are much more likely than those who have favorable opinions of him to say that equal rights for minorities have been pushed too far; they also are more likely to disapprove of interracial dating, and are more concerned about the threat that immigrants may pose to American values. In addition, nearly a quarter of white Democrats (23%) who hold a negative view of Obama believe he is a Muslim."

That doesn't sound very Democrat to me...

really?!? There are *actually* people who still disapprove of Interracial Dating?!?! Honestly?!!?

I gotta say, that one surprised me. I figured "miscegenation" was a word that was relegated to the dustbin of history. That's kinda depressing...sigh.

re: You all assume a radical black nationalist is a bad thing

For some reason when I read that subject line it made me think of that Richard Pryor SNL skit, ("Dead Honkey!!")

    thanks for the smile!

    cheers

I think you're mixing up our dear Wes and "sonofloud". Wes is fine...he actually has a point to what he's saying (however obscure it might seem at times). ShawnWM and sonofloud are nothing but amateurish freeper trolls.

    cheers

  • an honest question

[Read the article: Leahy: Clinton should quit]

Were other primary campaigns this nasty? I can't recall 2000 or 2004 being this divisive...but I could be wrong, were they?

I ask because it seems curious to me that Clinton is using general election campaign tactics against a member of her own party. I can understand winning by cutting down a Republican opponent, but to do so against a party member seems odd. I'm specifically thinking of "shame on you!" and the open mocking the following day...

What I mean is that I was under the impression that in a nomination campaign you try to make the case that you're the most qualified to lead your party - not that the other isn't.

am I seeing history through rose coloured glasses? Were democratic nomination campaigns always this dirty?

I think you might be mistaking this forum with others, I haven't seen any openly sexist insults hurled at Clinton 'round these parts in a LONG time. "Clown" or "Joke" and the like sure...but I really haven't seen "hag" or "b.tch" being written (maybe there have been a few that I've missed, but it certainly isn't a recurring theme)

For the most part, Obama supporters have been above the belt in their criticisms of Clinton (sonofloud and ShawnWM? Not so much...)

    that's all really.

    cheers

thanks for the reply...I guess I was looking at things through rose coloured glasses (or maybe I'm thinking of Canadian leadership conventions, they are generally all above board)

it just seems curious that such bare-knuckle campaigning would be tolerated by the Party itself (do American parties have "whips" to keep members in line?)

(now onto the serious stuff...how much you wanna bet my habs do better than your devils come playoff time? ;)

you're not disproving my assertion...outside of "hillary the hag" and "harridan" (although I confess, I love that word...but then I also love "gutter-snipe"...but I digress ;) the invective levelled at Clinton has not been overtly sexist.

that's not to say that people haven't been pretty vocal about their distaste, but i don't think you can rightfully claim it all to be sexist.

that's all I was arguing...that sexist language isn't pervasive here.

(whereas you get people like sonofloud or ShawnWM calling Obama the "affirmative action candidate"...which I think we can all agree is a pretty odious thing to say)

    cheers

I guess we can add "dhdOWNEY" to the list of people who don't know what "disenfranchise" actually means!

(hint: not being party to helping pick a political party's (which are, ya know, private institutions) candidate is not the definition ;)

Good to see Obama picking up another delegate, maybe this thing will be over sooner rather than later.

(in other news I think I'm gonna tune out this horserace crap for the week...lord knows it's become more than a little tiresome. So for me, the last news I'll hear until next monday will be "Obama picks up another superdelegate", and I sincerely doubt I'll miss anything of import. Don't worry Joan, I'll still frequent your site - Check in on King Kaufman more regularly, see what silly advice Cary Tennis is giving, laughing with Keith Knight...but man, my soul needs a rest! Maybe we should all consider such a spiritual cleansing :)
