  • Never fun...but easy to laugh off

[Read the article: Do loose chicks sink dicks?]

Yeah, it's happened to me on occasion, usually when I'm with a girl I'm not completely "into," so to speak. It's tricky because the more you mentally fret, the softer it tends to get. We're simutaneously at our most comfortable, and our most exposed, during sex. Does losing my erection make me feel less like a man? Maybe a little. But i'm mostly just peeved because it tends to make the girl feel less sexy or she starts to agonize that there's something wrong with her. Of course, none of that is true. Whether it happens with someone you truly love or someone to whom you're relatively indifferent, it's best just to eat humble pie and try to keep a sense of humor about the whole prediciment. We're all human...and we all have central nervous systems that can act a little crazy at times or beyond our control. There's so much unspoken shit going on when your having sex that it doesn't hurt to just say "fuck...I'm sorry about this but maybe give me a moment to collect my thoughts while I go down on you and then perhaps a bit later I'll be ready to go again." What the hell is so wrong with that?

  • Is the sculpture white chocolate or ice cream?

[Read the article: "Flags of Our Fathers"]

Not that it matters in the scheme of things, but nearly every film critic mentions the scene when strawberry sauce is poured over the confectionery sculpture, and yet some say it's ice cream and others say chocolate. Which is it?

  • "I get it" indeed.

[Read the article: "Sopranos" wrap-up: Uncomfortably numb]

According to closed captioning, Tony S. indeed said, "I get it." I tend to watch the Sopranos w/ cc enabled because, in an odd way, it gives you a better appreciation of Chase's dialogue, as well as little hints about the characters' incorrect word usage that you may miss w/out the benefit of captioning.

On an entirely different note, does anyone else feel a little awkward everytime we see Tony wheezing away in bed with some gorgeous donnina? I realize these women dig power and money, but that scene in last night's episode when Tony is doing the nasty with that hooker/stripper was just too much of a disconnect, especially when they engaged in sweet pillow-talk afterwards. Yeah, James G is the man, but c'mon!

  • What about Two Lovers?

[Read the article: Clint, Angelina and the movie with no name]

Will we get an in-depth analysis of Mangold's "Two Lovers" as well?

  • Terrific Interview

[Read the article: Torn between "Two Lovers"]

Just what I had hoped for. This films sounds better and better the more I read about it. Intriguing indeed. A pleasure to listen to two (film) lovers discuss the creative undercurrents of making a relatively unique contemporary movie about people dealing with REAL ISSUES.

Jeez, James Gray is well spoken. As are you, Mr. O'Hehir. Loved the "surrealist French poet" reference...

  • Any thoughts on THE WRESTLER?

I'm interested in your thoughts on Mickey Rourke in THE WRESTLER. I hear he was the talk of Venice...
