IOKIYAR

Maybe with a more even handed policy towards Israel 9/11 would never have happened, hence neither would we find ourselves in Iraq or Afghanistan. Look at how many more people would be alive today, ours included, if none of this had ever happened. Gee, maybe we could even afford health care for everyone in this country.

All about Specter

Not about what is good for the Dems or good for the country, just what is good for Arlen. Shorter: How can I stay in power?

Saturday, March 28, 2009 08:24 AM

And then we have Arlen Specter

Self-serving politician or principled leader and his decision to vote against EFCA....among others.

Hard left?

In a center-right country. Go figure.

I have a couple of letters kicking around the house

From the Democratic party asking for donations. I now know what to do. I'm sending the envelope back empty, but with a note explaining why. When they, as a party, start standing up for the Constitution and the rule of law, and against telecom immunity and against Bush's radical agenda, then I will send them a contribution. Until then, I will contribute to individual candidates and Blue America causes that I feel reflect true Democratic values and that are worth spending my hard earned dollars on. Maybe if enough people did this the party MAY catch on......MAY.

Pretty Good Trick

The Telecoms using money that they got from their customers, the public, to subvert the honest legislative process that was intended and use the system against.....the public. Kind of like the drug companies using part of the money they get from the sales of drugs to advertise to the public to get them to use....more drugs. And on and on. Why don't they create some good will by doing the honest thing and reducing their prices? Oh yeah, I almost forgot, greed. It's the capitalist way.

Good On Glenn

For doing a fine job. The job that our Congress Critters should be doing. Also the job the DOJ should be doing...probably others too. If, as Harry Reid said over the weekend, Congress will be holding hearings into this matter, all they have to do is come here and read Glenn's column and most of their work will be done for them. All they will have to do is dot the I's and cross the T's. Probably too much to ask, huh?

If Israel is such a good friend of ours,

Then why does it continue to spy on us? And why do we continue to look the other way and unquestioningly support Israel? Could it be that we are being used again....still?

How to change all this

Put a Democrat in the White House. I'm fairly sure that if a Dem tried something like this, there would be a huge outcry from the media. But....IOKIYAR

Remember Armstrong Williams

The same sort of thing. They got caught then too. Can't this administration do anything right? OOps....Oil @ six times the price per barrel as when Dim Son took office. I guess they can. It just depends on how one defines right.

All I can say is

I'm just glad we're all alive here is morning, having dodged the midnight bullet last night. I woke up around 3AM and things were all dark. I got scared, but quickly realized that it was still nighttime.

RE: Update three

Better "wiser" stances than "wider". Sorry. Couldn't help myself.

Original article: Abject stupidity defined

It's always about fear....or smear with the right.

It's all they have. It certainly is not about brains.

A shorter take on all of this

They can dish it out, but they sure can't take it.

Maybe "Fox Views" would be more appropriate

http://www.projectcensored.org/publications/2005/11.html

"In February 2003, a Florida Court of Appeals unanimously agreed with an assertion by FOX News that there is no rule against distorting or falsifying the news in the United States."

This should tell everyone all they have to know about the state of traditional "journalism" in the US.

Bush always listens and heeds the advise of his commanders on the ground, RIGHT?

Starting way back when with General Shensheki, I've lost count of all the Generals Bush has gone through. As soon as one says or does something that does not reflect Bush's line of lies, he. is. gone. A few have probably even had attacks of the conscience. I wonder how many have actually been tossed under the bus before Bush was able to come up with this guy.

It may be a minor point.....but

What is going on in Iraq right now is an occupation by US forces. We won the war in fairly short order and disbanded the Iraqi Army. The war that is happening now is mainly a civil war between the Iraqi people. There is also a guerrilla war ongoing against the occupation. As occupiers, we have failed to maintain order and security. Not the troops fault. Our "leadership" was warned. We here all know this, but continue to call it "war" anyway. I wonder if it serves our best interests.

Since we also all know what the administration game plan is, shouldn't we be trying to get out in front of it and trying to affect an outcome the majority of Americans would like to see? I would like to see a funding bill passed that mandates substantial troop withdrawals very soon. Sure Bush will veto it. But keep sending it to him over and over. Let him be the one to defund the occupation/troops. No signing statements. I'd also like to see either in that bill or a separate one, legislation forbidding Bush to bomb Iran without congressional approval. I know, dream on.

One thing seems certain. If things drag on, and a Dem ends up in the WH before the troops start coming home, guess who is going to get blamed for this whole wreck. Or get the credit for getting us out of this mess. Which will it be? FWIW
