It's all too easy to turn these arguments for not letting a woman choose around. If someone has an incredibly stupid, irresponsible, and shallow reason for not wanting a child, might it not be in everybody's best interest for this person not to become a parent?
People who can't handle friendships with members of the opposite sex are desperate to convince themselves that nobody else can, either. Thus, they write books and screenplays to that effect, as well as misogynistic comments on Salon articles....
There's one and only one way to silence the birthers: make Obama white, with a white-sounding name. If you can't do that, there's no point in trying (particularly when they won't even admit that the real issue is race).
When the hell is Camille Paglia's head gonna roll?
It's not that he "doesn't like nuance." He just doesn't know what the word means.
To anyone who says the Dems are being opportunistic, shameless, unfair, etc.: you're right.
To anyone who says the Republicans wouldn't do the same thing in a heartbeat: you've gotta be kidding.
Great parody of a long winded over-the-hill indie rock snob. The only thing missing is a mention of how superior the British pressings are.
Here's an idea, Glenn: let's you and I have a fist-fight. We'll give ourselves nick-names: you'll be "the left wing" and I'll be "the right wing." You'll follow old-school rules of fair play, and I'll use every dirty trick in the book. Who do you think's going to win? Most likely, the same side that's won practically every battle for the last forty years. Progressives need to drop their Naderite "better to lose and feel smug about being right than to compromise" attitude and realize that moral victories are nothing but losses.
As a blogger, I see lots of other people's blogs. In many cases, I can't imagine how anybody who isn't one of the blogger's close friends or family members would find them interesting. Nonetheless, I see some of these incredibly personal bloggers looking for readers on social networking sites and leaving links on other people's blogs, and, in some cases, they have hundreds of followers, and get loads of comments from people who clearly don't know them personally.
So, if there's anything "creepy" here, it's part of a much larger creepy phenomenon (which is probably part and parcel of the reality TV phenomen).
Actually try reading the piece and then think a bit before commenting. You might figure out that it's satire.
You make some good points in analyzing Lieberman's recent behavior. But I'm sticking with my own explanation: he's an asshole.
So, Beck's suggesting that next year he and Palin and Limbaugh are gonna hijack races all over the country, rubbing out moderates so that Democrats who normally wouldn't have had a chance will win?
Bring it on!
Wow...Marilyn Manson's pathetic...
