Glenn, I also wanted to thank you for bringing this issue to light, because Lord knows Fux Newz isn't. For some insane reason I actually sat through episodes of both The O'Puh-Leeze Factor and Inanity and Gnomes to see what type of lies they would try to spin this "new" (giggle) revelation about the Valerie Plame case. They didn't mention it at all. But then, all those Miss Universe clips and Rosie O'Donnell analysis/hit jobs aren't going to showcase themselves you know. (By the way Michelle Malkin also chose to comment on Miss Universe over Valerie Plame, like did the Donald rent out a few right-wing shills for the day or something? Sheesh!)
Of course you know what this means, right? When these bottom-feeders DO get around to responding to the Plame claims (assuming they're not distracted by Anna-Nicole reanimate corpse untill then of course) they'll pretend this confirmation Didn't Happen, and they'll still be debating whether Plame was covert or not. (After all, Sean Hannity, in the above mentioned episode revealed that he must be secretely be GoldenBoy since he repeated the same set of distortion about 25% of Muslims approving suicide bombing.)
Glenn you forgot to mention one other point. Republicans just LOVE to blast "Hollyweird" for their "warped" values that are intensely out-of-touch with "regular America", yet they seem to JUMP at the chance to push one of these "corrupt denizens of Tinsletown" as canidates (Reagan, Swarzeneeger, Thompson, Bono etc.) Kinda bizzare for a party that hates everything Hollywood stands for, don't you think?
Also, why do they always pick the shitty actors to represent their party? (after all brain trust like Bo Derek are also Republicans.) Is it a case of "those who can't, politick?
For God's sake people. I suspect it's less about her merely being released as much as the false hope "we" had that she would actually be held accountable for something in the first place. If she was just given a slap on the wrist in the first place, I think people who were following this would have just shrugged and said, "well what else is new?" I know that's what I expected to happen. After all, her "fame" is built on exactly this type of entitlement and privilage, and it's par for the course in Hollywood. So imagine that there are judges that state (gasp!) that being rich and famous doesn't prevent you from suffering the consequence of your actions (And they DID give her every chance. She already had TWO vialotions of her probation, her original sentence was reduced by half, and she even got to pose with her ratty extensions and wonky-eyed contacts, items they don't allow other inmates. So they DID show her some leniency). Even with that though, this judge wasn't playing around. (Something that seemed to be a delightful theme this year, what with Joe Francis and Scooter Libby already being convicted). So it seemed like one big cock tease when it turned out (at the time anyway), that oops, the judge didn't know that Celebrities ARE suppose to get a slap on the wrist and let her out early.
By the way, if Paris was relased for "overcrowding" then why didn't they say that in the first place (like they did with Ana Lucia)? Why this bullshit claim about "illness" (well she DID have a Valtrex bottle in her name so maybe it's true.)
I say just sent her to Gitmo, or the terrorist will have won.

Um...Salon? Can you please use the money you would have paid Debra Dickerson for this "article" and sent it to a nice therapist for her instead? Because Debra might want to settle her personal "race issues" (and go back to journalism school) before she offers up another infuriating facile screed on "Black culture."
I mean has she EVER written an article about Black life that didn't come across as self-hating? From her multiple "Obama ain't Black, y'all" rants, to her hand-wringing about explaining her own skin color and culture to her children, to this laughable cring-worthy attempt to link a Black female aesthetic to obesity on the sheer basis of a slim big-bootyed pin-up, Dickerson's articles always seem to be about someone not fitting into or living up to her own twisted perceptions of African-American culture (hint, hint, hint, like way to project there, Debra!)
Salon, I was willing to give DD the benefit of the doubt, but I'm tired of reading what in essence conseling session. Let's put Debra on the couch and save the Black culture analysis for African-Americans who can actually make sense, please.
