Not that it's an excuse . . .
[Read the article: Oh no they didn't]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]But no one's mentioned the alliteration in the phrase "Obama's Baby Mama." Someone at Fox probably thought he was being witty, putting that english/journalism degree to work.
That aside. It is both a racist and sexist thing to say. And for all of my disagreements with many of Joan's previous arguments, I think it is important that Joan is recognizing that Michelle is being attacked and is facing sexism (many other feminists and Hillary supporters are not prepared to do this). I also think that we Obama supporters should try to understand that these attacks on Michelle are the type that Hillary's supporters felt their candidate faced regularly. It may help us to understand why they are still so angry (although, oddly, not from Fox News).
For me, it has been infuriating to watch as Michelle Obama has been attacked by both Hillary's campaign and the media (the rumor about the 'whitey' video was started by a Hillary supporter), and to not be able to talk about how the attacks on Michelle are just as virulently sexist as the attacks on Hillary. Just like there are so many things to admire about Hillary, there are so many things to admire about Michelle. We should be doing what we can to make sure that these kinds of attacks don't go unanswered. However angry Hillary supporters may still be, it's ridiculous to suggest that Michelle now deserves to be insulted and belittled because Hillary faced sexism and lost her bid.
Finally, this has been addressed before, but Michelle did not say she would not vote for Clinton. She said she would have to think about campaigning for her. There are already many lies that are being circulated about Michelle. Please stop repeating this one.

[Read the article: Oh no they didn't]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Claiming this ugly rumor came from Hillary's campaign is another way of calling Hillary a racist and saying she is playing the race card."
I didn't say that Hillary is a racist and I don't think that she is a racist. I have said that I do think that Hillary's campaign made race an issue. You are free to disagree.
The rumor about the "whitey" video, to my knowledge, came from Larry Johnson and from the bloggers at Hillbuzz. Both remain ardently pro-Hillary
"What do you mean the Media has attacked Michelle Obama?/I hardly consider Faux news "the Media./What other attacks have come towards Michelle?"
Whether or not you consider Fox the media, millions of people in America and around the world get their news from Fox. In addition to the "baby mama" comment, there was the "terrorist fist jab," there were the comments from Maureen Dowd about how Michelle has emasculated Obama, there were the comments in Newsweek and other mainstream publications about her "associations" with radical black leaders and her college papers on "black extremism." Some Republicans and some Hillary supporters have tried to paint Michelle as a dangerous ball busting black bitch who wants to kill 'whitey.'
"As for your being infuriated with these "media attacks" where is your fury over the unceasing media attacks on Hillary Clinton?"
If you read my previous posts you will see that I have been critical of both racism and sexism throughout this campaign. I have not been quiet over the sexist attacks that Hillary has faced and it is inappropriate of you to accuse me of hypocrisy in this regard. I have never said that Hillary didn't face sexism. Where I do take issue is with Hillary supporters who are outraged by the sexism that Hillary faced, yet are finding creative ways to say that Michelle Obama deserves what she is getting. I have a big problem with people who are angry at sexism towards Hillary but are so blinded by their anger that they refuse to accept that Michelle Obama is a) an incredibly accomplished woman and b)faced and is continuing to face sexism of her own.
My original post was not about the undeniable sexism that Hillary faced. If you read the rest of my post, you would have noticed that I was trying to say that Obama supporters could use our anger at and our reactions to Fox News to better understand how Hillary supporters felt towards the end of this campaign. I happen to be an Obama supporter who wasn't as surprised by the sexism that was thrown at Hillary, because I expected there would be sexism thrown at her. We live in a sexist country. My surprise was really for Hillary supporters who seemed so stunned that sexism still exists and who then angrily refused to accept that black people and especially black women, may not agree that sexism is the most pervasive and dangerous "ism" in America today.
"I have and will continue to speak out against any unfair criticism against Michelle Obama just as I have against Barack Obama when the media or Clinton supporters unfairly attacked him."
Um. Good for you. We have no argument here.
"What Michelle said was she didn't know if she could support Hillary or not if she had become the nominee. "We'll just have to see."
"Ironic isn't iit that now that very term is being used against her."
I guess I didn't really have a problem with Michelle saying that she would have to "think about" supporting Hillary (not voting for her, but supporting her), because after everything that happened in this campaign, I would have needed some time to decide if I could support Hillary too and I'm not even married to Barack.
