like throwing raw meat into a cage of rabid dogs
[Read the article: Paul Krugman criticizes Obama supporters]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]There was no way this War Room post was going to do anything but inflame more useless ranting from both sides. Although I am wondering, where is the tandem post about Frank Rich's column excoriating Clinton on her campaign tactics? He basically accuses her of blowing up the Democratic party in a win at any costs attempt to secure the nomination.

And let the battle continue . . . .

MansoorKhan: Since you asked
[Read the article: Paul Krugman criticizes Obama supporters]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"I will vote for Mccain if Obama gets the nomination and I'll vote for HRC is she gets the nomination. It is certainly false that Obama appeals to people who are now supporting HRC. Anyone with any wisdom about how the world works knows that his feel good campaign will result in zero change in Washington. We'd be safer with McCain."

Irony
[Read the article: The Shuster fallout]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Slate continues by pointing out that Hillary's answer to a University of Virginia student's question today of "who is the most influential person in your political career?" was Nelson Mandela because of his capacity for forgiveness. Hillary quoted Mandela, saying, "you have to give up whatever hate you have. You must learn to forgive."

Instead of debates #19 and #20 and more speeches like this one
[Read the article: Clinton: "My opponent gives speeches, I offer solutions"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]why not have town separate hall meetings where Obama and Hillary are asked questions by intelligent and well informed (sorry, cythera45) voters who are leaning towards the other candidate? I am an Obama supporter, but I would be interested to hear what he has to say to address some of the concerns of voters who have done their homework and are still in the Hillary camp. I would also like to hear Hillary answer questions about her voting record, her support of the war, her position on gay marriage, and I'd like to hear her address some of the concerns about her campaign tactics.
I know it will never happen (neither side would go for it) but I think it would help to make people feel more comfortable voting for the other candidate in the general election

A second vote for more substantive postings
[Read the article: A note about War Room's reader comments]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I know I'm late to the party (go to work, come home, walk the dog, make dinner, then read Salon), but I wanted to register my support for what Alex is trying to do here. I had all but given up on reading the War Room letters section and was prepared to only contribute to the Sunday night discussion of The Wire. So thank you, Alex.
Although, I do want to second the point that Captainlarab made that more substantive, thoughtful and analytical postings tend to generate more thoughtful responses. A post with the with headline:" Clinton: "My opponent gives speeches, I offer solutions" followed by a transcript of Clinton's speech without any War Room commentary or a posting titled: "Can Hillary Clinton come back?" which was your (albeit charming) mug in a video basically just asking if Clinton could come back, are invitations for drama.
From what I can tell from the readers' letters, no one who is posting knows any more about the ins and outs of either candidates' campaigns than anyone else. We should be encouraged through your posts to provide our thoughts and opinions about substantive and relevant issues, not be invited to simply vent our dislikes of a candidate in general.
