Dean is elected
[Read the article: The chairman can't win for winning]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If I'm not mistaken, Dean is elected county by county by the local party officials, not appointed by the party, so any talk of a "putsch" is inaccurate. As I recall, it was something of a mild upset that Dean won the position is the first place.

Bush is an idiot
[Read the article: The GOP in 2008: As Allen convalesces, Gingrich unloads]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]That, I think, is the essence of Newt's remarks. Further, his contention that the GOP would have picked up seats, if only Rummy had been put out to pasture sooner, is nonsense. Please, GOP, nominate Newt for president. The Democrats could run a ham sandwich and win in a walk.

Parents
[Read the article: The video game bullies]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]All this effort to "protect the children" would be far better spent figuring out how and what to teach parents, so their kids can grow up and become productive taxpayers. First thing to teach, the parent is in charge, not the kid. Second thing to teach, there is an on off switch on all these games.
Any parent who pays attention while their kids play video games, knows that at a certain point, NO MATTER WHAT THE GAME, the child becomes aggresive and unreasonable. In my house, we would at that point turn off the game. No negotiating "just let me get out of this level" or any other scenario. Off switch, off. End of discussion.

Time marches on
[Read the article: The conventional wisdom that would not die]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]And will leave Brooks et al in the dust. We have our own sources, now, and the blogosphere will grow exponentially over the next generation. Conventional wisdom can kiss my ass.

No way...
[Read the article: Giuliani prepares to throw his hat into the ring]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...he makes it out of the primaries, if he even gets that far...
-
McCain
[Read the article: For 2008, a hypothetical Democratic victory]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I doubt he can get through the primaries...
-
Fuck Bob Knight
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The guy is an asshole. You know it, I know it, Texas Tech knows it, even he knows it. He should be banned by the NCAA, if Texas Tech refuses to take action. It's not okay to punch a kid in the jaw just because he doesn't want to look at your butt ugly face. He's not even all that good of a coach, he won the title in 1976 (30 YEARS AGO!) and hasn't done anything since then.

Lighten up
[Read the article: Memo to O.J.: Kill yourself]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The whole OJ saga is an indictment of the celebrity besotted culture we find ourselves mired in, still after all these years, maybe even worse now (TOM CRUISE! ANGELINA JOLIE! MADONNA! GEORGE BUSH! PRINCESS DI!) than ever. And all of us, remnants, whores, single moms, deadbeat dads, geniuses, jurors, prosecutors, football fans, etc etc etc, can take a share of the blame, whether we like it or not. That is the reason it strikes such a nerve with, well, just about every American. I am sure there are much worse things to go ballistic over, than this inconsequential essay.

Gift Idea
[Read the article: Do I have the right to control how Christmas money is used?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I think LW should buy the kids some of those talking Jebus dolls...
-
In the Words of the Immortal Hunter Thompson...
[Read the article: "We do not respect your son"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"The entire Bush family, from Texas, should be boiled in posion oil."

Computers suck
[Read the article: Did voting machines steal a Democratic victory?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I know, you know it, everyone knows it, it seems, but the republicans trying to foist this horrible technology off on the rest of us. Computers are great for video games and shopping lists, but they are simply too unreliable to trust with something as important as voting.
-
White House "press corps"
[Read the article: Tony Snow, laugh riot]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The reason they go along with this nonsense is that they are all chumps, and I include Helen Thomas. If they had any shred of professional ethics left, they would never again attend a "press conference" given by these cretins.
-
Supreme credibility
[Read the article: Supreme Court to take bong hits 4 Jesus]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Once again, the Supreme Court has demonstrated its lack of credibility and, well, common sense. Surely there must be a thousand other cases more deserving of a hearing than this ridiculous proceeding.
What began with Bush v. Gore has yet to run its course...

Old School
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I liked it just fine the way it was before the B "C" S got involved. Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, hell even the Cotton Bowl used to mean something. Now, USC is like "oh we'll play in the Rose Bowl I guess if we have to." What a sorry state of affairs. The Bowl Games are played for the students, the fans, and the players, none of whom are crying for playoffs or a unified title. It's only the TV media hacks (Kirk Herbstreit?!?! What qualifies that idiot to pontificate about anything?) and lame ass sportswriters (not you, King) that are lusting after a champion. Please, guys, bag the B "C" S, and give us back our Bowls.

Bush is gone
[Read the article: Pessimism from the ISG, pessimism from the public]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It's hard for me to see how he lasts another six months, let alone two years. Even if he stays in office, he will be impeached. I predict it's not long from the time when a cadre of republicans march down Pennsylvania Avenue to deliver the bad news...
-
Maurice Jones-Drew
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Screw Reggie Bush and Mario Williams, Maurice Jones-Drew is by far the best player drafted this year, at least if you go by what a player actually does when he's playing in an actual game, instead of the order of his draft pick or the size of his contract. He is a human bowling ball with deceptive speed, he either runs through you or by you, so he doesn't have to rely on all that ankle turning and knee pounding razzle dazzle BS that Bush requires. Plus, Bush is going to go to the well once too often, that flying through the air crap may fly in the PAC10 but sooner or later a Brian Urlacher or a Ray Lewis is going to paste him mid-air and it'll be lights out...

It's all over but the crying
[Read the article: Message: I listen]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This is like the greatest thing ever, watching the right wing melt down over Iraq. Bush gambled the republican party, and lost. It won’t be long before a cadre of republicans troops down Pennsylvania Avenue to deliver the bad news to President Cheney er I mean Bush: resign, or be impeached and removed.

double down
[Read the article: You've got to know when to walk away]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Double down requires that you have retained enough chips in your pocket to make the bet. Sadly, that is not the case here. What we have is a desperate, broke gambler that is trying to get the casino to accept his Timex watch as collateral. Not gonna happen.
