Week 2
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If what the Patriots did is not a big deal, why is it in the rulebook? Why fine the coach and the team a million dollars? Seems like a pretty big deal to me, even in the NFL a million dollars is a lot of money. I want them to say that they cheated, and I want the NFL to say it too. Until that happens, the integrity of the game is in question. Pretty appropriate behavior for a franchise whose entire run began with the tuck rule. If that fumble (and it was a fumble) had been allowed to stand, who knows where the Patsies would be today.
What Shanahan did should not be allowed. Nor what Hester did either.
It's hard to believe the Chargers could have gone out and found a worse coach than Marty, but they managed. I predict that team will not make the playoffs.
People who need to retire: Brett Favre. Donavan McNabb. Trent Green. Joe Gibbs. Norv Turner. Mike Holmgren. Tom Coughlin. The Arizona Cardinals. John Madden. Al Davis. ESPECIALLY Al Davis. (Bud Selig)...
And can I please get a break from commercials featuring Peyton Manning and Reggie Bush? Surely there are other players they could use for some of that crap they are selling. I guess they need to use Reggie now, though, since by week 8 the Aint's will be 0-8 and not much use to anyone.
Finally, a memo to the NFL: I LIVE IN LOS ANGELES. Stop cramming crappy east coast games down my throat. You dolts gave me Colts Titans instead of 49ers Rams? WTF?

Good lord
[Read the article: Petraeus vs. the Pentagon?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Muthanna province, even though the governor was assassinated, we're pretty certain by militia extremists, continues to stay fine."
That tells you just about everything you need to know.

@normanx
[Read the article: Invading Iraq, revisited and then revised]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"There should be no other job in front of you then stopping this war immediately, and impeaching the worst of all presidents from his 'job' thereby stopping his complete and utter destruction of all that he touches. Otherwise you are guilty of aiding and abetting the numerous war crimes that have and are occurring."
Nailed it again, I hope someone form the Democratic party is listening. Senator Reid? Senator Feinstein? Senator Boxer?

It was ever thus
[Read the article: Dianne Feinstein, symbol of the worthless Beltway Democrat]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Politics has always been about the incrementally lesser of two evils, and it always will be. The Romans had this same discussion in the town square, and before them, the Greeks, and before them, the Neanderthals. I personally despise Senator Feinstein, but considering the alternatives, I have always held my nose and pulled the lever.

@ Jake

We'll just have to
[Read the article: Various items]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]redouble our efforts to get liberals elected. The thing we all have to remember is it's not so much the person that gets elected, but the people that they appoint and hire, that affect our lives. And on that count Democrats beat out Republicans by a lot.
-
Guiliani
[Read the article: Fred Thompson: Refreshingly honest or just uninformed?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]is going to be the nominee. Let's hope enough people see through him so we don't end up with him.

Damn kids
[Read the article: How the Navy plans to recruit "coddled" kids]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Why, when I was a kid we all loved the military and respected our elders and worked hard on our paper routes and walked to school and that was uphill both ways and blah blah blah blah blah. Wisdom does not come with age, it's only the illusion of wisdom clouded by the rose colored glasses of nostalgia. Old men start wars and young men fight them. It was ever thus, and it will ever be.

Patsies
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Barring injury, I believe that the Patsies will be undefeated this year. Not that they are that great, but all the other teams suck a lot worse. Sooner or later they will score less than 30 I suppose, but for this weekend, they cover easily, NE 45, Cleveland 10. Get on the bandwagon or get run over.
In other news, I find that I actually miss Marty Schottenheimer, at least when I see Norv Turner calling the shots. Is it possible that the public could take over the Chargers using eminent domain, for the greater good of the public?

Rita Katz
[Read the article: Loose links sink ships]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]knew damn well what was going to happen, she is not that stupid.

I would posit
[Read the article: Are bond traders betting against the surge?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]a third possibility, in the words of Mark Twain, there are three types of lies: Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics. It seems to me the statistics that purport to show that the situation in Iraq is somehow improving are not accurate, and in fact there has been an INCREASE in both civilian and military casualties since last fall, and a DECREASE in commodities output and everyday social activity...Whatever their politics, traders are forced every day to consider reality, not fantasy, or they are quickly out of business.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Propositioning someone of the same sex in a bathroom shouldn't be any more of a crime than propositioning someone of either sex, in a bar."
Sure it should, and, thank god, it is. That's why the Senator got himself arrested.
