  • Blood

[Read the article: All roads lead to Rove -- again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

This whole issue is really just a way for republicans to try and change the subject, there is genocide going on in Iraq and they are responsible for it and they know it. The blood will not wash off of your hands so easily, Mr. and Mrs. Republican. I for one am sick and tired of trying to be polite about it. If you voted for Bush, you are bloodthirsty war criminals. All the crying about being persecuted over the elections you stole, doesn't change that horrible fact.

  • The U.S. military

[Read the article: A backdoor Iraq Study Group win? I don't think so]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

is getting their ass kicked by a shadow army of pissed off Iraqis. It would be ironic if so many people hadn't been killed or maimed, instead it's a tragedy of historic proportions. Thanks, GWB, and also, thanks to all you guys who voted him in. Heckuva job you bloodthirsty warmongers.

  • Is there nothing

[Read the article: Wolfowitz the lover, not the fighter]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

so henious, so vile, so despicable, so immoral that these George Bush republicans won't do? I have yet to see it.

  • Liberal or conservative?

[Read the article: GOP candidates mum on immigration]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I'm a liberal, and I would LOVE to see a few corporations held accountable for hiring illegal aliens, but it has to be the CEO, not the front line managers. They are just trying to get a job done, like the rest of us. If the CEOs were held accountable, you can bet things would change in a hurry. It's the conservatives that are stopping that from happening.

  • Their main problem

[Read the article: Home Depot down, West Nile up]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

is management, I bought a house last year and have been to Home Depot a thousand times since then, there is hardly anyone there that knows anything about anything, you are really on your own in that place. Also, they have no good way of summoning help, you are left to wander unitl you find an employee that will actually acknowledge your existence, and then that actually knows something about the products. I hate that place, but on the other hand, there's no other places near me, so I am stuck...

  • No matter how hard they try

[Read the article: Nothing to see here]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

the blood splatters their dreams. This won't let them sleep any better. Hundreds of thousands of people have been klilled or maimed, and for what. Republican egos. May they all rot in hell for what they have done.

I swear to god, if we fail to impeach and jail these evil bastards, we deserve it too.

  • Disheartening

But, it's a start, at least. I guess. At least HRC and Obama voted yes, so that's something.

I would like to see Jim Webb explains his vote, I may be missing something here that he could shed light on.

  • The answer is

  • Horse stories

[Read the article: Why I love the Preakness]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I had a job a few years back and my boss also happened to be the chairman of the California Horse Racing Board. Hollywood Park was open at the time, and he used to take the staff over there for lunch, giving us all a "flying twenty" to use for bets. He bought us lunch as well. He was a great boss by the way.

To get to the clubhouse, you ride up in an elevator that is run by an operator, the doors have to be manually closed, and one time we rode up the elevator with Don Adams. It was one of the high points of my horse track career. Which tells you a lot about how much money I have won. In 25 years...

There was a guy who hit the pick six at Santa Anita for a million dollars a few years back, he was over 80, and when the press asked him how it felt he replied "Well it feels pretty good but the sons of bitches still owe me money..."

When I first started to go to the track, I had a friend (Fernando, where are you?) and we would always go over for the free races (generally the last two races on the card). We each would bring two dollars, and split a longshot exacta on each race. There was always a line of cheapskates like us waiting for the gate to open, and we would all make a mad dash to the top of the stretch, first one there could usually find a discarded program or sometimes even a form to study. After a few years, we got to know the security guys and they would start letting us in for the eighth and then the seventh and before we knew it we were digging up change so we could show up with four dollars each. We didn't hit often, but when we did, it was a real party because we never bet anything that paid less than about $200 (a lot of money, back then...).

Finally, if you ever find yourself in Las Vegas with an afternoon to kill and only 20 or 30 bucks left, sit in the race book and bet a longshot exacta or trifecta or even a super about every 20 minutes or so, that money will last you all afternoon, plus, free drinks, if it hits, great, if not, well, there's no other place in the casino where your cash burn rate is as slow (except maybe the penny slots I guess but jesus)...

By the way, I bet Curlin in the Derby and thought Street Sense would prove unbeatable yesterday (what the heck was Borel doing in the stretch!!!!) but put my money on Xchanger anyway. I'll take the best horse I can find at 10-1 or better in the Belmont...

  • The Democrats

    [Read the article: Playing chicken]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

should declare victory on this one. They should claim the September timeline as their own, send over the supplemental with no strings attached, and claim victory without nuance or apology. It is apparent that all you need to do to convince voters you are right, is say you are right longer and louder than the other guy.

And anyway this isn't a done deal yet. They may be just testing the waters...

  • I can explain it

[Read the article: The president's selective intelligence]

Bush is a crook and a traitor and a liar and a puppet. And I'm being nice.
