President Ron Paul radical libertarian anarchist isolationist xenophobe right wing nutcase would be a wonderfully entertaining thing for the nanny state liberals here. Other than promising to end the war and legalize most drugs, the look on your astonished faces when he turns the clock back to about 1870 would be priceless.
Here's a bunch of other things Rob Paul would like to shut down: the EPA, child labor laws, all immigration, the FCC, the FDA. I can hardly wait for a return of Sinclair Lewis' 'The Jungle'.
You can screw a progressive's wife right before his eyes. Just don't ever fail to take him as self seriously as he does.
That's the wonderful thing about being an empty headed Federal government candidate. You get to make high sounding abstract nonsense because even if you're successful, that fact that people don't really want to starve and freeze in the atomic zombie brain eating wasteland ensures that state and local government will try to pick up the pieces. Sure let's go away with the Federal government. That works. Our main water source is maintained by the Army Corp of Engineers and will now be ours and ours alone. Screw you bastards in neighboring states, go find your water somewhere else. And trust me, when we get too many illegal aliens we will pack them on Greyhounds and send them to you. Not our problem and the ebul Federal gubmint aint gonna do nutin bout dat. On on your way from the north east corridor to Florida feel free to pay our $300 out of state toll on I-95 as you drive through. We could really use your money. See, Confederacy can work.
Anything? No din't think so. Class is dis-missed. The point is, and I hope this doesn't zoom over your precious pointed heads, is that Dr. Cole seems to harp on the aspects of this that have something to do with critiquing the US obliquely and nothing at all to do with
a) the fact there are no stable western looking states among the Arab world in that part of the globe and that Pakistan is no different, corruption and power-wise from any of the other regional Arab and/or Muslim states.
and
b) the fact that we need to utterly gloss over the reality that much of the world is corrupt - even, and some would say, especially those tyrannies that our fat comfy radicals on the left right here would champion, even though, their absolute levels of 'democracy' are a joke and the folks here lambasting one tyranny versus another based solely on how much those governments publicly hate the US would be the last ones to personally submit to.
I noted that one comment here - about 'what does stoning women etc etc etc...' EXACTLY. What does it? Well for one thing, if Pakistan were as virulently anti American, as say Iran, you would have little notice and less worry for the woman-stoning they indeed commit. It's simply a matter of how much they align with your distaste of this country.
I like Dr. Cole and think he is a good writer and fairly brave. But we have to all admit that these are all proxies for your dislike of this country and not that other country way over yonder.
Now feel free to respond with a breathtaking tirade of scatalogical insults. thank you.
That's not really the point. You're not so evolved that you don't have a boatload of your own mythology dragging around behind you and trust me it sounds pretty retarded too.
Too concrete? Not enough blogalicious attitude?
Yes you've said that before. Sorry kids you've had enough. Anyway your savior of the south managed to overturn a (Venezuelan) supreme court mandated referendum that would decide whether a new election would be held to replace the somewhat dubious one that kept Chavez in power in 2004. Do you know, poco, how he did that. Well wonder of wonders the warehouse where the cast referendum ballots were held was magically burned to the ground the day before the ballots were to be counted. And why was the original election dubious? Oh for the usual South American reasons; ballot theft, murder, intimidation of voters, corruption fraud, vote selling. The usual. A common practice among some of the SA countries is for people to outright sell their votes to party padrons in exchange for things like money, gasoline, abortions in one case. Frankly you hard headed liberals surprise me. Do you think that just because one holds an election it's legitimate? Aren't you the people who claim that both of the las Presidential elections were stolen? Aren't you a tad amazed that elections in Communist, Marxist and tyrannical countries like Syria, Cuba, Iraq always seem to have 100% turnout and 99.4% of the votes go for the guy who's been in office for the last 20 years? Aren't you in the least surprised that Chavez, being apparently, legitimately elected as you say, just declared himself president for life or until 2020 whichever comes first and that he recently dissolved Parliament and now rules by decree? Does that sound like a freely elected democracy to you? Well maybe it does. As we used to say in the Dark Continent - one man, one vote, one time.
One would think all the Czechs and Hungarians fleeing the Communist bloc in 56 and 68 should have been sending us plane tickets instead.
BTW Nov 9 is the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Will Salon go to black the whole day in protest?
So if you're a binge drinker or worse, it won't really matter your FB picture of you in the gutter with your panties round your ankles. But if you think that's a good way to get back at mommy and daddy, have at it dearie.
