Liberal Hulk Good

So we're agreed, no bad thoughts ideas expressions theories let alone the exercise of those words and thoughts has ever issued from the Unicorn's ass of any liberal ever.

You folks remind me of the people I found on research project to Austria 25 years ago when we went looking for civilian Austrians who had knowledge of their neighbors collaborating with the SS. Do you know what they all told us?

"No one here was a Nazi, we never worked with them. The people you want are in that village over there."

Similarly half the East German population at one time or another worked for the Staasi spying on the other half of the population. But of course no one, even to this day admits that it ever happened. Sure it might have been a broken down socialist bad dream but oddly, all the people in it view themselves as heroes.

You're all heroes. I'm sure of it. It's all those people you don't like who are evil.

what difference does it make

Are the heartstrings she did or did not pull materially different from the 'hope' and 'aspirations' chanted by Obama?

You're all in Oz you know.

Shades of 1952

The Dems have no incumbent, they kill each other in the primaries and mount yet another halfassed campaign this time with Stevenson and he looses to Ike.

So it's more of me and people like me

...bailing out the spendthrifts. How do I sign up to live like a pimp, go broke and have you help me?

Doesn't it get tedious telling the same joke week after week?

Umm guess not.

John Judis never hesistates to play the race card when he talks about the Palestinians

Just in case anyone was looking for consistency.

My poem of hate was deleted from Salon

So there's free speech and then there's free speech. What's the reason? Fear of retribution, disgust, double standards?

Sunday, January 13, 2008 06:22 PM

Gordon

Yes that's mine. Only copy in existence too, just scribbled it off ad hoc.

You see everybody's in favor of unlimited free speech....at a distance. It's very amusing to me that Salon.com of all places would never publish most of the words of Lenny Bruce.

I email death threats to Iranian embassies around the world

Does that count?

Sunday, January 13, 2008 07:20 PM

Hezbollah?

Please, Hezbollah operates on more than a billion dollars a year. It's also a political movement that controls a third of Lebanon and openly claims to have murdered several Lebanese politicians. It launched 10,000 rockets at Israel including one Chinese 801c Silkworm cruise missile that hit a Saar-5 corvette and took it out of operation, killing 4 seamen in the process. It is commanded by their own military regulars as well as a contingent of Syrian military and Iranian IRGC and VEVAK officers.

When these Hispanic militia patriot guys running around the Everglades playing shoot em up approach that then they are something to be considered.

This is why it's sometimes hard to take the Dept of State seriously, their hyperbolic rhetoric sounds like the very radicals they're talking about, themselves.

Guess what, America, there's a lot of angry people out there with guns. Some of them are white supremacists, some are even Mormon terrorists, some of Cubans, some are Christian identity people who claim to not recognize the IRS or the government at all.

They're all for the most part harmless. And if they weren't many of you would be on their side if the Federal government moved against them, a la Waco.

Plastic is the only thing that 1 pt San Pellegrino comes in

The 1l glass is too big and heavy. So I will continue to get 1 pt San Pellegrino.

Sunday, January 13, 2008 07:29 PM

you're right

there's nothing to say unless it's to furiously congratulate and agree with one another. Any opinion that does not mesh with my own is of course a noisesome trollish fat white male who probably beats his illegal Mexican houseboy with a golfclub.

Kitt

Ah quite a few of the more harsh ones. They dump the whole post typically.

BTW folks libel laws in the UK are 180 degrees backwards from those in the US. In the UK the accused has to prove they DID NOT commit libel. In the US the aggrieved party has to prove

1) the accused did it

2) the person was actually harmed

3) the statement isn't true.

Also in Canada

Is it hate speech if it isn't in both English or French, or is that some other crime?

Just at the time my mayor is demanding that people use no water at all

Down here in Redneckistan, we're at 111 days of water supply for the city. The mayor is demanding that people use no water unless absolutely critical, actually promoting the consumption of other packaged water supplies be they bottles or those 20 gal jugs.

If you can't get SF to get on the bandwagon of gun control

Then the issue never need be discussed in public ever again.

Sooooo better dead than right wing

Ok then. You DO understand this is essentially the problem in a nutshell?

Tristan Fabriani

Yes; or refrigerators or antibiotics too. I mean isn't a little cholera worth the price of smugness?

As opposed to 90% of the hundreds of comments to Glenn Greenwald,

which are basically verbal masturbation, or cheering on someone else's verbal masturbation.

Monday, January 14, 2008 06:48 AM

This reminds me of the movie 'Barbershop'

And the controversy over a black actor playing a character who disparaged Rosa Parks. Some things in the US are beyond any rational discussion whatsoever and are effectively, sacrosanct. There is no permissible deviation from the official gospel.

Dr. King was not the entirety of the civil rights movement. He was not the sole individual who broke the chains of Jim Crow. But the mass media isn't allowed to say that any more than they aren't permitted to sound less retarded by uttering what the 'n-word' actually is.

Monday, January 14, 2008 06:51 AM

christmartin17, re Hamas and Hezbollah

Actually many people do. Often the European press will call them 'militants'. The Guardian often uses 'activists'.

My tapwater is heavily chlorinated

I'm sure many of you zealots could paste a 'study' somewhere screaming about the evils of chlorination and how it creates allergies or autism or membership in the GOP or something.
