I hate to point out the obvious but Indian car companies are reaching out to the US or north American market as more of an experiment so that they can learn what not to do for their home market which is more profitable in the long run for them. If they can make cheap cars that Indians will instead of motorbikes then they'll be further along than were they to sink billions into a north American distribution and support network. But here's where they'll make their mistakes first. And to be told the north American market isn't for everyone. When was the last time you saw a French or Italian car?

Haven't flown in two years. I am working furiously to avoid having to travel for work soon, as the distance is too far to not fly. I am willing to limit my own career if that's what it takes. Call it a handicap - call it whatever you want. I won't fly. Not afraid to fly I just won't give the bastards the satisfaction. My wife flies but that's her deal. And since the dollar is in the toilet it's not like anyone can afford to take a vacation out of the country any more.

I see all the people who work in the air travel system as being part of the problem. And it's simply a matter of scale, not intent, to say "I was just following orders." Sure you're not packing children on railcars to Sobibor and you're not baking bread as the pall of smoke of human ashes falls over the town, but it's more or less the same "What could we do - we didn't know anything" mindset. It's just a matter of degree.

Prices were increased across the board today. Airlines will once again whine that they're going broke. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of people fast enough. In fact I see a day soon when the major resort companies manage their own air travel end to end for consumers. Fly Air Disney - for example, they book you, check you in, do their own security and treat you like a human being on your way to one of their destinations. Same with the big Vegas resorts and such. Everyone else? Well either you can get tased or you can walk. And business travelers - it's always sucked to be them unless you're an executive and you can break your own rules about flying business class or first class.

I truly hope air travel shrinks by 70% and becomes the domain of the wealthy and famous once again like it was decades ago. Let the hoi polloi fly or fly themselves like the 'libertarians' on the radio who treat us to tales of flying their own planes (Boortz). Let the TSA eat itself to irrelevance.
