If you want to blame someone blame the editors of Salon

They're not clinically stupid, I think. They greenlight every column. I figure there's a trifold pamphlet - a menu of officially sanctioned views, opinions, objectives and goals to this blog (and make no mistake, Salon is a glorified blog not a news magazine) with the idea that the officially approved words will generate the appropriate flavor as well as the required hit count. It's not fluid dynamics - it's editorializing like any other venue. You're not going to flip open a copy of Cosmo and read an article about the downside to giving head before the first date, are you?

This is backhanded self promotion

Only the Salon bloggers are qualified not only to have an opinion but to tease out the accurate reality of them as well. Was that your point Mr. Scherer? Or did you have another pearl to cast?

Original article: More on Miss Landmine 2008

I think white middle class women in the west think too much

I think you're intentionally trying to over analyze this. Would that it was Miss Malibu Mastectomy 2008 you'd be falling over yourselves cheering.

If you dig a little deeper though

Lifestyle financing has a double edge. Like paying for your kids expensive private school and summer enrichment programs too. So while dad gets a 46" flat screen and mom gets a Lincoln, the kids get Ye Olde Cambric Preparatory Accelerated Academy. Which for them's not a deal, is it? You could go all ghetto fabulous and buy an Escalade with satellite TV, a shark tank and 30" rims, or you could invest in your own future and the future of your children.

In the end, putting new purple aluminum siding on the double wide is just trailer trash being trailer trash. The amount of money they have doesn't change that.

Well what is your concern.

Would you put a Picasso in your local U-Store? Just because someone might have access to it doesn't mean you should feel compelled to be paranoid about your own decisions on what to put there.

Guess what? I don't do internet banking.

Guess what? You'd have to be some kind of retard to post pictures of you raping a kid, up on Google Picassa.

Guess what? I don't leave my open wallet out on the dashboard of the car.

Redneck Riviera

Myrtle Beach is where the rednecks go for golf and resort-ing. The houses are all rental properties.

And none of this changes the central point

MB is hurting BECAUSE it's a regional mecca for middle class resort-dom. Unlike the upstate outer banks with a stable summer income, MB is more of a honky tonk kind of place where middle class rednecks really do go for golf weekends. And when the season's over it's a tomb. With all of that marginal rental property it's no wonder there are big problems.

Original article: A new kind of sex tourism

Kenya overall has a rather low HIV incidence in comparison, regionally.

A little more than 6%. Of course that's astronomical compared to the US but pretty good by African Standards. Hell the South African Army is 60% HIV+.

I am a dumb whiny Gen X blogger tool

And when I get something for free it sure as shit better be so secure that when I tell all my homies about my basement pot farm operation that intel is private, yo.

The security of something is ONLY worth as much to you as the downside risk versus the cost of protecting it. Do you people understand that now? Because I don't think you do.

After all this is the gaggle of retards who are shocked, shocked I tell you, that potential employers are not thrilled looking at your facebook page with you with your thong wrapped around one ankle while you're passed out drunk in the street. SO PLEASE don't lecture us about your security needs and your paranoia about George Bush stealing your super secret documents. That you stored. For free. On a website. With minimal security. That you probably gave away the password to your friends for already.

My motherboard has a power on password. My hard drive is encrypted. Is yours? Do you even know how to do that? Do you know how to encrypt a document you send upstream? The last thing you bought online was it with a stored profile that contained personal information? Now sit in the corner dumbass.
