Arkansas replacement

Far be it for me to adhere to any conspiracy theory -- but isn't it interesting that Karl Rove - Bush's Brain and political guru - wants to place 'his guy' into Arkansas as the AG? -- considering that this guy is supposed to be a research blood hound, isn't that real convenient? If Sen Clinton is the democratic candidate for 2008, do we get to swing through the mud pen again with Whitewater and whatever other idea the Rove comes up with to spend tax money in a useless search for dirt?

Original article: John Yoo -- then and now

John Yoo - Yahoo

John Yoo, the back office instigator of so much that is wrong with this administration, I'd like to know his age and where he came upon all this wisdom -- or is it just 'theory' to him? Forget Karl Rove - look at this guy under a microscope -- he is as dangerous as they come. His 'theories' on torture, executive power, etc., line up quite nicely with Cheney, but he has the ability to pervert the law to suit his theories. I'd like to see a bigger spot light put on this guy -- I've seen him on news shows and the only thing that comes clear is his ability to talk his way out of a corner. He is the classic caricature of a slick and sleazy lawyer -- except that his theories and actions have actually cost American lives and treasure.

Joe Klein & Beltway seriousness

I find Joe Klein to be an interesting subject to watch. He shows up on various news programs in the past few years as this big HooRah Clintonista who knows all there is to know about the Clintons. However, if you actually read what he wrote about them, he does have his unique perspective which has been allowed to fade into the background. He thinks they may be very smart -- but are users, that they make brilliant political strategical decisions but think only of themselves. Well, there's a thought. He reminds me of the guy who has this treasure trove of information & mis-information, good or ill or made up, and only makes his snarky comments when given the opportunity to make someone else appear wrong-thinking. So, whatever he says -- he is right up there with Baghdad Bush for believability.

Dislike the Democratic congress

which part of 'split congress' doesn't anyone get? The Dem Congress has only been installed 7 months -- against 6 YEARS of Republican rubber-stamping. The split is 50 - 49 - with pesudo DeM Leiberman in the middle. In a democracy the VOTES count -- all the votes. As long as the republicans continue to lock step behind Bush -- and there has to be 60 votes to carry anything -- it isn't rocket science to figure out that it is going to take some time.

Noone seemed to blame the Republicans for sitting on their hands or in the bank while they did nothing - they got us in Iraq for good, and you can blame the Dems for not getting us out -- but it still takes the majority vote.

Craig's GOP pillory

I am SHOCKED, yes, SHOCKED, that heterosexual escapades are greeted with applause and possible homosexual escapades are met with a GOP firing squad. Could it be that Vitter would surely be replaced by a Dem whereas Craig's solidly GOP state would appoint another Republican?

I always find it so amusing that the GOP will let New Orleans drown [again] while spending billions more on a losing Iraq War. Their piousness makes me think that when each finally faces judgement day they will stand there with their sanctimonious platitudes and find that doing onto others as you would do onto yourself actually has teeth. I guess it is the old song about all the faceless people, instead of the ones in your face.

Frankly, I don't care who does what in their bedroom with whom. I care rather more about indifference to what CAN be done by Congress, then all their red herrings about sex. Get over it, boys.

Native Son

I find it interesting that Thomas sees Anita Hill as someone who had flights of fancy. He hit every single cliche a chauvanist could list. Most interesting is that, had he been caucasian the same remarks would have stood the same nastiness. That he is on the Supreme Court only goes to prove how guilty white Americans can feel. If we were honest we would quit looking at the color of a person's skin and look at their record and attitudes toward minorities. Thomas seems to have seen himself as a majority within his minority -- in other words, way better than the rest. Justice Warren he is not.

Brave Talk and Democrats

Which part of a 1 person majority aren't you getting?? And that is if you count Joe Leiberman [imagine him as VP now!]. Unfortunately, 60 votes are required to override this president's handy veto pen. The bills coming forward are also clever enough to include in funds for GI needs in among them - having played the 'Dems favor terrorists' 'Dems are soft on terror' 'Dems are unpatriotic cutting funding for our brave soldiers' -- I mean get real!

THe GOP rubber-stamped everything Bush and Cheney did, even the things they have done in secret, to the point of prosecuting and putting in prison governor's for voter fraud. Do you think this new AG in Arkansas isn't hunting up dirt on Sen Clinton to use should she win the nomination? Once Rove's boy, always Rove's creature.

So while you are all enjoying beating up the Democratic Congress -- rethink that majority part and use your heads - a one vote majority is less then slim - it requires some real work to get the weak-kneed Republicans to find their courage. THAT is where you need to focus. Where are the GOP guts? In Cheney's back pocket!
