Shetty really did act like a pompous princess at times and needed to be called out on it.
Fair enough. If Goody had called her a pompous princess and attacked her character as such, that would be fine.
But how is attacking Shetty in racist ways justified by Shetty being a diva?
Ms. Anthropia: if a black person was acting like an insensitive jerk, how would YOU refer to them?
A.] An insensitive jerk.
B.] A ni**er.
What if a Jewish woman was acting like a drama queen - which one of these would you call her?
A.] A drama queen.
B.] A k*ke.
I'm guessing you would say choice "B" is perfectly acceptable in both situations - even though the race of the person has nothing inherently to do with what an assh*le they are.
Don't worry, though. This concept is lost on most bigoted honky WASPs...oops. =)

As for Goody?
I will shed no tears for the death of a racist.
And the fact that her cervical cancer developed soon after her despicable bigotry toward Shetty?
Ha! Icing on the karmic cake.
May Jade be reborn as a deeply dark-skinned, dirt poor Bangladeshi...
I am not celebrating anyone's death. And I have my own family experiences with the horrors of cancer.
That does not change the fact that I refuse to feel sympathy for a dying racist.
When Strom Thurmond died, I couldn't shake the notion that the world became just a little bit easier for a minority to live in.
Are there positive aspects to Goody's character? I'm sure they are.
But forgive me if I don't pay heed to criticisms of being "deplorable" toward a bigot, coming from white people who have no remote idea or context of the fear, isolation and deep-seated humiliation that minorities endure when confronted with racist bullies like Goody.
As for the two sons she leaves behind?
Maybe - just maybe - the silver lining is that these young white Brits may be raised in the presence of open-minded, tolerant mother figures...instead of simply learning the bigoted scorn of Goody.

Compassion is for those who are deserving.
I shed no tears for pedophiles. Or rapists. Or murderers.
Or racists.
I'm sick of people scrambling to the top of the "TDK was unbearable horrible incompetent dreck... if only anyone but enlightened ME could understand that" dogpile.
Amen, brother. The fact that many people loathe TDK is no big deal to me. It's a popcorn summer blockbuster - and a flawed but decent one at that.
But what DOES alternately annoy and amuse me is that so many of them clamber upon each other to gain the credibility of saying, "I disliked it the most! More than any of you in the masses! That makes ME countercultural!"
LMAO...you are not a unique cinephile flower.

In the end, TDK assumes the same pop cultural space as Internet porno.
EVERYONE, when asked, despises it - and yet somehow it makes bajillions of dollars from viewership.
Hmmmm....=)

Oh, and by the way, Kltyus - since no doubt you will knee-jerk reflexively bash me with some, ummm, 'funny' poetic verse...
Try a rhyming scheme involving "wolf" and "fanboy"! I believe in you. ;-P
Ummm...what logic exactly are you using to equate Joe the Plumber with this kid Ty'?
Joe turned out to be an unlicensed plumber who wasn't even named Joe - a guy demanding tax cuts on the quarter mil a year he "earned" illegally stealing work from licensed, contracted blue collar plumbers.
Ty' is a resolute young woman who had the brass ovaries to not just wallow in the misery of her poverty-plagued school, but tell politicians exactly what they were costing themselves and the country in depriving Americans like her of a quality education.
And only a Republican would actually equate these two people...
I consider this the first smear job on Ty'.
And I think you need to fall down a couple more hills before you can open your eyes to the amoral sleaze approach of Karl Rove's playbook.
Just sayin'...
But really, now - how exactly is hot sauce in a used condom in the trash EVER going to hurt the LW?
Or any woman, for that matter - provided they were not planning to try to use it?
I'd worry more for your pet if you have a dog or cat that likes to tip over / rummage thru trash (gross implications ahead, I know...)

All joking aside, this story does bring up one of the age-old questions: does she love me for ME - or does she see me as a giver of babies and/or $$$$$?
Yes, I confess: even in our enlightened, post-feminist world, I never reveal how much my salary (or savings) is to women I date. I don't earn a whole lot, fwiw - but if the question comes up, I subtract at least $5K-$10K off the actual number.
Who recommended I do this? Probably a misogynistic dad or male figure, you say?
Nope. My mom advised me that this was best.
Love me for me...not for money, not for kids.
