Buffalonian - Black women should be worried less about Condi's hair and more about her politics.
She is and always has been a puppet of Dubya. He rides her like one of his horses on the Crawford Ranch. They are a match made in heaven....2 of the most disingenuous, insincere people I have ever witnessed....and this is our leadership.
Their legacy of lies, mistrust, misinformation, greed, and the most jacked-up foreign policy ever devised will haunt us all for decades to come.
I am a black woman and I have never felt any connection to Condi and most of the black people that I know (Dems & Reps) feel the same way.
I cannot wait to read this book, because she is one of the most inscrutable people I have ever come across. I consider myself to be a very perceptive person, but this woman holds her cards so close to her vest, that the images are branded in her skin. Who is she? I know some details about her background, but who the hell is she?
At this point, every time she opens her mouth, I figure lies are coming out. One thing for sure, the author got it right about her being the spin-master. I've never seen anyone manage to backpeddle, go forward and to the side at the same damn time.
Ironically, I think Condi serves as a great example. Even in this day and age, the black community is viewed by political pundits as some monolithic entity that thinks the same, has the same political viewpoints, and agrees on the same issues. Condi Rice is a shining example of how diverse and divergent the views of blacks are in this country.
Nevertheless, she and Dubya need to go so this country can get its act back together and move forward.
I cannot believe someone actually pulled out the old "IF Martin Luther King were Alive card!!!" Lawdy, Lawdy.
Talk about playing the race card! White people will throw out the "MLK card" faster than a fly lands on shi#. And I guess that is suppose to smack the black folks back into line.
Give me a damn break.
The same person who played this card in his comments also stated that the new black leadership was "Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson." Which I find ironic because I have my black voting card and I never elected either one of them into a leadership position.
Again, it's white folks who put the crown on Sharpton and Jackson. It's amazing that "you people" still think that the these men speak for all black America, because god knows we black people couldn't possibly have divergent views or thoughts...no, we're just one big monolithic entity that acts and thinks as one....like lemmings over the cliff.
White people ask a black person you know under the age of 65 who they consider to be a black leader and let me know what they say.....i'll bet my last dollar it ain't Sharpton or Jesse.
As for Bonds....I don't like cheaters. I am a black female athlete (from back in the day) and I don't care what color the person is....cheating is cheating.
If there is definitive proof that Bonds cheated by taking steroids then he SHOULD NOT into the hall of Fame and there should be an asterik next to his record.
Hank Aaron achieved his greatness the hard way....by working his ass off. And he should only be surpassed by an athlete that has worked as hard, if not harder....good ol sweat, practice, and determination....NOT chemical enhancement.
I think any fan of sports would agree...especially the black ones.
I am also a fan of this show. I started watching late...around the 2nd season when I found out that my college classmate Victor Williams was on the show.
I was hooked. Doug and Carrie are full of flaws and freakin' hilarious. I think a better description for Carrie is "wanna-be sophisticate" but she can't escape that Queens accent or attitude.
I think Leah Remini's character is a rare one where a female character is fully developed. She's not just Doug's wife, she's debating motherhood, she's a career-woman, she doesn't have many friends and the ones she has even gets on her nerves...Carrie is ballsy, vulnerable, funny, honest, shady, corrupt, mean, nice, selfish, giving all at the same time. There is no other female character on television that gets to show and actually voice that type of range. And she did it so well.
As for Arthur....what can I say...he's the cherry on top. Just genius.
What a great cast and a truly funny, funny show. It's a shame these guys never got the accolades they deserved.
