If the Bush Administration is so concerned about prosecuting voter fraud, how soon will the US Attorney for Ohio indict Diebold?
John McCain is like George "W" in several ways. He was born to privilege, got into school because of family connections, finished 5 from the bottom in his graduating class, and was indulged in his Navy duty assignment choices because of family ties. In short, he was a pampered screw-up from the beginning.
Why did his Navy buddies call him "Ace McCain?" Answer: because he downed more aircraft than any other member of his squadron. The only problem was that they were all American planes – to the tune of THREE (one in the "bounce pattern" at Corpus Christi, one out of fuel returning on a cross-country from an Army/Navy game, and a third to "flat-hating," irresponsible low-altitude maneuvers that took out power lines and the plane he was flying). Still, the Navy did not pull his wings. If they had, as they would have with any ordinary mortal, he would have been spared the trouble of being a POW.
To his credit, he did what was expected, according to the rules of POW's, and declined early release in Viet Nam. There would have been hell to pay if he had done otherwise. But, on arrival in the U.S., he dumped the wife who had waited faithfully for him, and married a younger rich woman. Then, he got embroiled in the Keating scandal.
Presidential timber? I think not.
Here in Texas, the term "maverick" refers to a seriously lost steer.
Here in Texas, the term "maverick" refers to a seriously lost steer. McCain may fit the definition of "maverick" after all.
