Just one. Great piece, Ms. Walsh! I really enjoyed reading this although I disagree with you on the benefits of the tax cuts Obama is proposing. I believe that they will be far more temporary and unhelpful than people are estimating. I think the most important predictor of this is found when we examine the most recent results of such tax cuts, which have been less than stimulating in any sort of stable fashion. While they may stimulate the economy slightly and immediately, what America really needs is a long-term stable stimulus - a revamping of the system, not a quick-fix.
I wrote a counter-piece about the same issue on my blog and linked to you. I hope you all take a read.

Very interesting article, Rebecca. I think you could say Kennedy was "opting in" if she had played some role in politics at some point in her life, although this is not the case. So maybe we can just call it "getting her feet wet for the first time". I wonder, does her experience/political background or lack thereof really matter in the end? I am a big fan of learning from history, but I feel as though we have had far too many terrible "experienced" politicians recently. Perhaps experience is not always a positive.
There are a couple Caroline Kennedy pieces from a slightly different perspective on my blog that might interest you.

I really appreciate your writing on this topic, Mr. Greenwald. I especially liked your piece the New Republic and the poor coverage and lack of discussion of both sides of the Israel/Gaza conflict in America.
I think you are correct on a lot of issues here. There needs to be more open and critical discussion from both sides and we, as a country, cannot unanimously support ANY country, let alone a country that engages in such controversial actions with our money and weapons. The Israel-America relationship and America's unquestioning endorsement really needs to be reconsidered in this new presidency if anything is to change in the Middle East.
I linked to your article on my blog and we have quite some interesting discussion going. Check it out if you have a chance:
