Out of sight, Out of mind!

The Bush Administration crimes will continue to go on unreported in the news, unmentioned in the DNC speeches and unprocecuted in a court of law for the legth of the campaign. Why? To do so would mean that Obama will have to marry his campaign to the idea that he will do something about these crimes during his first term in office. The reason he won't mention the Bush crimes is the same reason why he is editing everyone's speeches, to eliminate any dissent that attempts to embrace constitutional enforcement of the law. It is the same reason why Pelosi won't investigate for impeachment even with many many many clear violations of the law both foreign and domestic. To do so would be to admit that these crimes have been committed and then be expected by the American people, in all their masses, to force congress to fullfill their obligation to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. To do so would be political suicide as all of their corporate donors begin to pull their campain financing during an election year, lavish parties, paid international trips, sports tickets, and house repairs to Senators in Alaska. So how does America combat these grave violations against the American people? Talk to your media editors, writters and congressmen because it's only when the difficult questions are asked, that the truth will come to light. There are brave individual writters such as Glenn Greenwald who are leading the way back to the America we once knew where the Media looked after the American people, civil rights and reported the good the bad and the ugly no matter what the consequences. We can restore integrity in journalism and government again but as Dennis Kucinich said, "Wake UP America"! As for the OBiden camp expect more of the same, Out of sight, Out of mind!

Expose who's reporting

Hi Glenn any chance you can mention what large tv/cable news networks are covering this incase they do not air the coverage so we can call or write to complain about their suppression of the news?

Losing the Republic

The reason there was such an uproar when the same kind of tactics were used in China is that the major TV/Cable news networks focused in on the issue (as they usualy do for the government) and gave us 24 hour coverage. Here in the US our network media refuses to cover this and other important stories thus keeping Americans in the dark. The Media consolidation act was the worst thing that ever happened to the networks/newspapers/radio because they all got bought out by the big conglomerants like GE and Viacom. There is about 6 large conglomerants that control the news today and their big money, big power interest do not concern the civil rights of Americans. Since they do not report when Bush or Congress sign into legislation laws that enable the Bush Administration to conduct these kind of Natzi tactics they have now put the government in a position to make the rules as they go along. The sad thing is that when they are done with all American Civil Liberties, they will come for what little ethical reporting is still happening on TV/Cable/Newspapers/Web/Radio and then there will be a long silence as EVEN the media will realize...it is too late. The Republic is lost.

The Unheard Cry for Help

If a tree falls in the woods and you weren't there to hear it, did it still make a sound? The same logic can be applied to our current state of affairs in America's right to assemble politicaly amoung other things. I have to disagree with you to a certain extent Glenn. Many of us HAVE called our congressman, written letters and made phone calls. There have been protests happening nation wide for years but the go unreported. Even if they are shown briefly it is given with little analysis and comentary or spun into the usual "move along, nothing to see hear" approach. Many cries have been yelled in the forest but most have not been heard. The fourth estate in one of the few weaponds Americans have to bring injustice to light. When the media has left us, congress ignores us and the President could care less about us (need I say Katrina)America has been bound and gagged. Sure the next aproach would be to take to the streets in masses but that is what these groups were attempting to do and they are obviously being spied on and surpressed by the government. This is the same tactic the Fidel Castro has used to thwart any uprising. You eliminate even the mere talk of a threat by throwing people in jail to discourage dissent. That way, without assembly, revolutions are stopped before they even have a chance to begin. What we need is pressure in the networks, someone with clout, access, influence and "a conscience" to stand up and report these injustices thus restoring the fourth estate. Americans can knock down as many trees as they want but if the networks don't report it, their cries for help will continue to go unheard.
