War Room?

Where's War Room? Tim? Anyone?

Tuesday, March 6, 2007 09:11 AM

Guilty!

A federal jury today found Lewis "Scooter" Libby guilty of obstruction of justice, making false statements and perjury in the investigation into how Valerie Plame Wilson's identity as a CIA operative was exposed. He was found not guilty on one count of making false statements.

A

Indiana?

Me me me!

healthy man who likes to read and talk and explore, wants to go to London and Florence and the Galapagos Islands with me, and wants to give his children the best start in life. And who, for some reason, wants a woman with a crazy hybrid Southern/Midwestern accent who's constantly goggling at the big world like an overstimulated toddler.

Hey there-- there are plenty of good guys out there looking for a girl just like you, me included! Don't waste another minute in a situation where you feel trapped, alienated and unhappy. Get out and take a breath. It feels good...I did it!

More Info Withheld by the DOJ

Thanks for the link busybody. TPM has a different angle on this as well. Not only did they delay the investigation before the elections, but the DOJ failed to turn over records of a phone call made from a Renzi rep to a Charlton Rep inquiring about the investigation. DOJ requires all prosceutors to report this contanct, but then doesn't turn over the info to investigators. Why?

Can he use the pocket veto?

The U.S. Constitution requires the President to sign or veto any legislation placed on his desk within ten days (not including Sundays). If he does not, then it becomes law by default. The one exception to this rule is if Congress adjourns before the ten days are up and the President does not sign the bill. In such a case, the bill does not become law; it is effectively, if not actually, vetoed. If the President does sign the bill, then it does become law. Ignoring legislation, or "putting a bill in one's pocket" until Congress adjourns is thus called a pocket veto. Since Congress cannot vote while in adjournment, a pocket veto cannot be overridden.

Will congress adjourn within 10 days?

i thought it was spot-on

and hilarious. I laughed, out loud, as did my late-night television watching companion. MMJ was great too!

Love it. Looooove it.

Barack is going to take charge of this party, and eventually take charge of this country, and he's not going to put up with this bullshit from hacks like Lieberman. This is something I've wanted to do for awhile -- get in Lieberman's face and ask him what the hell he thinks he is doing. I have a feeling Barack is going to be doing many things I've wanted to do for awhile.

Is this deal really going to be iron-clad?

Is this seriously something the next president cannot nullify? I really have a hard time believing that GWB & crew is going to get the last laugh here, even if we elect a candidate that wants to begin withdrawing troops...

Tuesday, June 10, 2008 10:39 AM

So I looked into it...

and the deal would, "run indefinitely but be subject to cancellation with two years notice from either side, lawmakers said." So apparently, it would take a full two years to opt-out of on either side.

A good summary with the above quote and several from Iraqi leaders is at:

How does this affect

the current Gitmo trials? Can those proceed, or will they have to be scrapped for civilian courts?

Thursday, June 12, 2008 10:28 AM

Quite a historical moment indeed

As we've been forced to standby and watch some of the most basic fundamentals of our democracy erode, today is a proud day for anyone who still believes in this country's ability to rise above the affliction of the last seven years, and gives me a renewed hope for the future.

And though I'm preaching to the choir here, anyone who things that it doesn't matter who is elected president this year, the slim majority that formed this ruling illustrates the importance of getting some progressive judges who respect the rule of law on the SCOTUS.

Original article: The company we keep

I think we need to accept

that while there are some policy differences between the two U.S. parties, BOTH of them have been bought and sold many times over by any number of large international corporations.

Friday, June 20, 2008 06:58 AM

so now does he...

purposely place some headscarves behind him in his next speech, or is that still too sensitive of a point for a big-time photo op?

Wednesday, June 25, 2008 08:51 PM

Clinton, Obama, Kennedy, Byrd and McCain were all missing.

best headline ever.

just amazing pandering here by Obama

Obama is saying he supports "getting to the bottom of what happened" and making sure there were "safeguards going into the future" for Americans. So this is going to dismiss the lawsuits, and we won't get to the bottom of anything. The safeguards are nominal at best, but he's saying the issue wasn't suing the hone companies, it was getting the program within the law.

This is pandering to the phone companies, and Obama sounds like he has fear in his voice.

Original article: Was Palin's e-mail hacked?

Come on...just enjoy this one

as nothing else than an example of why a state governor and a vice-presidential candidate should not be using an unsecured e-mail address. Ironic, because she was using this to avoid having any of her correspondence on the record. Come on, this is irony at its best.

Tuesday, September 23, 2008 04:01 PM

Ben Smith has corrected his story...

to say that only RNC, not McCain ads will run in Indiana.

Still good I suppose, as that means less RNC money in other states.
