this is ridiculous
[Read the article: "I'm f---ing Obama"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]i didn't want to pile on poor koppelman here, but i'm really seriously missing tim grieve right now. i agree with what others are saying. i've been reading this blog for years because of insight and analysis, not funny videos. what's next, a dog riding a skateboard?
i never thought War Room would be so similar to the American electorate: shallow and easily distracted by "entertaining" ephemera.
anyone else considering giving up on war room yet?

[Read the article: Quote of the day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]i, like many other long-time war room leaders, have cut you much slack these past few months. it's not your fault that you're not tim grieve. it's not your fault that you appear to be content running an extremely average blog. for one, your thoughts are completely average and you don't seem to have much analytical capability. you know this. you read the comments to your posts every day. you know you are losing readers on a daily basis. (having steve benen take over for a week certainly didn't help either because now War Room readers know what we've been missing lately).
as readers, we've often told you what we would like to see in War Room. more analysis of events instead of regurgitated press releases. steve's brief tenure focused on a wide range of issues - the president's latest activities, congressional happenings, and yes, a bit of Election '08 coverage. now you come back and this is what we get:
McCain Said This About Obama
Hillary Said That About Obama
Obama Responds With A Press Release (I will not analyze it, but the entire release is...just after the jump!)
etc.
You haven't listened to us. you just keep giving us more Election garbage. we are clearly not the typical american readership that is distracted by scandals and shiny objects. we are telling you what we want. you are pretending like you don't know what we want, but i think we are all frustrated because we (and you) know the truth: you are not thoughtful or talented enough to give us what we want. this is why you focus primarily on election tit-for-tat: any mildly intelligent person can understand it enough to form an opinion of it. you are incapable of examining more complex issues.
stop making excuses.
in the immortal words of chevy chase, "you're not good. you stink."
will someone at Salon please do something about this soon?

pointless hang-ups
[Read the article: Confessions of a salvia eater]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]it's funny that, even among arguably enlightened Salon readers, discrete drug use is such an incendiary topic. my quick 2 cents, for what it's worth: people who are anti-drug are clearly hung up on something, much as i was before i started casually smoking grass and taking mushrooms years ago. that's fine, i can understand it.
what i find curious is that defenders of drug use are lashing out at the squares and their "consumer-based leisure activities opiate of the masses blah blah", on a website primarily concerned with left-of-center politics. for me, one of the most liberating aspects of soft drugs (pot, psychedelics) is the realization that politics is the biggest hang-up of them all. it's absurd and stressful, anyone who uses marijuana recreationally every once in a while probably has come to the same conclusion. pot especially makes leftists seem shrill, humorless, and hung-up (i say this as a liberal).
never mind. i don't really know what i'm trying to say. (another effect of pot use, probably)
