Original article: Quotes of the afternoon

Stop bathing in the Kool-Aid and Stop worshipping politicians. ALL politicians!

You are identical in posture and tone to the Bushies upon his ascendency. I know its different because you guys are right and they were wrong......The democrats stood by for eight years and did nothing, because they knew you suckers would hand them this fucking mess, along with a blank check and your best wishes. Obama's presidency is like a self-esteem exercise.

Original article: "The Uninvited"

Not weird at all!

I think she looks like Parker Posey all the time, and thought it was just me. It must be that demented gleam in the eye.

Wednesday, February 4, 2009 07:14 AM

Bleached tail pipe? LOL

I doubt that kid even gets that reference. I hope not.

Wednesday, February 4, 2009 01:48 PM

Its all because of lies...

Grow up!

Friday, February 6, 2009 08:14 AM

I'm happily habituated, and somewhat fully functioning.

No one should kid themselves about how strong todays pot is, excluding schwag of course. With a steady supply and sufficient income, a person can expect to stay stoned for life. You will never have to suffer an intervention by the supposedly well intentioned. You will manage to keep a job, though probably not much of one. Its not noble, or even advisable, but you can eat, sleep and stay under the radar.

Monday, February 9, 2009 09:02 AM

I dont think your a snob or anything.

You just dont sound like a facebook person. You should probably blow the whole thing off.

Tuesday, February 10, 2009 01:56 AM

LOL You called his dealer and scolded him?! LOL

Lady. Your just too fuckin funny.

Tuesday, February 10, 2009 05:53 AM

"I want you to stop selling pot to my husband this instant!" LOL

People? Come on. this is funny stuff. No wonder this guy lies, is depressed and stoned. Do him a favor and leave!

Original article: Depressed? No! We're angry

I dont think I'll have time to read this, but I hope the tone is not too self-congradulatory.

We are just getting started here people, and the real problem still has not been acknowledged, much less addressed. I'm all for bucking up, but my guess is therapist's are busy with whiners these days, and what happens when the insurance gets cut-off?

Monday, February 16, 2009 04:05 AM

Its voyeurism masquerading as morality.

This article perpetuates, and now I'm guilty. My official position is "toke on dude" but that sort of thing just draws more fire.

Every moralist is a snoop to begin with, and I guess that is my point.

Wednesday, February 18, 2009 02:09 PM

Your point is?

Name any democrat of note who is on the record as opposing capital punishment.

Monday, February 23, 2009 09:57 AM

My guess is this involves, liberal politics in general.

Specifically issues concerning woman, and the environment. I wonder if your even dealing in facts, or just opinion masquerading as fact. Nobody ever resents a person with a needed, correct answer. I'll bet your brow-beating with highly dogmatic, political OPINIONS.

Wednesday, March 4, 2009 06:46 AM

Somewhere between "happily baking bread" and "reasserting my most hypermasculine instincts"

I'll try to find a niche for myself. Now. If I could just get you to shut up.........

Thursday, March 5, 2009 07:07 AM

Start selling Amway.

Your welcome!

Wednesday, March 11, 2009 08:53 AM

I appreciate this sort of frontline reporting, with the reporter suffering, so that we dont have to.

It never ceases to amaze me how easily amused some people are, but this goes way beyond that. Its hard to imagine anyone watching this.

Thursday, March 12, 2009 06:00 AM

Borders Books will be next.

I can feel it.

Sunday, March 15, 2009 03:24 AM
Original article: I Like to Watch

Heather touches on something very important here.

Any movie or TV show MUST be visually beautiful. It may be starkly beautiful, or lushly beautiful, but beauty counts. Otherwise leave it a book, or turn it into some kind of NPR piece. Deadwood was beautiful, BROWN but beautiful.

Thursday, March 19, 2009 08:43 AM

The Brain Tumor Sketch is my first memory of them.

It was pretty obvious that they were nuts right from the get-go.

Friday, March 20, 2009 08:36 AM

He seems like a nice enough guy.

Politically he is in over his head, stoners generally are. I know because I am one.

Tuesday, March 24, 2009 02:02 AM
Original article: A city awash in cards

This was fun. Not Salon's style.

Usually we would get a sanctimonius piece from the "poor suffering" girlfriend.

Wednesday, March 25, 2009 02:00 AM

Have your husband send a lovely little card saying.....

I PROMISE TO COME TO YOUR NEXT WEDDING DUDE! LOL

Thursday, March 26, 2009 01:30 PM
Original article: The monster inside my son

This is neither self-pitying nor self-congradulatory............

Am I in Salon?

Monday, April 6, 2009 06:36 AM
Original article: I Like to Watch

I believe everything Heather says, but still have no desire to watch this sort of turgid dreck!

I love Gabriel Byrne, but this sort of thing just exhausts me, and I refuse to get invested in it. I did enjoy the review, but I cant imagine this is instructive. It just seems like wallowing in so much misery.

Tuesday, April 7, 2009 06:54 AM
Original article: Much ado about Levi

I really wish these people had wigged out during the election Campaign.

I'll bet this kid regrets sitting placidly by, allowing hinself to be used. What fun it could have been for everyone.

Wednesday, April 8, 2009 06:26 AM

Oh you crazy Lesbians!

I'm sure I speaketh for all Americans when I say that-we just cant get enough of your wacky antics.

Thursday, April 9, 2009 07:39 AM

Ralph Nader is right, and the comparisons to Bush are not much of a stretch.

He pretends to be a Native American. He pretends to be a scholar. No doubt a Mumia supporter, lately a professor. The Womans studies departments are loaded with this type.

Friday, April 10, 2009 11:57 AM

The byline for this article has such a self-congradulatory tone.

Unseemly to say the least. I'll pass.

Friday, April 10, 2009 04:18 PM
Original article: Rove: Biden is a "liar"

Rove is a dink!

But he is right about Biden.

Friday, April 10, 2009 04:28 PM
Original article: "Observe and Report"

If you ignore it, it will go away.

We might just as well be selling tickets here.

Monday, April 13, 2009 12:45 PM

This woman is always a pill.

Is she the one who lost her house and fucked up her marriage?

Wednesday, April 15, 2009 01:51 PM

Its cant be easy writing a sports column for this site.

They probably would like you to give equal coverage to the Women's NCAA basketball tournament.

Thursday, April 16, 2009 07:02 AM

America is that decrepit house.

We are all living in it, equally deluded, and having no fun at all.

Saturday, April 18, 2009 03:46 AM

They did not know that the kid was pregnant.

I'll never believe it, no matter how many times they say it. Its a blunder of the "you will never work in this business again" variety. Its like a murder, it can never be admitted to.

Sunday, April 19, 2009 03:42 AM

@hereandnow

I agree on Heather. I would add StephanieZ and RebeccaT to the list of Salon's most readable. King did a nice job, but a sports column on a site like this is pretty much of a thankless job.

Monday, April 20, 2009 03:08 AM
Original article: Aubrey Reuben, 76

"I know she never committed adultery"

LOL! Of course not. Not your Maria. The saint.

Monday, April 20, 2009 09:47 AM

I hope alcohlics are more interesting to date

than they are to read about. Nothing is more tedious or cliche. Bear your cross silently, maybe climb down off of it, bore and exasperate your family and friends if you must. I did not read this article, so I can honestly say that it lacked content and substance. I'm a great guy too, when I'm not like this.

Tuesday, April 21, 2009 01:00 PM

Someone has a very selective memory here.

This never really threatened to overwhelm Alec Baldwin's reputation. The book was an afterthough, and its doubtful enough people read it anyway. I dont recall that NBC ever even made a public statement concerning the matter. They did not lose any sponsors of note. He went on the view, mad a few vaguely apologistic public statements and went right back to work. His career barely even blinked. Great fodder for the feminist media, but nobody who mattered cared.

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 03:15 AM

You will become an alcoholic. You will meet a woman. She will write to Salon about it/you.

Please. Please. Please spare us. You have the power.

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 07:24 AM

There is no such thing as a bi-sexual male.

A straight person who hustles for money is not a bi-sexual. Pete Wentz epitomises this, and you need not believe every little thing that people say about themselves. Most of the pubic info is publicist generated, and few of the people who espouse on such matters are in the dark.

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 07:30 AM

correction

"Few of the people who espouse" should read "most of the people who espouse. The critics are the only ones worth reading in Salon. They dont have to create their content out of thin air. Rebecca has a Disney thing going on today. Maybe she will have some FUCKING FACTS!
