For reasons cited in this Greenwald post, I read the headline and then ignored the story. I knew that, yet again, one would be better informed to be uninformed on this type of sensationalized story until the dust had settled. There was not a real hurry to know the outcome; the dead would still be dead a few days later when more accurate information had come out.
The one thing I was certain of was that this was not and attack by al-qaeda masterminded by some guy in a cave someplace.
A new study(*) in the journal Science has just shown that all of the climate modeling results of the past are erroneous. The IPCC's modeling cronies have just been told that the figures used for greenhouse gas forcings are incorrect, meaning none of the model results from prior IPCC reports can be considered valid. What has caused climate scientists' assumptions to go awry? Short lived aerosol particles in the atmosphere changing how greenhouse gases react in previously unsuspected ways. The result is another devastating blow to the climate catastrophists' computer generated apocalyptic fantasies.
In a stunning article entitled “Improved Attribution of Climate Forcing to Emissions,” a group of researchers from NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies and Columbia University in New York, led by Drew T. Shindell, have called into question the values used to calculate the “forcing” due to various greenhouse gases. “We calculated atmospheric composition changes, historical radiative forcing, and forcing per unit of emission due to aerosol and tropospheric ozone precursor emissions in a coupled composition-climate model,” states the paper's abstract. “We found that gas-aerosol interactions substantially alter the relative importance of the various emissions. In particular, methane emissions have a larger impact than that used in current carbon-trading schemes or in the Kyoto Protocol.”

In other news;
NOAA figures show October 2009 in the USA almost 4 degrees F colder than the 20th century October average. In fact, the third coldest in recorded history. It is going to be a fun winter here in the States. I shall enjoy keeping you posted periodically on this hot topic.
The central bank of India last week bought 200 tones of gold and paid for it with dollars. This reduced the amount of dollars they had in reserve and showed that they are no longer willing to trust the dollar as a reserve currency. One economist wrote:
This transaction has a significant meaning that goes well beyond the dollar amounts involved, which are not that large. It means that a major central bank has actually disposed of dollar assets and prefers gold instead. It means that it regarded its dollar holdings as excessive. There are more central banks in the same position. They may do the same. China had been suggested again and again as the potential buyer of the 403 tonnes of gold to be offered by the IMF. India’s purchase was a surprise.
The lifeblood of the Empire of America is now being bleed away. The USA is now in a position where it must stop foreign military actions and try to save the economy at home. (an impossible task in my opinion)
Does the leadership of America care enough about the poor, homeless, hungry, and destitute in America to save Trillions by stopping the overseas adventures?
Can anyone please cite the portion of the constitution that says the federal government is authorized to take money away from our own needy people to go forth and "save the world". I just don't understand why a few here beat the drums for these interventions in the affairs of others but never write about the hunger, poverty, homelessness, and derivation in this country.
Are some here claiming that the USA central government is responsible for the whole world first? If so, were in our founding document does it say that?
No we don't have to look to the east, you are correct. However, it seems to me that those of us who follow the Perennial Philosophy should be allowed to mention the B word or Zen even. I realize Glenn is Jewish, but what does that have to do with the eastern religions?
Oh well, it is time to retire from this and go read. I am reading about protein requirements. I hope that can be mentioned, but who knows these days.
See John Bolton’s article in the new Hillsdale College’s Imprimis. Obama is a “neoisolationist” because he is not enough of an imperialist and a warmonger.

Side note. Does anyone know why we can not mention the poor, homeless, hungry and destitute of America here at UT anymore? That puzzles me.
It appears that Glenn does not like a certain eastern religion to be mentioned, so I'll say instead that in some religious paths the root of all evil is ego and pride --- both individually and in group. (governments for example)
Thanks for the report on the TV interview. I never watch TV and had not read a reference to that incident yet.
The idea of a man being guilty of a crime merely because someone claims he is guilty is the opposite of the ideals that we Americans were supposed to believe in. This horrible abomination of declaring a man guilty without proof in a proper court with all due process is becoming a hallmark of our nation. (and not a good one, of course)
Why did only 22 people get convicted? What about all the support people? What about the higher-ups that ordered the actions in question? What about the director of the CIA? What about the President of the USA? Does the "buck stop" with the agents in the field these day?
