A Former Democrat for Ron Paul
[Read the article: Ron Paul is a baby elephant]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I’ve bolted the Democratic Party and for the first time in my life I’m voting for a republican Ron Paul.
I’ve had it with the democrats who had two years to impeach Bush and Cheney for their many crimes and end the Iraq war, but did neither.
Ron Paul is a man of principle; something which most politicians lack He is allegedly polling low, but you couldn’t tell that by the numerous vicious and misleading attacks on him by members of both major political parties.
What is amusing is that here is a man who walks the talk of small and limited government – allegedly a Republican mini manifesto - yet most New Hampshire Republicans in the “live free or die” state, as your article says “would not consider voting for Paul under any circumstances.” That tells me that most republicans 1) have no principles, 2) are hypocrites, 3) would give up their liberty in the hopes that big mommy gubmit would save them from the big bad terrorists.
The only democrat who I would consider voting for, Kucinich, is polling around 1%. He is the only democrat with the balls to call Cheney what he is, a criminal who must be impeached. Also, he is the only democrat who is calling for an immediate end to the Iraq war – no phased withdrawal BS.
But when it comes time for the New Hampshire primary, I will proudly vote for Mr. Paul, a man who truly loves liberty and who is less of a statist than Mr. Kucinich.
In the words of Tom Paine: "Even at it's best the state is a neccessary evil."

Weak Selection of Songs
[Read the article: What ever happened to Britpop?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Why start off the set with a mid-career Smith's song? It would have been better to being it with Hand In Glove or This Charming Man. The same with the Bunnymen since "lips like sugar' is just a mid career wanker. Something from Crocodiles would have been better.
And although I love New Order's Regret, it's a late career tune. Why not - well you name it since there's about a dozen other singles that would have been better suited.
Also - what's left off - No Wedding Present, That Petrol Emotion, The Weather Prophets?

Because She's a Woman

[Read more letters about this article: Here]would you vote for Margaret Thatcher?

Remember, There are more than two parties to vote for
[Read the article: Democratic complicity in Bush's torture regimen]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Libertarians and greens have principals. Something which is lacking in both major parties.

If Democrats Had Principles: Kucinich would lead the polls
[Read the article: Who is the most "electable" Democrat?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The democrats claim to want an end to the Iraq war and the accountability of the Bush admin.
Here we have Dennis Kucinich who wants an immediate end of the Iraq war. No BS phased withdrawal or 'time tables' which most of the other candidates advocate.
He also wants justice served by impeaching Cheney for his many crimes. None of the other Democrats are saying anything about this.
Yet he polls, what ~1%.
Which make me believe that Democrats care little about principles, and are all about getting elected and amassing power.

Two Leagues: One Steroid - One Not
[Read the article: Labor war on drugs]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]These are grown men. Let them do what they want to with their bodies. Just make two leagues, one for those who take steroids and one for those who don't.

Clinton's Staff: A bunch of up tight losers
[Read the article: Shaheen resigns from Clinton campaign]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]One would have to be very naive to think Hillary Clinton did not give the OK for this bit of sleaze.
In any every, Obama should come out in favor of legalizing all drugs and shutting down part of the Big Mommy Gubmit's kill joy unit - the DEA.

Don’t Tread on Me.
[Read the article: Championing mainstream political thought while pretending to oppose it]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Great column Glenn.
The Democratic Party has utterly failed to end the Iraq War and to impeach Bush and Cheney for their crimes.
This is one former Democratic Party member who is just plain fed up and plans on voting for Ron Paul in New Hampshire for various reasons including his principled stand on Iraq and US imperialism.
He would immediately withdraw US forces from Iraq - unlike the top three Democrats who use phrases like ‘phased withdrawal,’ to mean that they don’t plan on immediately withdrawing all forces – it very well may take years.
As Glenn and others have pointed out, although Paul personally opposes abortion, he would not make it a federal crime. Can this be any clearer?
And have you heard the top three Democratic candidates talk openly of curtailing US imperialism as Paul does? Or ending the War on Drugs?
On the Democratic side, their top candidates would continue federal laws which make it a crime for adults to grow marijuana on their own property. Do I hear liberal Democrats scream and holler about that?
Mostly what I hear from the Democrats is what they plan on the government giving me such as health care. But the only think I want from the government is to leave me alone.

Thank You Glenn!
[Read the article: Various items]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Glenn: Although I know you don’t support Ron Paul, I thank you again for a thoughtful post devoid of sectarian screed.
It’s amazing some of the ad hominem attacks coming from so-called ‘progressives’ toward Ron Paul.
You would think that a candidate who has been consistent in his opposition to the Iraq War and the Patriot Act would at least garner some respect. Unfortunately this has not been the case. Just take a glance at the Daily Kos comments on this post about Ron Paul to see what I mean.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/12/24/11250/453/61/426080
It appears many Democrats would rather support one of their own – even if that particular candidate voted for the Iraq War and the Patriot Act, even if they will keep troops in Iraq for years, even if they will only tinker with the Patriot Act – than support a candidate who has been consistent in his support of liberty and against American Imperialism.
Have a great and Happy New Year!

[Read the article: Favorite quotes of 2007]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Glenn,
You must have a strong stomach to read through these...I could only stomach a few...and I'm certain you must have read much more.
Such vile, disgusting people...drastic change is needed...but you know that.
All the best.
