I'm Glad She Stuck With It

Even though people were saying she should drop out a while ago, I could see why she hung in there. She's the first plausible female candidate for President. If she dropped out before the bitter end, the less informed of the public would make the assumption that "women are quitters". She showed the public that she, a woman candidate, can be tenacious.

So, What's the real problem?

The problem is lack of focus and lack of self-esteem. For a 24 year old women, there is an ocean of men to pick from. A 24 year old woman is a dude magnet. There is a feast of men who will accept you for who you are because a hot, tight young thing is a rare commodity. Dump the narcissist and meet other man, fast. The sooner you get all stupid and carbonated over someone else, the better. The next one might accept you for who you are and just hope you can tolerate his beer can collection and incontinent Jack Russell terrier.

There's no focus about the film career, either. What's with the working for one-man bands? Can't you get an internship at a large studio? What about going to USC or UCLA and taking courses, so you know what is expected? Informational interviews, maybe? Typist jobs? Speilberg or Lucas or one of those hairy bearded guys just showed up one day at a studio, wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase. He went around meeting people and making friends and learning things. I highly recommend it.

As an atheist, formerly Cathlolic/Methodist/Pagan/Buddhist, I can say that finding God in some foreign country is like looking for an invisible friend who approves of everything you do and accepts you for who you are. See the first paragraph. Find a solid, hot, three-dimensional friend who not only accepts you for who you are, but can take you surfing. I understand you don't have to go overseas to find one.

A Divorce Is Not Just For A Bad Marriage

I had that. I had a parent who was such a severe alcoholic that I had to sever all communications with that parent and all of my aunts and uncles. I moved as far away as I could and still stay in the mainland United States. My siblings did the same, as did the other parent who divorced the alcoholic. This person caused a family diaspora.

The only relief was when that person died of alcoholism. We all converged for the funeral and explained ourselves to the surviving aunts and uncles. They all understood, even the ones who were alcholics themselves. One alcoholic aunt told me that there were other things going on, even before that parent came of age. In other words, my parent was mentally ill and the alcoholism was simply the cherry on top.

If your situation is as bad as mine was, you need to cut off all communication with these people and build a family of people you know and love and who are not only not alcoholics, but support your need to be away from your biological family.

Google

I'd heard they were chronically lowballing people on salary. Its nice to know they are paying well, finally.

84K is peanuts for Silicon Valley, btw. I don't care how huffy people get. Living there is scary expensive, which makes me glad I live and work elsewhere.

match sites

As a frequent user of match type sites, I have had limited success and now realize it is because the men in my age cohort are being inundated by foreigners wanting to marry a U.S. Citizen. Or something. That's my story and I am sticking to it.

I don't think its all about gas mileage

Even if the car's gas mileage is less than that of my sedan sized Prius, the appeal of these cars for San Franciscans (and people from other high density areas) is the small footprint that allows parking in challengingly small places. It is definitely a niche market car, but I can see it being very useful for San Francisco residents.

A book to read

Go to amazon.com and order a book called "Conduct Expected". It is the absolute truth about what it is like to work in an office.

Let's face it

If you are a woman over 40, you can't win. The media wants us all to be on our knees with our lips parted and silent.

Joanie

If people pay money to see Don Rickles and they think the "Three Stooges" are funny, there's an audience to see Rivers f-bombing celebrities. And, indeed, the best non-apology evar!

Have you looked at GE's annual report?

Its no surprise they make wind turbines - they're an extremely diversified company and do lots of things. In any event, it makes sense that an *energy* company will look into profiting from *energy* - no matter what. So, GE says wind power is a good deal. Well, it happens to be one. They happen to make turbines. No surprise. They're an energy company. Would you rather General Mills made wind turbines or Sutter Health or Tom's of Maine?

Price rises

Whenever there is a price rise, people have hissy fits, claim the prices are exorbitant and then settle in after not very long. Americans' houses are brimming with cheap goods, our fridges are jammed with all sorts of crap, and the buses still don't run on time. People freaked out in March and now are back to the same-old same-old. The money might be coming from their daily Starbucks/cigarette machine/newspaper/Big Gulp budget. Its not going to completely change until the prices are like those of Europe. Even then, people will find the money to drive.

I wouldn't open the video

It dropped a trojan horse on my system, which was reported by my virus catcher.
