Stuck With Comcast

I hope Obama is true to his word and does something about the horrible broadband issue in this country. I'm stuck with Comcast because I live on the outer part of a fair size metro area that has Comcast and AT&T DSL only. Unfortunately AT&T coverage ends 2 blocks from where I live and they have no plans to expand. So calling up Comcast and complaining about their high prices gets a polite response with an undertone of "whatcha gonna do about it".

Bloviating Hypocrites

don't reside entirely on the right side of the aisle as evidenced today by one Ed Schultz and his defense of Tom Daschle's income tax "problem".

Insinuating that Mr. Daschle just had to much on his plate and shouldn't be held responsible. His stance flies in the face of his opinion just two weeks ago concerning Geitners appointment in which he ranted and raved for an entire show about how Obama was wrong to appoint someone that was so obviously compromised. Flip flopping personified, I give you Ed Schultz, one of the supposed "good guys".

@bettym47

I would call you a prima donna but I refuse to disparage the self indulgent in such a manner.

Obama Single Handedly

Cleaning up tax cheats in Washington. The government coffers will be overflowing soon from payment of back taxes and the economy will roll on. Well done sir!

In Agreement

with nearly everything you said except the reason for the start of our slump in the 70's. We had an oil embargo in '73 and things went south at that point. We didn't listen to Jimmy Carter when he said we needed to become energy independent. If we had we would be living in a completely different country and economic times today. Instead we are still at the mercy of people that don't like us.

BTW saw you on Hardballs tonight...you look maaauuuvelous darlink.

@Lettuce Bleat

Until recently, we enjoyed 25 years of unprecedented growth and prosperity, which began, yes, with the Reagan tax cuts. Technology leaps allowed corporate America to cut costs and improve productivity. Breakthroughs in science have improved our health and lengthened our life span.

Comedy gold!

Why should we care

what public opinion is on this matter? This, after all, is the same public that elected and reelected these criminals. There is much more at stake than if bubba from 'bama thinks his 'ol drinkin' buddy W did any thing wrong.

You Bush apologists need sit down and STFU!

Sad Thing

about it was it's accuracy. I also doubt many who watch SNL were astute enough to understand the parody, as evidenced by some commentary here.

@ JoeTheSaver

I can't understand how it was you weren't able to purchase a home, especially two or three years ago. Banks were giving anyone with a pulse a mortgage. Now 4 years ago it's true home prices were going up but you could have gotten in before the peak and still been in fair shape now. So I have to wonder why you couldn't buy a home.

BTW if you were to buy a home within your means, as I did, you most likely wouldn't be eligible for a tax credit unless you had many deductions. I don't have a large mortgage and not enough deductions to itemize so I don't get a mortgage credit either.

Speaking Of Backslappping Interviews

Jon Stewart did another last night with Brian Williams.

Let me say I love Jon, he has been one of the brighter lights in a very dark time and has done more to point out the inconsistencies in the right's arguments than any media figure that I can think of.

But he continually frustrates me with these interviews in which he will attempt a thrust with humor but at any sign that his guest is uncomfortable he will back off and change the subject.

I realize if he used an adversarial tone with all his conservative guests he would soon only be talking to those he agreed with. I also get the feeling he and Williams are buds, if that is the case I think he should just forgo interviewing him.

It's strange to watch him do his monologue before his guest chat and he will skewer the days news pertaining to the Bush administration then have someone like Lynn Cheney on and neither will ever reference the early part of the show.

So how do liberals get "conservatives" to engage them in honest discussion, bribery, extortion? It is a problem.

@harpie

I used to read The Howler every day until it seemed he wanted to elevate the liberal discourse to a level so far above what is now accepted as "fair and balanced" that liberals such as Maddow and Olbermann essentially have to play with one hand tied behind their backs.

I agree that they need to not engage in "truthiness" as most MSM does but he nitpicks there shows to such a degree you would think they killed his cat or something.

He has a real problem with Rachel because she didn't commit professional suicide by disagreeing with Matthews once when he was being an idiot, I mean c'mon she could do and hour on that alone each week.
