virtue001 (forever true)

Hi, virtue001,

You and I have an outstanding way of being a cyber couple. I think we have really found a way to make it work and that is in no small measure due to your deep sensitivity and willingness to try new things. Most people read your comments here as if you write literally, as if you don't have genuine respect for Joan and the fact that you march on writing twisted little brilliant love sonnets to her astounds me to no end.

Much love to you, sweet virtue. I'll see you at dinner!

@eric (about Hillary's sense of humor)

You might not get what is so funny about Hillary's joke. She is pretending to get Mahutma Ghandi confused with a local Indian looking man who works at a gas station. See, the humor is that, first, most Indians look the same and then it's funny to compare this Indian anomaly (Ghandi) with a local gas station worker. People love jokes like this!

I'm sure we don't have to dig very deep to find Barack making a public joke based on such stereotypes. He probably doesn't pull it off as well. I bet Barack had made the gas station joke about Ghandi he would have made it sound somewhat racist. Let's see what we can find.

Did anybody read Gary Kamiya's latest trance induced blunder?

Hey, for those of us who already know that Obama never had a chance of winning the general election, shouldn't we be irate at Gary Kamiya for what he has just now written on Salon? Shouldn't we storm his comment section and prove that he simply can't be correct in his assessment that Barack has a real chance. And notice: Gary spends not one moment to reflect on the fact that Obama is still running for president as if he has a chance!

Please, what does it tell us about Obama's personality that he won't drop out of this race? Doesn't the fact that he is still trying to win tell us how delusional and narcissistic this guy is?

I read Gary Kamiya's article with an open mind. I kept my mind wide open so that it might snag some small crumble of truth in his words. nope. He mentions positive things about Obama throughout the article and, using reason and evidence- he pokes holes in the argument that Obama can't win. It's a difficult read if you already know that Obama has lost. Imagine if Gary Kamiya had written instead about all the things that Obama might do wrong in the coming election. Imagine if we had a weekly election journal that documented Obama's mistakes and held them up against the things that McCain is going to do well. And, friends, I have to tell it to you straight: McCain will do something really well. And the harsh reality is that much of the media will tend to focus those things.

Let's hope that whatever shred of real intelligence and actual decency Obama has will wake up and get him to bow out of this thing while we still have time to win with Clinton.

yet (Gary Kamiya's article is actually really freakin good, but don't say I said so)

I thought it was actually a wonderful article that doesn't sugar coat anything AND consistently connects evidence with the logic he is putting forth. And of course it is always refreshing when the conclusion isn't dogmatic.

@Healthisnation

I think it's just luck and timing.

But have you read the book, WITH, by Donald Harington?

@rufus (Krishnamurti)

Can you imagine what Krishnamuri would have to say about the notion that there is a particular candidate that is going to make a significant difference in the misery and widespread suffering that's happening on earth?

I love the story about the devil you shared. I think of that story all the time when people "know" what needs to be done.

Thanks for bringing in the big guns! Although, not sure how, specifically, you were using K's quote...

From Tomorrow's Paper

I woke up to an email with a clip from tomorrow's paper

.............

HRC: The campaign starts TODAY! As you may well know, I grew up in West Virginia, and I've said from the very beginning that this race begins and ends right here, in the Mountain State! THIS is what it's all about!

[crowd cheers; Hillary makes a HUGE smiley face

expression, her eyes opened wide enough that it looks like they might burst from their sockets]

HRC: Now, some people don't want your votes to count. They say they don't matter. Well, I say THEY DO MATTER! YES, THEY DO! THEY REALLY DO!!

[more cheers]

HRC: This is a game-changer. This is how we elect the president. Not by holding elections in all those other states. Right here. West Virginia, you can MAKE IT HAPPEN!!

[cheers]

HRC: I'm gonna offer you something special here tonight. I don't even know if it's legal. I suspect it isn't, but I really don't care. I'm offering five dollars-- cash money-- to everyone out there who'll vote for me tomorrow. One, two, three, four, five. Five big ones. Samolians. Five smackers. Because I know that times are hard. Times are tough! And people need a little break! Now, a lot of people will say, "oh, you can't do that!" or "five dollars isn't

that much money anyway!" Well, maybe to a black

millionaire, five dollars isn't very much money. But to a poor white man-- or woman-- five dollars means a whole heck of a lot. And that's why I want to be your president. Because I'm the one who really "gets" white workin' folks. I GET IT. And I'm not going to let a bunch of East Coast Harvard Elitists look at down their nose at you while you sell your vote for a free gallon of gasoline. I'M NOT GONNA LET 'EM, AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU! Y'ALL HEAR THAT??? DO Y'ALL

HEAR WHUT 'AHM SAYIN'??

[cheers and whooping]

HRC: YEE-HAWWWW!!! IT'S FULL SPEED AHEAD TO THE WHITE HOUSE!

[the crowd begins chanting "FULL! SPEED! AHEAD! FULL! SPEED! AHEAD!" as reality continues, unabated by their enthusiasms...]
