Semiodd, keep in mind how often you see Salon posting headlining articles about how the notion of Global warming is wrong. Think clearly about all the times you have read Joan and other Salon writers take the majority of scientists to task for shoving human-induced global warming down our collective throat.
Also keep in mind that Joan will rotate the headline that reads OBAMA IS WRONG ABOUT THE GAS TAX out of the headline in a few minutes; it probably won't be up again for the rest of the day. But still, your point about it being a headline on the day of the election deserves comment.
I think Joan has clearly stated her position on the Gas Tax issue: it reveals a slight pandering in Hillary but also it once again proves that she is tough and courageous.
Plus, think about all the headline articles you've read on Salon that say BARACK IS RIGHT ABOUT THE GAS TAX and think clearly about the ratio of those headlines and this one. Wouldn't you say there have at least been 15 headlines declaring how RIGHT Barack is compared to this one dinky one on election day?
You would have a stronger argument if Salon had only posted three or four headlines that said Obama is RIGHT because, in that case, the ratio would not reflect the wide range of expert opinion. But really step back and count all the headlines that screamed out how WRONG Hillary is. I'll go back and count. I'll also show you that Salon does often post headlines that say the experts are wrong about global warming. They do it all the time. It's normal.
Anyway, just because today is the election and Salon posts one little article as a headline that says Barack is WRONG...I mean.......you know what I mean?
so 1.5 million people have donated to Obama's campaign. Notice how Barack's trance induced minions are already trying spin this number as historically significant. Do you guys find that a bit racist?
Ok, let's concede that it might be a massive deal that a candidate has shattered the record in regards to developing a wide base of support relying on smaller donations that the established candidate. Fine, let's just accept that as a big deal. But what about his skin color? Don't you think people are getting all "historic" about simply because it is a man who's skin is black? That's racist, big time!
Imagine if Barack was a white woman and was winning this primary with the widest base of support in the history of our nation. Do you think people would find it to be quite such a big deal that he/she had set such a mark? Not me. If Barack was a woman, I have no doubt that instead of focusing on his preacher and his notion that working-class people are aware of how mistreated they have been, the media would be writing about his ovaries and the way he connects with the working-class through courageous (yet slightly pandering) decisions about the gas tax.
If a white woman named Barack came out of nowhere and began actually beating the Clinton Machine in this primary, there is no way people would be calling that white woman a black man? Why would they call a white woman- who surprised every political expert and came from behind to beat the high powered political tsunami that is Hillary Clinton- a black man. They wouldn't. They would probably (at least at places like Salon) spend lots of time trying to understand what about this Barack lady has generated such wide and intense interest and why it appears that the more people got to know this newcomer, the more they liked her/him.
Anyway, clearly I'm smart and I just wanted to share some high powered thoughts I had about the supposed great big deal that more non-rich American's than ever are excited about a candidate.
One more thing: If Barack wasn't black, I bet more people would be willing to constantly suggest that he is dreamer who doesn't really like to work but would rather just sit misty eyed in front of his computer and write speeches. I think it is racist and unfair to Obama that we don't take him to task for thinking the working-class is often bitter and for embracing a black preacher who had awfully wrong ideas and for writing powerful speeches. Where are the actual results of Obama's actions. Nowhere. Just words. Did he ever live in the White House for 8 years, day after day? Did he ever work in the Senate and gain a great reputation for working with a wide range of politicians? Did he ever work with regular people? I don't know, but I know that he writes a darn good speech.
Oh, yea: SEX
Have you noticed that Obama gets a huge amount of support from middle to lower class folks who share his skin color and he also gets huge support from educated upper class folks who don't? hmmmmmm.....
Clinton gets huge support from older white women. In some states she gets the working class but in others it goes to Obama....But.....
Have you noticed that Obama gets a huge amount of support from middle to lower class folks who share his skin color and he also gets huge support from educated upper class folks who don't? Isn't there something fishy about a guy who is getting loads of uneducated support and loads of highly educated support. What does that tell us about the option of a woman who is inspiring older women by the droves and who sometimes is winning the working class?
There is something great and historic in what I am observing, but I can't quite put my finger on it....help?
How do you know where an Obamite went to school?
