@liquiditytrap71 (I disagree in some unspoken way)

I think you miss a HUGE point. Ok, Imagine:

imagine that a few weeks ago Barack had said he went on a trip and was shot at and had to run across the runway. Then somebody who was on the trip with him said, "Wait, that didn't happen at all." Now, if Barack had said, "Yea will that guy is a comedian, so..." And then we get video footage of Barack on that exact trip and he's smiling and strolling along. Now here's the amazing thing. Everybody just assumes that Barack was talking about a different trip that the trauma happened. But, no. Oh my. What will he say. How often do people forget that they weren't actually traumatized? Well, imagine that Barack's response was that he used the wrong words.

Now: I don't think these things should be what get fixated upon. Can you imagine Barack getting caught in that sort of thing and the media letting it go and not examining what it means that he would need to say that (or "forgot" it didn't happen)? I think that if Barack had done that it would have meant something about him. It really would have given us reason to pause and wonder why on earth he'd say that.

But don't forget: he went to that Church for 20 years!!!! He formed some kind of connection to that preacher. Barack did NOT say he forgot he actually was not traumatized. That was Hillary. But she is different. First of all, she has more experience. She's been there. Second, Hillary says that on the first day in office she'd be ready. I don't think Barack has had the guts to say that. He only talk about talented things, rhetorical things.

Pay attention to how Barack talks about this repealing of the gas tax. It's very interesting. He says it is a bad idea, then he says why and then he attaches his reasons to this fuzzy notion that he is a practical person who is willing to not pander. He's talented, I'll give him that...

@designated_knitter

I wonder how much it matters that people might be supporting Hillary for sexist reasons. I heard a guy at the coffee shop a few days ago say, "It will be nice to have a president who is inherently a caretaker."

What about people who are impressed by how strong Hillary is because she's a woman? There must be people who are appreciating her because of sexist notions they hold. Once you stop looking at their ideas and how they might govern, it gets very complicated!!! I mean how am I going to find a good poll that will tell me how much support Hillary gets just because she is a woman? Also, same for Barack? It kills me that some people don't get why we must figure this stuff out before we know who to really support with all of our hearts. It is our duty to speculate on this sort of thing and find ways to know you are right. You know?

I don't care who somebody is voting for as long as they have a moral sense of being on the right side of the issue. I can't stand people who just feel excited and passionate about their candidate but who refuse to get morally righteous against the people who are wrong. And it is just a fact that a democratic party that is divided by Clinton/Obama is healthier than one that doesn't get righteously split.

Hillary and War

Ok, somebody recently made comments that they were afraid that Hillary would feel more pressure to say tough things and make sure American's did not doubt her readiness to use the military. This person wasn't saying Hillary is a bad person or would be an awful president; just that she looked at that as one issue she was considering. This person tends to write sarcastically, so it's hard to know if she really questions Hillary in this way.

Ok, but just because Iran is reacting negatively to Hillary talking about how easily we will be able to obliterate them doesn't mean that Hillary made any type of mistake that we should question. I can't STAND Bush, but you've got to admit that he doesn't care how he speaks about our military strength. He lets everybody know we can whoop them any day of the week.

My fear is that Barack won't have the guts to keep other countries remembering what we can do to them. Barack acts like a snob to his own people, but I bet he will show various kinds of respect to evil countries. That worries me.

Don't read too much into how Iran responds to Hillary. Hillary only said we could obliterate them. Fact. Barack talks about talking to those people.

So if you are worried about Hillary being divisive or overly eager to show American's she is tough, remember that there is some wiggle room in this sort of thing. It's not like wars start just by what people say.

I imagine Barack would have tried to make the same point as Hillary (that we won't let Iran willy nilly attack Israel) but would have said it in a talented or "inspirational", too scared to win the votes of those who really do need to know that we still scare people. Anyway, don't you want a leader who isn't afraid to talk tough about these sorts of things. Imagine what countries like Iran will think if the American President isn't always letting them know how easily America can take them out...

One more thing: I guarantee that if Barack had said how he would obliterate Iran the mainstream media would not have used it to suggest he's fairly green in regards to military.

The Wright issue teaches us more about how these two would govern than what Hillary said about our military. This is one instance where the media has the correct focus, finally.
