also, you might check to see just how many people this e-mail was sent to ...

the possibility exists that this was some iadvertant "reply all" or some other form of accidental distribution ...

I've never received something sent by a virus/phish/spam motor that appeared as coming from a "contact" -- but hey, apparently it's possible.

since you have the original and any "comments" you received -- you may have already been able to rule out those possibilities ... an amazing number of people where I work hit "reply all" all the time ... over and over ... tedious and sorta scary.

I'm with MacK -- I would show it to my supervisor and ask how he/she would like me to handle it ...

or -- most likely -- ignore it.

If this sort of material is sent again -- wash, rinse, repeat ...

You keep your file of these missives. Hopefully your supervisor will keep his/her own file.

Obviously you don't and can't know much about the person who sent it to you -- sending such material to a "stranger" shows questionable judgment on his/her part, but it may have been a "fluke" ...

if this was not a fluke -- and your lack of response is not hint she's willing or able to "take" -- a second missive might warrant some sort of neutral "I can't find "jokes" about race or racism amusing. Please confine your e-mails to me to those regarding business matters. Thanks in advance for your understanding in this matter." might work -- with your boss' permission.

This person isn't a personal friend, but a client ... don't take or make this personal -- it could easily affect your prospects with this company.

imho, the actual Rev Wright scandal had nothing to do with Rev Wright and everything to do with how badly Team Obama handled it ...

Rev Wright was recognized as a definite PR problem -- apparently even at the time Obama announced he was going to run for the nomination.

Personally, I was delighted Obama had an "angry black man" on speed-dial because I felt he needed one (or two or a dozen) and -- while I worried more about the crappy, hackneyed conspiracy theories he promoted -- I wasn't surprised or offended or frightened by his oratory.

I was disturbed to realize that Obama's 17-dimension chess strategists had not realized that EITHER Obama and family had some concordance with what was being preached OR their participation in this up-and-coming all-the-important-black-folks-worship-there ministry ...

Rev Wright was treated callously ... disowned ... even shamed ... and that is shameful. This recognized as inevitable PR problem should have been dealt with months or even a year earlier.

By most accounts this movie is Judd Apatow's most ambitious and most risky movie yet ...

the reviews are mixed and thoughtful ... Considering how easy-pickin' critic-poison bait Adam Sandler will always be ... the question could just as easily be whether Apaptow's moment has just begun in earnest.

Sandler has taken some serious risks with remarkable success -- Punch Drunk Love and Reign on Me being most notable -- As a personal quality, I admire successful people who risk failure as Sandler has done. And, as Apatow seems to have done with this film which sounded like an almost inevitable disaster 6 or 8 months ago when I read about it in the NYTimes ...

Considering everything, I'd count this as a win. Let's watch the box office and word of mouth ... keeping the PG-13 not-particularly-comfortable "subject matter" in mind.
