[Read the article: Was Obama's speech enough?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]There was nothing wrong with anything Wright said. But when a black preacher castigates the government for wrong doing, he is a traitor and unpatriotic. When a white evangelist makes horrible comments about 9/11 because god is angry with feminists, gays and lesbians then he is feted at the White House. This is not a progressive website anymore. The latent prejudices have been boiling to the surface and so called Democrats sound no better than their zealot GOP counterparts when it comes to double standards in race and religion. Joan Walsh heads that brigade.

[Read the article: Was Obama's speech enough?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Joan Walsh got her cue from Gingrich, Scarborough and Hume to attack Obama on his speech. Clintonistas do use the demonizing tactics of the GOP. Imagine a reporter using the "Obamatons" to characterize Obama supporters. That is the level to which they will take this campaign down to in order to because they have no other recourse.

[Read the article: Was Obama's speech enough?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Rev. Wright received commendations from President Johnson - which I think shows how much things have changed. . .
Wright did not say anything Wrong. This is a tempest in a teapot created by frail and nervous Clinton supporters whose fragile sensibilities have been offended. How dare a colored person speak the truth? How come these same people do not get offended by the likes of their white evangelical counterparts? Doesn't McCain have one of his own god person? And did not Hillary sit under the shade of that paragon Billy Graham who has said some pretty nutty stuff? Hillary followers cannot see the forest worth of trees. They are now offended that white granny was thrown under the bus.

[Read the article: Hillary Clinton's long strange journey on Iraq]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Not just super delegates. 2 die hard GOP colleagues will now vote for Obama. It's just the Clinton followers like Joan Walsh and her Salon surrogates who will not acknowledge a good speech when they hear one. I wonder how many of the shills really listened to the entire speech. Judging from their posts, NOT.

[Read the article: Was Obama's speech enough?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I don't believe that it will be enough. The neo-cons will tear him to shreds. He should have changed churchs and totally denounced Wright. We democrats must have a death wish. Now we apparently are going to be saddled with a flawed candidate, who also plans to take the high road. Shades of John Kerry.
Hw can the neo cons shred him when John McCain has the same problem with Hagee. They cancel each other out. I would argue that McCains right wing pastor is much more toxic than Wright who really is not that far off the mark. Only thin skinned yahoos are offended by his remarks. Hagee's remarks are much more damning.
I would hope that our candidate is flawed. Who wants a saint in the White House?

[Read more letters about this article: Here]What benefit of the doubt are you going to give Joan Walsh? I just saw her on TV and she was visibly dismissive of Barack Obama with a sneer and a grunt. Not only her words, but now her body language. She is upset that Obama was not fighting to get a revote in Michigan, you know the one her candidate had agreed to not contest because they did not play by the DNC rules. OK. So now blame Obama for that too.

Joan Walsh needs to hang up her credentials and go campaign for Hillary

Barbara Ehrenreich
Barbara Ehrenreich is the author of thirteen books, including the New York Times bestseller Nickel and Dimed. A frequent contributor to the New York Times, Harpers, and the Progressive, she is a contributing writer to Time magazine. She lives in Florida.
There's a reason why Hillary Clinton has remained relatively silent during the flap over intemperate remarks by Barack Obama's former pastor, Jeremiah Wright. When it comes to unsavory religious affiliations, she's a lot more vulnerable than Obama.

[Read the article: Hillary Clinton's long strange journey on Iraq]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Calling anything that Barbara Ehrenreich writes ridiculous would confirm the ignorance of the reader. I would not call Gloria Steinem ridiculous for supporting Hillary. But there are more feminists and white women supporting Obama than you can acknowledge. Take a look at all the people who have endorsed Obama, from Garrisson Keillor to Toni Morrison. I suppose they are ridiculous too in your book.
