  • And so it goes...

[Read the article: A Democrat explains his detainee vote: I just follow McCain's lead]

    Robert:

If John McCain sticks his thumb up his ass

Even if he did, it would have a hard time fitting, considering McCain's fat head is stuck up there so hard already.

There was a time that McCain, having personally experienced the horrors of being tortured as a prisoner of war, actually held some high ground over the civilian creeps currently destroying our country.

But, as the current "comprimise" shows, he's played that card out one too many times. That son of a bitch voted for torture. He ultimately showed that like the good GOP foot soldier he is, selling out his country for the good of the Party is all that really matters.

  • So many alligators..

[Read the article: Congressman resigns over e-mails, explicit IM content]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

..so little time. I mean, for christsakes, exactly how much more are we, as a nation, expected to put up with? Can we at least toss Foley in some local bayou and let some gators have a good meal?

  • Journalamism

[Read the article: The "fantastic job" Newsweek's Richard Wolffe claims he is doing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Though no one would confuse "Good Morning America" with an actual "news" program (though these days it's hard to tell), here's another illuminating example of just how base and ridiculous the media have become: From "The Fix", in today's issue of Salon:

57: Number of times ABC's "Good Morning America" reportedly called the home of Jennifer Mee, the 15-year-old Florida girl who began hiccupping four weeks ago and hasn't yet stopped, trying to get an interview.

Fifty seven times. The Onion couldn't make up stuff this good. I'm shocked they're wasting time on this tike when Britney's still bald and has apparently entered rehab, again, though I'm sure the major dailies have sent at least three "reporters" apiece to cover this urgent national development.

  • Let's not forget...

[Read the article: The "fantastic job" Newsweek's Richard Wolffe claims he is doing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Richard Wolffe's fawning "coverage" of Shrub is nauseating, but let's not forget he's not the only one on this beat doing a "fantastic job." Over at The New York Times, the ever-reliable Sheryl Gay Stolberg, woozy from the Kool Aid and with her editor snoring the afternoon away, manages to pound out a 1,400 word Fan Club Article about Shrub's friends from Texas who form his inner "loyal" circle (so much for Shrub not liking "yes" men). Hiliariously, none of them can seem to understand why large numbers of Americans refer to him as a "liar," and whine appropriately. Stolberg, sticking to her script, provides tea and sympathy with lines such as this:

"To hear these people talk about the president is to meet a man many Americans have either forgotten or no longer recognize."

Later, she gives put-upon Asst. Secretary of Commerce Isreal Hernandez a chance to clear his good name:

“I hate that,” Mr. Hernandez said. “He doesn’t call me Altoids Boy. He calls me Izzy.”

The overall thrust of the "story" (which, unsurprisingly, was given a teaser on Page 1) is the concensus that the "real" George Bush is actually a swell guy; a wide-eyed, well-meaning innocent who's always getting picked on by those awful bloggers and that damned lib'rul media. In short, Washington "journalism" at its finest.

  • Agreed

[Read the article: Joe Lieberman's dishonesty: The Iraq tragedy in a nutshell]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"On what conceivable basis is Joe Lieberman accorded even the most minimal respect or credibility?"

Thank you, Glenn, for - as always - taking the words right out of my mouth.

without exception, every response in this string

was written by a complete idiot with no no concept of complexity, subtlety or nuance . every last one. not including this one.

Look over there, "james"! It's a bright, shiny thing, and it makes loud noises, too!

  • Pure Politics

[Read the article: Inside Bush's prosecutor purge]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Many point to the Cummins firing as proof that the administration is lying.

At this late date, especially considering their well-established track record of aggressive mendacity, why should anyone, anywhere, have reason to believe that this administration is telling the truth?

  • Impeach Cheney

[Read the article: Cheney's contempt for American public opinion]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

This man is a monster of the first order, and the press needs to wake up to his pathalogical rantings.

Cheney is not only a monster, he's also a war criminal who makes Robert McNamara look like a rank amateur. His clammy hands are stained with so much blood even Hell itself would be hard-pressed to figure out what to do with him.

PBS "Frontline" has an excellent series running now called News War that looks at the degraded relationship this Administration has with its court stenographers -- er, the press. There is no reason whatsoever that they should believe a single thing that Cheney utters, and yet they not only write his rantings down word for word, they grant him anonymity. Every one of them ought to be demoted into the classified ads section and the papers ought to send their sports reporters to cover this gang of thugs. Cheney -- and for that matter, Tony Snow -- wouldn't last five minutes.
