Overthrow of the government....

Your insightful essay and refutation of Marcus makes it clear: There can be no clearer reasoning for the immediate overthrow of the executive branch of our government or for impeachment hearings to be commenced at once.

Convincing evidence exists that the Bush-Cheney regime has committed genocide and war crimes such as kidnapping and murder, some of which they readily admit.

If, as Pelosi and Reid have advanced, "impeachment is off the table," what then?

Ignoring The Logic of the Ticking Timebomb...Torture Is the Cover-up

We know this:

Torture doesn't work.

If torture doesn't work in extracting time-critical information as the sages - see Aristotle - have told us, then how is the urgency of a ticking timebomb a justification for torture?

Rather, urgency requires that we follow logic all the more deliberately.

It may not be possible to extract time-critical pre-emptive intel from a knowing suspect. Torture wastes time. It is precisely what we should not do!

We do know now that intelligence warning of a 9/11 attack was systematically ignored. (The FBI was ordered to drop it!) For this infernal premeditation alone, we must prosecute the people who were involved in failure to pre-empt 9/11 and those who then proceeded to break the law by covering it up their premeditation with the more brazen acts of torture and useless lawbreaking.

What you suggest, Glenn, is overthrow of the Beltway bandits.

(If anyone will prosecute BushCheney, it will be their betters among The Bilderbergers.)

Our American ruling class has utterly failed us, from before 9/11 and since then. Indictments of the "Gang of Eight" and complicit Democrats & Republicans would be an excellent remedy, but politics alone will not destroy Pelosi or Reid.

We are entitled to the truth, and the truth is that Cheney, Bush and those they have suborned have attempted to rape this country of its cash and debt instruments through embezzlement, intimidation and propaganda, crony contracts and the greatest dishonesty, fraud and theft that the world has ever known. There is a history for us, & we are not fooled.

Their disruption of governance have cost the world's peoples way too much, and they have been incompetent and incomplete in their failed struggle for patrician dominance. Such an outrage will be punished by their betters among the wealthiest families in the world. The oligarchs will have to buy their way back in, or there will be less of the world they can ever rest in peacefully. Maybe a luxury exile in Dubai, but little else that I can see other than a desert in Saudi Arabia.

The Fourth Estate is a shill...for the most part.

Few men and women dare to write substantive non-partisan criticism nor to investigate for the sake of disclosure.

There are, were and will ever be several sides to a story. But that the truth is ever in jeopardy, that hard, proven fact is ever infected with doubt ...these are the slurs of mere shills and con men. Count on the fingers of one hand those in the media spotlight who dare utter truth or host it. Moyers and Krugman are two.

In 2001, once, and only once, did I hear the opinion of a British security consultant uttered on CNN, that the 9/11 attack upon the World Trade Center towers was a "one-off," a 'terribly lucky stroke for the terrorists, a horribly unfortunate one for us.' Only once was his call for a cautious proportionate response ever voiced. Only once. I stopped watching CNN that day.

I have waited nearly eight years for this momentous day. But until we see the heroism that buys its own broadcast time and exists powerfully in its own conceptual space, until we see the courage required to lead our nation, and character that calls forth doing the hard thing, not because it should be done but because it MUST be done...until then, we will have idiot shills and con men like Wolf Blitzer and Tom Brokaw, Beinert, Broder, Friedman and Kristol running around calling the shots as their corporate media leaders would have them shape public opinion.

I have only a few choice words for these co-conspirators, these media monsters: mostly plainspoken profanity for their particular lines of crap. Not one of them has the courage of his convictions, and Brokaw should be absolutely ashamed of himself. Not this time. Not with what he knows.

7 million Israelis v. 220 million Israel-haters...

...in the region. People who abide a rote "education" system - memorization of the Koran - no critical thinking - subjugation & persecution of women - and we have to have a conversation with them and our own idiot AIPAC-loving right-wingers about Sen. George Mitchell?

There will only be peace in the region when the Saudis, the true-believers, the Wahabists, sit down to talk about a five-state solution, not for Israel but for the Palestinians. Nobody wants them except Hamas.
